I just replaced my o2 sensor, right bank sensor 1, but 3 codes still keep coming up. they are po051, po152, and po155. They all relate to bank 2 sensor 1, the same one i fixed. I'm starting to think it might a problem with the catalytic converter or the wiring that sits right on top of the transmission is fried. any thoughts or tips?
@therevelation88 Man, sorry to hear about the troubles, but yes, those codes point to the O2 sensor(s). I don't have enough space to write down some steps, but I do have a recommendation! Head over to ericthecarguy(dot)com and post this issue onto the forums. There are some brilliant techs over there that can help, and I will certainly chime in with my thoughts. One way or another, we'll do our best to help you out!
the red tab slides sideways like he does in the video with a screwdriver away from the connector .
then just press in the center in-between the red tab prongs with your 1st finger (this is the actual clip that holds them together thats why they dont come apart after sliding the red tab!) and at the same time pull both connectors apart
i had a friend take my truck to the shop for the check engine signal. reading the paperwork from the shop it says "1 DTC right Bank (Upstream) O2 sensor" Which sensor would that be? i would rather save money and just replace one for now rather to guess which one it is. thanks.
@therevelation88 Right bank is the passenger side, upstream is the sensor BEFORE your catalytic converter, closes to the engine/exhaust manifold. You can pick up a Bosch sensor for around $50 bucks and replace it yourself. The 4.7 liters are brutal on the sensors, so it is not uncommon to replace O2 sensors on our trucks. Good luck and let me know how it turns out! By the way, what was the DTC code, was it a P03xx or something?
@TheTexasCoder unfortunately the code was written on the paperwork my friend brought back from the shop. i just ordered a bosch sensor without any wire splicing or buying a sensor bung for little less then 60. hopefully it will come in during the week so i can install it. i took a look under the truck and found that the driver sensor looks much easier to handle than the passenger side,
@ShitMyCatsOnFire You're very welcome, I am glad the video helped. One thing to keep in mind with those sensors...be patient and you will get them out.
Just replaced the exact same one, dodge dakota 01'...PAIN IN THE F'en A##! had to get o2 socket tool..worst part, didnt know the red tab from factory connector had to be removed 1st. In order to remove it...D'oh! Thanks for the video though! Greatly appreciated!!
@Chesterdacat I am glad the video helped, yea those connectors had me boiling...sometimes I wonder if the engineers at Chrysler put ANY thought into designs...but good deal you got em knocked out!
@Chesterdacat I'd like to see HOW to take the plug off properly. I've been fighting with it for a while and I don't want to break anything. Great video other than that! Thank you!
@sixfootface I ended up getting an O2 sensor wrench kit from Harbor Frieght. That ended up being the final tool that knocked the sensor loose. It was a bear, but it finally came out.
@TheTexasCoder Oh, I meant seeing how the connector actually comes off. Like where to stick the flat head. I can hardly see the damn thing.lol I'm trying to get the front passenger side one off so I can extend it for my headers. I messed up and put the rear one in instead of the front one and it fowled out the plugs on that side. I also had to soak the o2 sensor in gas to clean the soot off.
@chetwinslow21 Thanks for the comment. To find your O2 sensors, just follow your exhaust manifold towards the muffler. If you have the CA emissions, you will have 4 total, 2 on each side of the truck, one before the catalytic converter and one after. If you have non CA emissions, then you should just have two O2 sensors, one before the catalytic converter and one after.
@mmwetodd Thanks for the comment, unfortunately no, you can only access the electrical connection from under the truck. The O2 sensor can really only be accessed from the wheel well. I supposed if you had small enough hands and small tools you could probably get it done, but I was working on my exhaust and the sensor was within easy reach. Thanks again for posting and watching!
