  • Always liked this tune! Showed his diversity on an LP with some real ROCKERS! He revisits it on his new STANDARDS album. VERY NICE!!!

  • that bass Linda is holding is the actual one the bass player in Elvis Presleys band used..

  • @onlyjoetee and she doesn't know how to play that either!!

  • @DELHOOLY she's not a bass player,lol...

  • @onlyjoetee or a musician... still love her! RIP

  • @DELHOOLY she definitely had some musicality tho,she musta done, you cant keep up with Paul McCartney if you dont...

  • Aw, look how young and handsome Paul was in this video. Nice song, too.

  • ok

this is supposed to make you think of the Western Desert in WW2

its a small show for the troops.

  • Is that George Harrison sitting donm playing the guitar?

  • @monkee2178 Silly monkey. :-)

  • I don't remember this TV show at all. Was it broadcast in the U.S.?

  • @RichYan33 I remember a couple videos from BACK TO THE EGG being shown on some US special but not the entire original show.

  • Another example of the pure songwriting genius of Sir Paul. Even though the video is really not appropriate for this song (why not a nightclub filled with military personnel, or an after-hours bar scene?) it is still a great song. McCartney is the Beethoven of our generation.

  • Hey JAN.....for disliking McCartney so much, you sure do spend a lot of time watching HIS music....whats the matter...NO WHAM VIDEOS AVAILABLE?????

  • billing them as paul mccartney and wings is an insult to steve lawrence, denny linda and all others who ever were a part of this funky unit, why enccourrage a personal cult, Paul mccartney and wings is not even stated on the album cover, I have both the cd i vinyl issue (uk cd, swedish lp)

  • @janfreidun

You must be a new McCartney fan. The credit on Wings albums sometimes said 'Paul McCartney and" and sometimes it just said 'Wings'. Also, Steve Lawrence was a popular singer who sometimes performed with his wife and sometimes solo, but he never performed with Wings. And aside from Denny Laine, few members of Wings really ever brought anything to the group that Paul couldn't have brought to it himself. (See 'Tug Of War', 'Flaming Pie', and 'Chaos And Creation In The Backyard'.)

  • @reverendflash

I think you're trying to be a bit of a smartarse here. It's obvious that janfreidun meant steve, lawrence (though I think he meant Laurence as in Laurence Juber), denny. linda and all others . Apart from that I more or less agree with everything else you say. :-)

  • all songs except for the ones on red rose and band on the crap should be billed WINGS, thats what they are, it's wings through and through as a solid unit not paulmc ego and wings!

  • @janfreidun Yeah. Take Paul McCartney and his songs out of Wings. He did nothing for Wings. I wasn`t like he wrote and sang every single fucking hit they had, and didn`t need anybody else than himself to make it work. In fact his first two solo albums "McCartney" and "Ram" is much better than most of his Wings stuff. Paul McCartney IS Wings.

  • @Yellyist No one else including the Beatles would do the turn up unannounced and play colleges like Paul wanted to do (their compromise to this idea was the rooftop concert). Hence he created Wings to do this since the rest of the fab four rejected the idea.

  • I have been listening to Beatles' music (and also to their solo work) for years. But, since I hadn't bought many of the fab four's solo recordings over the years, I am not intimately familiar with their solo careers (beyond what is most well known and is played on the radio). Recently, with the aid of YouTube, I have been digging deep into Paul's catalog and have been pleasantly surprised by the incrediable richness there. I now see that he is truly one of the greatest of all time.

  • Baby's Request was directed by Keith (Keef) MacMillan at Camber Sands in Kent UK (1979) using three IVC 7000 video cameras. Lighting Director was John Henshall. Cameramen :

Dave Swan Barrie Dodd and Jim McGee

  • He did write this for The Mills Brothers and yes that is Bill Black's bass (Elvis's bass player) that Linda is holding. She bought it for Paul on his 35th Birthday. The beach is at Camber Sands, Kent. It took 8 takes to get this film due to the 'walking around the vehicles'.

  • Thank you Kimians, for the trivia. Love it. And this is just another of Paul's amazing "old time" songs. It's obvious that he has a love of 20's and 30's music with songs like Honey Pie (White Album), You Gave Me The Answer (Venus&Mars), and this song. Most would think he's doing a re-make, but he can write that stuff as good as anyone of that era.

  • Bill's bass

  • I think he wrote this for the Mills Brothers. I love it

  • woohoo! this was so great :D

  • One of my favorites from 1979! Thanks for posting this :-)

  • I love this guy

  • nice beach!!! where is it?

  • i love this song

  • I can't believe I missed this one all these years... amazing. What a treat!!

He's like a complex painting- the more you look, the more you see.

  • It's Macca. No need for flashing lights, fancy editing or anything else. A great song filmed with no edits, no break in the action. Well thought out video and very well executed.

  • the greatest composer of our time!!!! i've always loved songs like this and other's he has done through the years in a similar vein (i.e; honey pie, when i'm 64, etc...)

  • Every song he does is a winner!Paul is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy! The greatest composer indeed!

  • that's a beautiful sentiment deutschename - I sincerely believe The Beatles (as a group and solo artists) were a wonderful gift from God to the world. They have brought so much joy to lives that can have so much heartache too.

  • This is the first time I've every heard this song or even seen this video. I love it! All this great entertainment just at our fingertips!

  • Amazing... just think. This whole music video was shot entirely in one take. Paul made no mistakes, the cameraman made no mistakes. If you notice, there is no splicing in the video at all. It's a continuous two and a half run.
