In Finland, there are a artist who have a giant wind chimes in his backyard which are made of huge logs and are 3 to 5 meters long. They are so huge that wind wont move them, but he once played them in a radio program and he hit them with a 2x4 and it gave a very deep but powerfull bass. It would be fantastic if it would have a electric motor which would get the impulse from brighter windchimes when they sound, like in video. It would be really nice effect to hear them play at the same time.
Yes, I've seen photos of native people in Africa playing tuned hardwood logs laid across a big hole in the ground which acts as a resonator. If they're supported at their nodes like a big baliphone, they can ring out across the countryside to send messages to other villages.
