At that point, it was a bit more lighthearted with quite a few more musical numbers--all written by the Johns, of course. Then Burton made the movie darker and edgier, leaving most of the songs feeling rather out-of-place. This is the only one that wasn't canned. Another fun fact: this is sung by TMBG lead John Linnell, but the actual voice of both fathers is long-time friend of TMBG John Hodgman.

It took my 57-year-old mom to tell me the true meaning behind the lyrics. Once she did that, I could never listen to the song the same with those dark, foreshadowing undertones in it. Same goes for me pointing out the doll flying through the window at the very beginning of the movie. My mom never caught onto that herself.
