Allen and West had asked Burwell to get someone to kill a rival rancher. Burwell got Jim Miller, who did in fact kill the rancher with the help of a ranch hand he paid $50 to show him where the rancher was.

So they were arrested some time after but it looked like there wasn't enough evidence to convict. So naturally a mob came and pulled them out of their jail cells, took them to a barn and lynched them.

Miller actually requested he be hanged with his hat on.

That's a great story! Working late can pay off sometimes, eh? I saw them in Cambridge, MA at the Middle East Upstairs last year. There were about 40 people there total. They put on (honest to God) the best show that I had ever been to. I push Blitzen Trapper on just about everybody I know...they're great!
