Ye Gods, SLOW DOWN. Way too fast, absolutely devoid of phrasing. Hurts my ears. Interesting violin though. Why is it that so many violinists think that the only important thing about the sound of the instrument is that it has to be LOUD! Then, after they mature and play truly great instruments they realize how much time they wasted on crap.
Have you ever heard of a Pinney Violin? I just started playing the violin and I've been told that many years ago we had a good American Violin maker in the family by the name of Harold Pinney. It sparked my interest in trying to find out more about him and his violins.
@KevinSkene -- i've seen references to harold pinney but i've never seen one of his violins. there's probably information out there on him...good luck with the search...and your playing :)
@TammyThuyTran -- the violins we play here on eboyinc belonged to a professional violinist who passed away a few years ago. their family asked me & my brother to help them catalog the collection by playing a short sound sample of each instrument. that was 3 years ago & we're still working on the collection. they don't belong to us--we only get about 5 minutes with each instrument. you can hear & see us playing our own violins/violas on our personal youtube channel ~~
@eboyinc I was just wondering this very thing. What a gift if must have been for you to go through this amazing collection of fine instruments. Listening to you play makes me want to learn so badly. They sure did find great people to bring out the sounds of these instruments. Just incredible. I will check out your own youtube channel. My favorite sound samples are from the Viola instruments. :) Thank you for uploading these videos.
lo, i can only recognise bohmanns by sight! but my ear tells me that pretty much all the violins you have sampled have a great tone, and it's mostly down to your spectacular playing. keep it up :)
This may be my favorite of the violins so far. So clear and pure tone.

The carved curve on the violin body is far better than the drawn out lines on my violin!

thanks for your comment...this is an amazing violin...a work of art as well as an awsome instrument. it should probably be in a museum :D
eboyinc 2 years ago
the only thing is this, if it were in a museum, we wouldn't be able to hear it being played so beautifully.
