I remember this movie! I've loved roxette forever and a day... I was in first grade when I first saw Joyride on MTV, they made some incredible music video's. Those were the days, I miss it when there was actually music on mtv instead of all this reality BS.
The Song was originally going to be used in the film Hocus Pocus. But that idea was dropped and so Roxette (rather than let a great Song go to waste) decided to use it in the Super Mario Bros Movie. Think what you want, because personally, I love this film! A message for those who hate it with a firery passion: It's a Sci Fi/Action Comedy. It's not meant to be taken really seriously, for crying out loud!
You said that this song was originally supposed to be used in "Hocus Pocus". The lyrics now make so much more sense..."I love when you do that hocus pocus to me" never really fit to Super Mario (great song though).
Yes I know it was a flop,I was one of the few who actually liked it when it came out :p Thats usually happens with all actual flops, and many of my favs movies: they are appreciated in the future.
I also loved this film when it first came out. Still love it now and I actually just bought it on DVD for my 7 year old daughter for christmas. She loves it just as much as me!!!!
I remember seeing this when I was five years old. I loved this song and the movie cause I use to play the game evn though it wasn't faithful, at that age you don't really care your just in awe of seeing Mario in live-action form.
the version of the video without the mario bros footage do exists..it's basically the same but without the mario bros images..both versions are great...roxette its great and this song its almost magical 2 me.
Ohh, I was probably the only person at the thater who actually liked Super Mario Bros. I was so excited to see Mario on live action. I really liked it, but was not the best movie.
Samantha Mathis is one of my fave actresses. I was 14 and staying at my Grandmas for holidays when the movie was playing here, so I took Grandma to see it. She was impressed with the visual effects! :)
This music video kicks ass! The movie kicks ass! The Super Mario Bros. movie is actually underrestimated, it is a pretty good movie. It looks nice with cool effects and the story is actually quite deep and smart. It is true that the movie isn't perfect if one compare it to the Super Mario Bros. games, but as a film - definitly worth seeing. I was surprised (in a positive way) when i saw it.
I salute you, Phlibbit, for making this available!
I love Super Mario Bros. The Movie and this music video. I have the orignal video, I love this song. Have some of you watched my "My Little Pony G1 - Almost Unreal " video??
ok gonna upset a few ppl by saying this but, the film was shit, lets be honest. but again, saying that, I love it. And damn right YES !! they sould make another Mario movie..us poor Bast**ds that were kids in the 80's/90's are still here. Someone needs to bring back the magic we had as kids... god knows the wrold need its heroes.
always wanted another mario film to come out but dont think it will happen they made koopa in 1 and i always though they woulda made another with wario and waluigi in it oh well loved this film when i was young
i have the super mario bros. movie, it is great. the film came out into theaters in 1993, i was five at the time and i remember seeing it in theaters with my brother and my mom and dad
I remember this movie from my younger days, i think it will hold a place in the hearts of many people growing up at that time :). Besides, i always used to think that the person who played Daisy was hot ;).
Movie might of floped I don't care. That movie was the shit! I loved it. It was the first video game movie ever, thats why people probably hated it. Because they made it more REALISTIC!! It would have sucked if it was exactly like the game.
Funny, I remembered it being somewhat different. Pity the end of the song is even more truncated than the original video version, but at least the ending makes more sense.
Yeah, it is different; this is the rarer Super Mario Bros. Movie version of the music video. I think this one was released first, and the version that's most common was likely released after the movie had been out for a while.
Roxette - claims they originally wrote this song for the Disney movie Hocus Pocus. But instead used it for for Mario Brothers - which end up being a flop.
This song goes better with the Mario Brothers movie, when you think about the Luigi/Daisy Mario/Danielle relationships. All this really has relation to is the words Hocus Pocusin the song. I liked both films, so to me it wouldn't make a difference.
You know, the lead singer of the song was actually angered about the change that Almost Unreal ended up with the Super Mario Bros. film instead of Hocus Pocus.
I don't think so, if you watch the film, the kids have an attraction to each other, but so much is happening that they don't have the time to develop those kind of feelings.
love this song+film, haters eat a dick

That could be why its not on the DVD for the film or the Music Video DVD.

the song could relate to the relationship between the two teens(forgot their names) in Hocus Pocus.

I don't think so, if you watch the film, the kids have an attraction to each other, but so much is happening that they don't have the time to develop those kind of feelings.

Well, I think despite that, Roxette's lead singer probably still thinks that Almost Unreal should've stayed on Hocus Pocus instead of Mario.
Movie06 4 years ago
I don't think it would have really fit in well with Hocus Pocus. Hocus Pocus is way to Halloweeny and this song isn't.
