This is the only console so far that I wanted and never got... I played it on a few occasions back in the day and I thought this console was amazing, there was something about the games - maybe it was their arcade feeling, that made the dreamcast stand out. If it would've had more games I would have bought it... Now I regret it... The only excuse I have is that I was a poor teenage kid back then and I could only afford one console at a time ( I still do but now it's because I have a stupid gf ).

So, Sonic 3D is the 3D debut of sonic, not Adventure. Oh, and don´t forget Sonic R on the Saturn, full 3D Sonic game years before adventure.

it was to dark,i remember it beeing faster,but the graphics wheren't as bright wich was a bit of a let down.i remember beeing impressed by the so called weaker dc version and beeing un impressed by the x box one.i got the dc one 1st.it's like 3rd strike on the xbox it doesn't look as sharp as on dreamcast.and if i wan't to see a movie i'l go watch a blue ray or something btw shenmue 1+2 are already on dvd if i recall.it's useless to play 1 on dc and 2 on xbox.

Faster? I'm guessing you're referring to the framerate, in which case framerate is more important to me than graphics. And yeah you're right about 3rd Strike, it always struck me as odd that the graphics in the Xbox version wasn't as vibrant as the Dreamcast version, but let's be realistic, it's not something that can be noticed unless you're intentionally comparing both versions. But other than that, the Dreamcast version of 3rd Strike sucks ass anyway :P

Besides the graphics, the Xbox version was much closer to the arcade version (original music, cross-ups, unblockables etc.). Apparently the PS2 version of 3rd Strike is arcade-perfect, but it didn't get released in Europe.

Also, I don't think you should judge a system's library of games by it's unreliability. Look at the PS1, that system was unreliable as fuck but it's library is formidable. The difference is though, you can now play PS1 games on the PS2 and PS3, which were both much more reliable consoles. For the Dreamcast, well, you NEED a Dreamcast :P I agree that the Mega Drive/Genesis and Saturn were better in hardware AND software, but the Dreamcast is still great nonetheless.

I got a Dreamcast soon after it was released here in the UK which was in the October of 1999. I hadn't used the console for about the last 5 years but have now started using it again for about 3 months.

I realise that it's still a great console and the games I own after buying them via Amazon are: Shenmue, Shenmue 2, Skies Of Arcadia, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter 3 TB, F355 Challenge Passione Rossa & Metropolis Street Racer.

Definitely pick one up before you play 2 if possible. I wouldn't say it would ruin the sequel for you but it would just make you have a whole heck of a lot more fun with it. Depending on which version of the sequel you get, you may or may not have a movie that explains the first game

The "second generation" Dreamcast games (Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue 2, Quake III, Le Mans) boast very high texture detail.

Early DC games have not aged well, but interestingly, the later DC games hold up very well indeed. Whilst many PS2 games are riddled with blurry, washed out textures, Skies of Arcadia, Quake III, and Shenmue 2 are remarkably crisp.

Awesomeness!!!! I never had a dreamcast but I wish I did. At that time when the dreamcast was out, it had the best graphics... I think better than ps2 and similar to the wii. Dreamcast was advanced at that time. Why did they stop making consoles? I wish they bring it back again I'll definitely buy one! Or bring out a better sega console. However, most likely it won't ever happen. But who knows.
