I love this man. The tone is excellent, playing smooth, and notes right on for the background. How long have you played and what type of research did you have to do to find those licks?
Taught myself everything i know on guitar, just use the web to research people and licks and keep practicing if you have it in you then one day you'll have it!
Nice job. I have a keyboard that has an auto accompaniment feature, so I will sometimes do a one-chord guitar solo like this one. I rarely think in terms of "jazz" or "blues-rock" though. I figure there are already a lot of people working in those grooves (as deep as they may be) so I'd rather find a more shallow groove somewhere else. I also try to use a lot of exotic scales, since not many people work with those either. A good one is the Gypsy scale, in semitone intervals: 1 3 1 2 1 3 1.
im new to guitar scale theory, does that mean that all those scales and modes have notes that are contained in the e major scale (tonality is a new concept to me, so i may be completely misinterpreting it)
Yep exactly, with a few chromatic licks added here and there to add flair, because obviously just running the scales doesn't sound that great. A simple way to get that jazz sound in a simple lick is to slide in from a Flat 3rd to a major 3rd in E major this would be sliding from G to G#; give it a shot.
can you send me your backing tracks @@ i really like them! thanks!!

dont you get bored playing over the same chord over and over?
scottbos68 4 years ago
It's just a jam, to practice licks and scales, and i keep it fairly short under 3 minutes. Doesn't get too boring that way.

Thanks a lot man! I cycle through a few different ones in this.
E Locrian and Aeolian Modes and D minor penatonic and F # Dorian all revolving around the E major tonality.
