Got it in one. It's standard practice in any live fire circumstance to alert your team or squad that you're reloading. That means less chance of just getting killed and more chance of going home in one piece. It's the same as shouting "Frag out" or some other warning when throwing an explosive device It's just proper battlefield behavior.
