  • right about 8:18 you're talking about what to call those individual sections, in botany we call them carpels.

  • I love your videos, I'm learning so much! Will you make more? Hope so!

  • Wow. This is fascinating!

  • 8:28 MOOKACEPTION. :D

  • In the beginning of this video you use a ( I presume it to be ) a pen, but I've never seen one like that. Does anyone know more information on it, a name? It creates very interesting line quality.

  • 5:34 reminds me of a cell's mitochondrion

  • LOVE THAT HANDWRITING

  • what is that kind of a brush used in the beginning for the calligraphy?

  • Oh my god, I LOVE this! I was mesmerised watching this! I came here because i heard Rachel Brice ( famous tribal fusion belly dancer) mention " Mooka" in an interview! I am going to try this tomorrow.

  • i watched this wearing headphones and it was like rick crept up behind me & startled me when his audio came through my right ear haha. this video is awesome and informative, though. thank you so much! keep making videos please!

  • I love this technique! I've been looking something new to inspire me. I've seen the artist work but, I didn't know what it was called. Thanks for the simple approach.

  • Brilliant ! Excellent... very artistic ... Aloha MB

  • thank you. m

  • I saw Muchas Show in San Diego some years back. Iove his stylings. I cannot get over your calligraphy prowess. I am blown away.

  • Thanks everyone for your kind comments. We really do love Zentangle and think it has an important place in the art world and in our lives. We will continue to develop new and exciting tangles. Watch for more to come. (...and yeah, we are a happy couple!) Rick and Maria

  • Creative genius! I'm hooked on Zentangles. It's relaxing, fun and the possibilities are endless. You are a happy couple and it shows. Thank you for giving to us in such a unique way.

  • Goodbye social life - The Mooka's are calling me. Haha

  • Goodd !! very good !!!!!!!!!!

  • What I love about you guys is that you both aren't super perfectionists! Like how your lines aren't straight as can be &i like that. Sorry if that seems like an insult but it teaches me as an aspiring artist that it's okay to be a little rough with your art &still can make beautiful pieces of art, thanks!

  • scratch my brain

  • I have a question. Why not teach some Zentangle classes online on either ning or ustream? Some people can't get to an outside class for various reasons. It would be great for busy people or home bound people and agorophobics and ill people to be able to take a class from home.

  • I so hope you will make more videos! It is relaxing as well as informative to watch you :-)

  • Love this!!! I've been having a ball creating Mooka!!!! Please make more vids - you guys are great!

  • Interesting! I was doing these years ago while at school to pass away the time during a lesson. I called mine 'doodles'! Complex, but still doodles. I think yours are really doodles for adults who like to create. Not to take anything away from you, but let's not call these anything else! They're doodles!

  • Would love to see Mooka in metal. Beautiful tangle

  • The pen I use in the opening scene is a n 1800's reproduction , an oblique holder with a vintage nib. For writing Spencerian or copperplate. Maria

  • Beautiful! Mucha is actually my favorite artist, lol. I do have a guestion though--what type of pen is that you are using in the opening scenes? I recognize it is a calligraphy pen--what is its name--it looks very cool!

  • Absolutely amazing! I am so excited to do this, actually I'm addicted to it and can't stop! Please share more ideas! Thank you for this inspiration!!!!!!!

  • Can't wait to try this!

  • HELLO OR HOLA MRS. HOFER!!!

    THIS ES SABIO!!

  • Thanks so much for sharing these "Zentanglian creations". What I love is that when you show us these..we are able to go beyond just copying what you've done, but they are so easily morphed into our own unique take on the basic shape. Please keep bringing us these videos...I love "Tangling"... Thank you both!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Thanks to everyone who has helped me to pronounce this name right. I was corrected 40-something years ago (by a teacher) saying the right way to say it was "Mooka" (of course I was calling him "Moocha") .... but, hey, I still like the guy.... I think I'll just call him "Al". Maria Thomas

  • You guys are solo much fun! I just love the personality that you have brought to this art form. Thank you! I'm going to get certified one day! Dolittlesart

  • LOVE it! Thank you!

  • This tangle is awesome!! BTW, google Mucha and you will find it pronounced Muxa, Mookha and a couple of other ways.

  • Hi, Rick and Maria!

This looks so wonderful...it also has a bit of a Celtic feel, too!

  • Love this video and the new tangle...can't wait to try it out! It reminds me of an old fairy tale kind of, I love how fluid it is.

  • love it.

  • I've always loved Mucha and have one of his books. This is a fabulous new tangle! Now, if I could only be as precise as you! I'm curious to see what mine are going to look like.

  • Wonderful vid and tangle, but I agree with the comment below about the name of it. Mooha, not Mooka, please..

  • Wow ... so inspiring. I scrapbook and I'm going to take a stab at using this technique on some of my pages. tfs. :)

  • Great, can't wait to play

  • Great video. I've been waiting for you to post this since the seminar.

  • I've always heard the last name as "moo ha". Do a search on wikipedia for Alphonse Mucha.

  • What fun! I am mesmerized by your oblique pen in action. Wow. Thanks so much for another great video.

  • You guys did such a phenomenal job with this video and this wonderful tangle! Oh it is just lovely.

  • Rick & Maria - Love the video! More exclamation marks!!! I so enjoy hearing you speak about your process as well. That is so valuable to those who have not had the pleasure of being with you at the Certification training in Whitinsville. After watching this, you come away with a real feel for the Zentangle philosophy. Great job and love the new tangle too! Melissa H., CZT #4

  • Awesome new tangle. I love the "Mooka!" Thanks for sharing.
