  • Hi, Is the little dot connected in the tape loop of your amplifier ?

  • @Mikkee33 No, it is not.

  • yo what song is that, thats great

  • @MrNicknames123 The artist is Steven Delopoulos. The song is 'Another Day'. The 'album' is 'Me Died Blue'. The whole CD is incredible!

  • Hi, I wanna build the exact same system but the AV123 X-LS bookshelf speakers seems to be very hard to get these days as the company has gone bankrupt. Would u be able to recommend a comparable one please?

  • @dqanguyen Yes, I can! Check out the 'PSB Alpha B1'. I listened to a pair recently, and they sound akin to the AV123's I have. Let me know how you fare.

  • yesss i'm agree !

the best song ever is with tubes amplifier , thanks for sharing

  • You should try the GB-5654 Sylvania Gold Brands tubes. They bring out a whole new demension to the MKlll that i didnt know existed. How did you find the Hytron tubes to be changing the sound?

  • @OriginalMindTrick I've heard great things about the Sylvania Gold Brand tubes, but could not find any online that were priced fairly. The CBS Htytron tubes had gotten great reviews, and the price was right, so I went for it. I like the Hytrons seemingly deeper, wider soundstage and eerily accurate timbre with stringed instruments. Detail seems to be there in spades as well, compared to the more subdued (but still OK) stock tubes.

  • valves colour the sound with their distortions giving some people the perception of warmth. in reality a valve amp will never be as detailed or transparent as a quality solid state amp like those made by bryston for example. room acoustics, speaker placement & a quality balanced mains supply are also top priority when striving for quality sound. forget unbalanced interconnects also, balanced xlr is best. forget cd players, get a benchmark dac1 usb & hook it up to a mac. far superior. imo :)

  • @demozdaze Valves (tubes) do impart their own sonic signature, yes, which for the most part from a well designed unit (preamp, amp, whatever) can be quite pleasing to the ear. Witness the multitudes of audiophiles and sound engineers that swear by valves. On the contrary, there are adherents for solid state. I like both. My friend had a Bryston 3BST? (something like this) amp, and it sounded incredible. I am hoping to try out a DAC soon, and possibly get into lossless digital audio too.

  • @AudiophileTubes BOOOOM! :)

  • Hi, is that denon player any good? I was thinking of getting one myslef, does it have better audio quality than let's say a Sony PS3? Thanks.

  • @fkthsh When it works well, it's not bad. It has a quality Burr-Brown DAC, which sounds nice overall. Sometimes the DCM-370 'skips', but this is because of a design flaw that is well documented online. Lots of user complaints on the DCM-370 on audio review dot com. HDCD sounds incredible though! Don't know how it compares to the PS3 for redbook CD audio playback.

  • You don't even need any additional hardware. Just take a track you like and rip it to a 32kbps mono mp3 file and you'll get something pretty similar lol.

  • @DJfraz07 MP3's don't sound nearly as good as HDCD or SACD though, as far as I know. I love my MP3 players when on the go, but for serious music listening, i'll take my 2 channel high end system anyday. I suppose that if I invested in a quality MP3 server, with high bitrate MP3's, and a good D/A converter, it might sound as good as HDCD or SACD.

  • @AudiophileTubes Uhhh..that was a joke dude.

  • Why do you need a "preamp", again? Can someone be kind enough to explain? Thanks.

  • @AestheticFlavor A preamplifier enables you to connect several different pieces of equipment (i.e. CD player, turntable, video, MP3 server, etc.) to your amplifier. If you are using an integrated amplifier, that already has a preamp built in. In addition, a good, quality preamp adds a sonic signature to the source music, often enhancing the sound (like a good D/A converter does). Some will choose a tubed preamp, for a warmer sound, and some will choose a solid state one.

  • Since Stereophile did the article on the lil' dot mk3 in this months issue, they're very hard to find. I have a feeling when they do resurface on eBay they won't be $199 USD anymore either.

  • Many are thinking the same thing. 'Supply and demand', I guess.

  • Are you using the stock tubes?

Also, have you come across the ground-loop problem?

I'm curious as to what Mil-Spec tubes to use, as I'm surrounded by RF. I've got a WiFi router going and a Femtocell cellphone extender sitting overhead.

  • No, I am using N.O.S. CBS Hytron JHY-6AK5 tubes (EF95) driver tubes from 1951, and the stock power tubes. I don't have any ground loop issues. Sometimes, just replacing the stock power cord with a shielded one solves RF issues.

  • Ahh .. *Drool*

  • Cheers to you as well! Thanks for watching.

  • Very nice. Ah, sweet sonic sounds filling the room. Cheers!
