  • good job man you keep em simple

  • @shannonandsheila1 Please check out my instructional video CDs, if you are interested in learning this style. Visit ebay and search: keni lee

  • I've been trying to find the right resonator to get my 17 year old for Christmas... now i know. I had to turn down the volume because she'd come running in and ruin the suprise. Not bad at all for $100... very nice playing and singing!

  • @ChooseFreeWill Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, this video is 3 years old. This was a prototype that had a very limited run. I assume, the maunufacturer decided not to put it into production and dumped the inventory on the market. They were sold at an amazing low price. In general today, an entry level reosnator runs betweem $500 - $1000. I would beware of imported models that are offered lower than this price. Republic guitars is a very good consideration. Enjoy.

  • Keni Lee my man, Riyen Roots from Asheville, NC here. You're an underground hero of mine. Watched you on youtube for years now. You never cease to amaze me with your playing. Question.. Ever play a National M-2 wood body? I'm looking for an all around "lifer" reso and need a versitile axe. Any thoughts? Many Thanks & Blessins' ~ RiYeN RoOtS
  • @RiYeNRoOtSMuSiC Thank you for your comments, interest, and question. I have never played a wood body National, but in general, I know you can't go wrong with a National Resophonic. I believe they have a CD available that contains demonstrations of all their models. This might help you decide. As far as the best in balanced tone, the tricone is king, Personally, I prefer metal body guitars. They tend to have a brighter, crisp, slightly higher banjo like tone. Enjoy.

  • Great song. I will try with a resonator...

  • @fenderosa Thank you for your comment. Enjoy.

  • Keni, This is still one of my favorite most tunes you do. Gets my feets to tapping and head bone to noddin every time.

    Good job Pard,

    Jimbo

  • Thank you Jimbo. I haven't played this tune for a long time now. I actually made this video because I was so excited about buying a Reso for $100 that sounded so good. This was a limited run production that retailers dumped on the market. I just got lucky and was at the right place at the right time. Come to think of it, didn't you buy one? Great to hear from you. Hope you have a Festive Holiday Season. Enjoy.

  • I sure did get one amigo. Enjoying the heck out of it too. I have about quit playing my other guitars. I still suck but not as bad as I used to that's for sure. Do you still have your lesson series on DVD available? That would sure make a nice Christmas present for my wife to get me, (hint hint dear), haha.

    Thanks Keni, You Da Man!!

    Jimbo

  • Ya, definitely this guitar was a sweet deal. Yes, my instructional video CDs are available for sale on ebay. Search: Keni Lee

Series 1 is Open D. Series 2 is Open G. Don't forget there is also my first music CD Good & Evil. They sure do make a great inexpensive stocking stuffer! Thanks for asking. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • As you proved, you don't need an expensive guitar to play delta blues. Many old bluesmen had funky guitars. It's the person that's playing that makes the instrument sing as they all have their unique voice. Great job. Love those string pops.

  • Thank you for your comment. I agree. The object is to get whatever guitar you have to operate at it's best. A cheap guitar set up correctly, can easily out perform a poorly set up expensive guitar. Using fingerpicks and a good heavy slide produces a sweet tone. Also, the quality of imported low end guitars from Asia has improved. The early Stella guitars that the masters of the past played, were low end, but they where built to a higher standard than many instruments are built today.

  • what do u hink abot the regal rc-i doulians i want one but i dont know if they r good or not

  • Thank you for your question. I owned one once. They are not constructed correctly. They do not have the neck through the body construction like the original 1930 Nationals. I would suggest checking out Republic Guitars. In my opinion for the price you cannot find a better quality resonator on the market today. Enjoy.

  • AW HELL YEAH! Ride that eBay pony hard and put it up wet! Pretty sweet playin', my friend.

  • Thank you. Ya, you know, she a stepping horse. In a documentary interview, Son House clearly stated, real Blues songs are about the sexual tension between men and women. Thank you for your comment.

  • Again, very cool. I want to play like that too :D.

  • Thank you.

  • is this song actually called 'excellent ebay find'? lol

  • Of course not. It's a version of Pony Blues that is based on the playing style of Charlie Patton and Son House. Thank you for your comment.

  • nice

  • Thank you.

  • well done sir! I'm an old slide player from way back but I like your style. I can't figure how to do the clawhammer but I enjoy watching you. Excellent!

  • Thank you for the kind words. Are you aware, I have a new CD out called Good & Evil, and an instructional video CD available on Ebay. Just search: Keni Lee

  • Search ebay for : Resonator guitar round neck acoustic steel Black NEW

I found one auction, ending in 5 hrs, several colors to chosen from.

I myself bought a new Johnson tricone last week, and ordered new national cones for it.

Just waiting for the arrival someday next week.

Got your cd two days ago Keni, great work!

Good to see that you have got better ligth setting for the new series tho. lol.

Your lessons are very easy to digest for a slide beginner like me.

    Thx from Sweden

  • Thank you. Yes, those National cones will certainly brighten up your new Johnson. Lighting loss is really due to compression from .avi to .divx files. I bought brighter lights for the Second Series. I'm glad the lessons are effective. Thanks again, and there are more new lessons on the way.

  • hey Kenny, I like it.

  • Thank you. It's a great guitar for the money. I think they are still available on Ebay.

  • What sould i type in to the search engine in ebay to find guitars like this? :S

  • Unfortunately, it looks like currently no one is selling a Fullerton Winslow Guitar. Search again later. Also, I've never played a Republic Guitar, but I think they are the same manufacturer of this guitar. Good Luck.

  • Fullerton Winslow guitar

  • What strings gauge do you use? Do you use flat strings, to reduce strings noises on your "glissandos"? If I could ask for more, I would be very happy if you do lesson to teach songs like dust my broom, in é or 3 videos, playing slowly to allow us to understand... Thanxs again.

    Greetings From Paris France ;-)

  • Thank you. I have a whole series of lessons posted on youtube. If you go to anyone of my videos and click on the blue KeniLeeBurgess it will take you to my page.

  • Hello from Paris France! Used to play in open G, and becoming an open D addict

    :-) Thanxs for the videos

  • Thank you. Yes, due to the relationship of the strings, both g and d offer different possibilities. I'll be doing a series on Open G after I finish the lessons in D.

  • There are some really nice finds on the bay.. looks like you found one, Congrats.. :)

  • Thank you. I believe they are still for sale, but the price is $250. They retail in the store for $399. So, that is still a good price. It's a very finely made low end guitar. 41/2 stars out of 5!

  • Good guitar but the vocals need work.

  • Thank you. This song "Pony Blues" I just started to arrange. If you listen to the original by Charley Patton, you will understand how I need to corect the timing. It's a great song. I posted this song mainly to display the guitar. Please watch my other videos.

  • Nice!!

  • Thank you.

  • $100USD! wow, well done! nice Patton action too!

  • Thank you. When I saw it on ebay, I thought it would be another poorly made asian model, but was I surprised. I'm still working on this Patton arrangement. Ya, it's a cool sounding song!

  • No, not bad at all! What a great tune!!!

  • Thank you. It's Charley Patton's Pony Blues. I'm still working on the arrangment.

  • Hey Keni, "not bad" meant the guitar, the performance, in my opinion, is priceless ;-)

  • Thank you. I hear ya. For $100 this guitar is sweet. It is not as good as what you are saving your money for, but what I love about it is, it is a reproduction, not just a regular guitar that they cut a hole in and installed a cone. This is real good Chinese craftsmanship for not a lot of money.

  • Keni, Post another one with it would you????

    Thanks, Jimbo

  • Okay, I'll use the new ebay find guitar on a video lesson.

  • Way to go Keni. Thanks for the tip too. I amwaiting on mine and hope to get it tomorrow so I can play it this weekend. I typed a comment here yesterday but I don't see it?? Thanks again my friend. Jimbo

  • Thank you. Your gonna like it!

  • Wow, more bluesy music! Yikes, I have been taking an analytical approach to bottleneck guitar so far, hoping to glean some knowledge towards learning something new, maybe sooner than I think. Maybe blues guitar is essential, surely I am missing concepts because I do not yet have one in hand. You've got me thinking, thanks.

  • Thank you. Ya, for a small investment you can go on a delta adventure. The lessons I'll be posting will take on a grass roots approach. I'm going to show, how I'm figuring out how to "play" music, not just reproduce other people songs. I'm trying to learn like they did in the old days.

  • nice tone ! rebuilding a tricone! but need to find a supplier of biscuit plates (national r very expensive)the neck repair cost loads!! hope you ,family & dog r fine!!look forward to your slide lesson stuff! regards bluespower..

  • Thank you. I know cones from National Resophonic are expensive, but cheaper cones are not good. Think of them as speakers in a good amplifier. They are the most important part. If I would replace the cone in this guitar with one from National, the tone would greatly improve. That would cost $50 for the cone and $50 to cut the biscuit and install the cone. In the long run, the guitar would still be a steal.

  • pretty neat guitar.

  • Thank you. Get one for yourself. You will not be disapointed.
