  • great tips . please where can i find lesson 1

  • I'm over 40 and started playing again after quite a few years of absence from the blues. I was stuck with my playing, rehearsing the same stuff over and over and it's thanks to guys like you who share this with all of us that give us new ideas and inspiration. Thank you much for this

  • Very, very nice lesson....I thought it sounded dead on like B.B myself.

  • Nice lesson Also check out Robert Dean's guitar lessons on vid. on youtube

  • Nice. Again straight at and shown nicely. I know these licks and positions, but it adds to my confidence and gets me "bluesin'" a bit more. Thanks

  • Man, I now realized how important is to have a real electric blues guitar. I've been trying to do those licks on my acoustic country guitar (Yamaha FG 411 BL) and it's impossible to bend the strings like that. I have to try this on a proper guitar soon!

  • nice. from some basic to some nice groove's. Keep on pickin, and thanks for sharing

  • Kacke ! - lesson nenne ich das nicht !

  • This much more John Mayer style other than BB's..

  • thanks it's so useful !

  • BB would probably use the bb box for that lick...But cool anyway

  • ur sound is awesome, i have an awesome guitar ( epiphone riviera) but unfortunately a crappy amp

  • Can't believe the negative comments - not the greatest lesson granted but something there to learn from and expand your own playing - for me anyway - I would be interested to see a contribution from the complainers - put up or shut up !!!!! Steve

  • well, not really bb king style, but anyway i like it. Definitely an enrichment for every blues guitar player! Please stop complaining about people who take the time to prepare a video to share sth.!

Well, even its not the perfect imitation of bb style, its a good lesson to get into it..SO THX MAN!!

    TJTH

  • Thanks. For more BB Style check BB part 1.

  • Only one B.B. but you complainers don't have a clue!

  • BTW TheJam I didn't mean to direct that to you. Sorry!

  • Great lesson. I just listened to BB (compilation called Blues on Top of Blues), and John you really do capture that sound. (I am on my daughter's account here, so ignore the profile).

  • if he had played that in the B penatonic instead of A it would have sound more like bb king.

  • Sorry - don't mean to piss on your parade.... It doesn't sound like BB at all. You are completely missing his style.... and you are NOT ready to teach BB style.

  • Better to act than to talk.... or..??

  • What an idiot. You no nothing about blues music. Why don't you post us some bb king lessons? Do us all an favor and kill yourself.

  • @MRwenkie Why don't you work some out for yourself you lazy twat?.. ohhh, obviously because you're too crap to do that, so you feel the need to take out your insecurities on random people to make yourself feel like a big man. Do us all a favour and kill yourself sausage breath :)

  • Yep, you're a dumb fuck. If you knew anything, you would see I was defending this lesson and John's great teaching. Buy a metronome kunt.

  • Dude, my apologies, seriously!

Just reading back through, i hadn't realised your post was in reply to Alvinorey! I thought you were talking about the vid! In which case my comments are 100% taken back and not applicable to you :)

  • You kind of miss the whole point of these lessons. Anyone who understands all of the nuances and technicalities of BB's playing, or are ready to learn them, shouldn't be watching youtube videos for guitar lessons. They should be able to figure them out by listening and watching BB play. This guy is doing a much simpler version, where you can take a simple penatonic, add a few notes, change your tone a bit, and sound a little like BB. it's easy to hear that this is BB blues, not clapton or srv.

  • omg i had a blister on my finger form playing this and i was doing it so rough that it poped while playing HAHA

really great stuff man thanks alot

  • I break a lot of E strings myself. Playing the blues definitely requires a strong hand.

Sounds like you've got it. Watch out for the eye!

  • g8 lesson if you really practise or just try it out i think its really good. also this same position that this awesome guy plays is after so called albert king box. (check out bb king box on utube)

  • same question as lXJoseOleXl. Please explain. Thanks a lot!!! Great lesson!

  • the parts that got me is that your using notes out of the pentatonic and blues scale, like the 7th frets of the e and b strings. oh and the 6th on the g string. usually in A pentatonic those notes aren't included, but for some reason they sound good? clarifty please?

  • As BB does he uses not just the minor but also the major pentatonik of the key he is in. that gives that "sweet" sound.

  • ohhh ok. explains a lot. i didn't know that about BB. thanks.

but one more thing, just to clarify. is A major pentatonic the same thing as the C major scale?

  • No.. The A minor pentatonic scale is the relative minor of C Major scale (Same key really.. just different home note). B.B. King combines the minor and major pentonic scales when he solos.. Thats why it sounds happy and joyful.. instead of SRV or Albert King were its in your face minor blues. This is possible because all the notes B.B. plays is still in the same key (major scale).

  • after watching the video again and reading your comment i think i understand it. i kind of saw it as creating different scale shapes by combining the major and minor pentatonic shapes. very interesting. i'm off to go play around with it now

  • there in that box so there they can work in a sweet way.and you can add notes from the a pentatonic in there also!
