  • When the mood is right on one of my gigs, I announce that the next selection will be "The One Note Samba". Then I'll fart as loudly as I can. Don't try this one one of YOUR gigs.....

  • drummer was having to deal with the guitarist changing the rhythm at 3:47 , poor guy,we drummers always take the beating....

  • isnt this a bossa?

  • This was Great! Thanks for sharing! :D

  • Hahaha for 3 straight days I have been listening to Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd trying to find a sample for one of my beats ever since J dilla found "Runnin."

  • I love to play this track in my car on my way to work. Rather relaxing, even in case of a huge traffic jam. Any stress simply fades away when hearing this... For a long time I had simply never known that jazz could be this relaxing, as opposed to the aptly so named track "tensions" from Charles Mingus (which I love also, by the way). Jazz has got to be the most versatile style of music. It can blend with any kind of music you can think of...

  • @PercivalFromWales 1000% true

  • una passeggiata tra le nuvole! :-)

  • Stan Getz, one of the smoothest sax players ever!

  • Stan Getz, one of the smoothest sax players ever!

  • ~"Heaven in Music" as someone once said. TY Dexterecus.

  • Thanks for posting - I owned tis album for many years.... practically wore it out... finally lost it... the lyrical style of gets was perfect for this. And charlie Byrd is forgotten treasure. he never toured so he was mostly famous in Washington DC area. I loved all his work.

What a pleasure it is to hear this again.- made my day

  • Fantastic! Make that 458 likes.

    :)

  • The beautiful thing about this track--and this album in general--besides Charlie and Stan's magical chemistry--is how in this generally "cool" atmosphere Stan can still project such emotional intensity(2:11,for example). This album still stands as the most successful "Jazz meets Bossa"album ever made, both artistically and commercially. Also worth checking out is Charlie Rouse's "Bossa Nova Bacchanal"(Blue Note)

  • nunca pensé que me podía emocionar tanto con una canción.. realmente amo el bossa nova !!

  • "Genius...Pure Genius"-Satchel

  • Charlie Byrd's guitar solo in this song is my all-time favorite piece of guitar work in any genre. Just SICK

  • Charlie Byrd's guitar solo in this song is the sickest thing I've ever heard. I normally like indie rock but this song blows me away every time.

  • j'aime la vie

  • Pure gem with no dislikes!

  • thanks a lot ... you are open my whole world and inspiration

  • I used to see Charlie Byrd at The Showboat Lounge in DC in the early 60's on a very regular basis. I remember when he returned from a State Department tour in Brazil and he had us listen to this new music called Bossa Nova. We were hypnotized. He might have been the first American Jazz musician to record a Bossa Nova tune, O Pato (The Duck).

On Jazz Samba, people should be clear it was Charlie's project, and he brought Stan Getz in on it. And what an inspired coupling it was -- still is!

  • I had this album when I was a young sax player in the 60s-----it's still great

  • This arrangement takes me to a wonderful time and place. College life in America.. Music appreciation and chums studying around the turntable listening to The Bird and Stan Getz in Olympia. Ah-Yeah

  • Getz was so good. Miss the man and his unique style. Oh, well.....

  • Now this is Jazz Samba at its best.

Not difficult to play on a keyboard either (Professional Pianist in Brazil)

  • THANK YOU Dexterecus for sharing Jazz . . . honest to goodness JAZZ !!! as it was meant to sound - NOT pretentious electro generated over saxed, over played so called "smooth jazz" . . . BUT listen up ya all . . . because this is real - Smooth (with a capital "S") - JAZZ.

  • @KZFisher

    You're definatly welcome.

  • @Dexterecus I have the original LP .....no words needs....only listening....

  • @KZFisher thanks a lot ... you are open my whole world and inspiration

  • one of the hardest to play on a key board Brian.from the uk.

  • This is so great it makes me wanna cry!! Hahhaahh!!! ;-)

  • This is the best I ever heard Charlie Byrd play......

  • It doesn't get any better than this............Stan Getz, the master of understatement, taste and cool...

  • 0 ignorant people! nice!

  • mmmm so sweet !

  • MY GOD!!! This is like butter, truly smooth...

  • the pharcyde ''runnin'' sample - 3:38 ... i think... if not it sounds just like it!

  • @TheConqueror09 Very close. Pharcyde's "Runnin" actually samples Saudade Vem Correndo (also by Stan Getz). (check it out at 2:05 and 2:47).

  • @Potrod thats funny cuz i kno the pharcyde runnin sample an i stil thought it sounded so similar haha dope

  • Jobim was a god.

  • I'd like to add that it was Tom Jobim who wrote this marvelous samba. It might be interesting for you to watch the video:

Gerry Mulligan and Antonio Carlos Jobim - Full Video.

A very nice version of Getz&Byrd really!

  • I just picked this record up, love it, thanks for posting

  • Brilliant...these tunes are way before my time but I found a love for Bossa Nova from a young age.

Charlie Byrd was a big fixture in my home state and played even into old age. Hearing his music and learning about how Brazil influenced him so deeply makes me appreciate this tune even more.

I sure hope that my generation keeps this stuff alive.

  • wow! am I the only one who still has this? and yes, I bought it in the 60's.. stiil a fave. thanks for this one.

  • i still have it. ;0) ,i still love it ,i still listen to it and still share it with others.

  • Thanks very much for this, I used to own this album in the 60's. Its still really cool . Please, please can you put some more tracks from it on here?

  • If you want I could upload the album. But right now I'm pretty busy. Maybe in a week or two.

  • I'm dying to hear Samba dees days!

    Daryll B. Moredecum

  • @birdonaline ...it's been reissued on cd....

  • @birdonaline Me too, "bird". We had this album in the Sixties and played it all the time - especially this one and Desafinado.

  • Likewise - many thanks for posting this - around half a century since I last heard it - sounds just as fresh but then Stan and Chas still were.

  • Truly a beautiful classic masterpiece.....Stan my all time favorite 1 Grazie

  • This is fantastic - I used to have this LP.
