Northriver made a 22' seahawk with that same engine in 2007. I've been in it several times and its a kick to drive...A little sluggish out of the hole but a power house after that.. With the current prop he can run 48mph. And cruise at 35 consuming 6 gph..It will be on the columbia river killing springers this year.. You cant miss it.. Its got a sign that says Yanmar Diesel power on the side of it.. cuts through chop awesome and will turn very tight..
This motor has a waste gated turbo so the turbo lag is minimal. When runnign rapids you're already into the boost since the rpms are already up. It will out run a 5.7 and a little less than a 6.0. A 5-7 will turn a 2.4kw impeller, the 6BY turns a 2.7 and the 6.0L will turn a 2.8 all turning them a little over 4000 rpm. Thank you for the compliments, its a very fun boat.
that is an amazing boat! i know you need some pretty quick throttle response when running rapids. with the diesel, do you have it or is there a pretty good turbo lag? will that motor run with/ out run a well built 5.7L or 6/0L? would love to know. thanks.
This engine requires about 20~30 sec. in idle for turbo lubrification reasons?
