I loved her grace and gentlewomanly demeanour all those years ago. She has apparently developed into a great tennis administrator and a witty and intelligent woman, as no doubt she was before. I am so pleased to have stuimbled upon this video of her.
@dosh225 That shouldnt make any difference,we should get a petition going to get a court named after her at the Australian Open. After all she is one of the all time greats. She was at Wimbledon this year and the cheers she got from the crowd where overwhelming. So come on Australia honour one of your greatest stars!
Evonne left tennis for a long time when she had her baby. If she had played just HALF of the number of games that Evert played, surely Evonne would have won more than Evert. Evonne had skill all over the court... including at the net, whereas Evert sucked at the net, and could only stay back at the base line vollying and hoping the opponant would flub her shot.
i love evonne, and you can't find a classier player. but evert beat a lot of players who were better at net than she was. evonne had more natural talent, but evert did more with what she had than evonne did. chris would pin her to the baseline, and the ground strokes often overcame the all court game. but i do agree with nightmale 1 that she was the most elegant and graceful.
You people all need help ... what does her gain have to do with her as a person and what does slaming a great champion like Chris do ? Make u feel better ?
A lot of great female athletes, since retirement, have put on some weight (Shirley Babashoff, Billie Jean King, and some others). But it's life, you know. You can't look 19 all your life, you know.
The most elegant and graceful tennis player EVER! ,also one of the best sports in the game,a great sense of fairplay,if only you never went "WALKABOUT" so often, you surely would have won even more Grandslam titles. You where a pleasure to watch.
that was the beauty of her. She still won 7 slams, 92 singles titles, was ranked no 1 on 1976 and gave Evert and Martina a run for her money. 2 wimby's is no small feat you know...
Totally agree with everything you say(think i still have a slight crush on her!) Why dosent the Australian open have a court named after her?,surely she deserves it.

Kind of difficult to look at her. Her change is so drastic. I hope healthwise she's okay. I hope she didn't just let herself go.

What a shame to see that she gained so much weight. She was such an attractive and elegant player on the court.

I really admire Evonne...too bad I never got to see her play in real live, she was such a graceful shotmaker.

Evonne seems like the same graceful, lighthearted, gracious woman she was 35 years ago.
