Ew some of those bugs were moving! The Great Wall is such an amazing place. The stairs are spaced out so differently that it gets to be difficult to climb
I was in Beijing around Christmas time last year! Thankfully, it wasn't snowing or raining in all of the days I was there (I was only there for 4 days). I loved it there. <3
great video again man! i was wondering, did you bring a laptop with you on your travels or how are you editing your videos? i'm heading out to south east asia for 6 weeks this summer and debating whether to carry a laptop around with me or not haha
@ad84 Yes, I've been using a laptop to edit and upload all my videos. It has also been extremely helpful for booking hostels and doing research on the internet - most of the places I've stayed at have had wi-fi connections available.
@ResetLiveGrow thanks for replying! were you not worried about someone stealing your laptop though? also what kind of a laptop do you have? i'm thinking of maybe buying a slim portable one since my one is basically one heavy brick lol
@ad84 No, I wasn't too worried about someone stealing my laptop - as long as you keep an eye on it or lock it up in a secure place while you're out, you shouldn't have any problems. Just don't be careless and leave it unattended! I originally wanted to bring a small netbook, but I quickly realized that they aren't really powerful enough to do the video editing that I need to do. So I ended up getting a macbook pro - it's a bit big, but it does an amazing job.
@ResetLiveGrow yeah i was thinking of getting a small notebook too but if they can't handle video programs i guess there's no point :( thanks for the info bro!
Well back in 2010 i was traviling to england and staying at my freinds but when i was on the way back to spain i was stopped at the security gates. They took my ipod off me and my phone plus i missed my plane and needed to wait for 6 hours. I like that slide i will like to go on one of them oh and did you see the statue army.
@VersionCharged ouch, sounds like it was a bad day for you. :( As for the statue army (terracotta warriors, I presume?) No, I didn't get to see them, because I only visited Beijing while I was in mainland China. I'll have to check them out next time!
In 2008 we flew to SL around the end of December and our initial flight flight was rescheduled so we had to leave the next day...we found this out at the airport the day b4. Then leaving from Calg the next day or plane was delayed b/c the Van city airport was shutdown due to the bad weather (the pilot needed to come from Van) so we missed our connecting flight in frankfurt. All in all not a great experience and a lot of wait time in connecting airports. Hoping to visit SL again but not in Dec
@rnilanka ugggh... I hate long waits at the airport! I had to wait in Singapore for 9 hours on the way to Sri Lanka, but luckily they had free wi-fi in the airport, so I was able to pass the time by surfing the net.
@jodeemareegreen2 My parents were born in Sri Lanka, but they're living in the USA now. I'll get to visit them in another 3 months or so. However, I still have some relatives in SL, and I'll be staying with them while I'm there.
had a switch-blade that fell into my dress shoes form my desk and packed it without realizing...was cuffed and taken to jail...got out on bail and quite a few thousand dollars later had the potential felony wiped from my record
that was amazing footage of the great wall; i have never seen it so empty and peaceful! glad you got a taste of winter over there too...apparently there was more snow than anticipated across china this year, so maybe that's why it seemed colder than it should have been. also...sri lanka!! can't wait to see that video, i have a close friend who is sri lankan and i've never been!
@itsjustyu Yeah, I guess it seemed especially cold for me since I've spent so much time in warmer climates over the past several months. But it's all good - I'm in Sri Lanka now and it's roasting hot over here! It's a very exciting time in SL because the Cricket World Cup is being co-hosted here... I'm trying my best to get tickets to one of the matches - we'll see how it goes.
I haven't experienced a LOT of hassle at ONE airport in particular but my trip to the US was really weird. in 2006 I (17 at the time), my sister (12) and my parents went on a month trip to the US (We're from Denmark). Apparently the anti-terror computer programme they had installed found our surname "Sørensen" very suspicious, and we were taken to the side to be searched and questioned in all airports we went to: JFK,SFO,LAX and IAD (D.C.). But it all just added to the experience to be honest:)
@RFOMLethal Losing your baggage must've been awful - fortunately, I haven't had to deal with a situation like that so far. The food was fun to eat - I'd recommend trying it out if you get a chance!
hajaj another awesome video! Make sure to visit any cricket stadium and capture a glimpse of the crazy atmosphere (the world cup is taking place there right now ;)
@LOLMAN22 Yeah, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to get tickets to at least one of the World Cup matches. I've been watching most of the games on TV so far - pretty exciting!
haven't seen u for awhile. it was good to see u enjoyed beijing! the t-shirt in the beginning was jokes. Looking forward to see Sri Lanka. Do u still have family there?
@ozzy78 Yup, I still have a grandmother and a few uncles/aunts in Sri Lanka... I just arrived a few days ago and it's been a lot of fun so far. I'm probably going to gain 10 lbs while I'm here - they've been feeding me sooo much food!
Great video! Thanks! I've had scorpion (and also starfish and centipede) at a different night market in Beijing. My scorpion doesn't seemed to have been as tasty as yours seems to have been. Cat meat!!?? Yikes! But, of course, most Chinese don't eat any of those weird things, so it's also a tourist attraction for them. I've not been back to Beijing for a long time. Having seen your video, I'm eager to go back.
@smurashige Yeah, I thought the same thing when they told me they had cat meat... yuck! The starfish looked potentially tasty, but I didn't get around to trying it.
Gahhh Greece! I was taken for interrogation because they were convinced I was a prostitute hell knows why (was wearing jeans and a T-shirt lol)...they were constantly talking in greek...I was refused a translator...luckily my friend who was with me had an american passport and told them we are not interested in staying in their country except for visiting...yeah and that ended it...I guess having a US passport sometimes helps huh?
@butovas sounds like it was a pretty rough experience. :( Yeah, my passport has helped me get out of a few sticky situations so far - I'm really thankful to be Canadian!
@SunBeamsan The mainland wasn't that bad - I didn't get to explore very much of it, so I'll probably take another trip there later on in the future. I'm not sure if I'll be able to head to Singapore on this trip, but perhaps at a later date.
This was such a fantastic update! The section of the Great Wall you visited looks amazing - so quiet and still in all the snow. I can't believe you ate scorpion! Were some of those actually still alive on the sticks before being deep-fried?!
@tezziToo I'm glad that I decided to go to the Mutianyu section of the wall. It's a little further away from the city center than some of the other sections, but the extra travel time was worth it. And the fact that I went in winter meant that there were even less tourists than normal. And the scorpions - yeah some of them were still crawling on the skewers before they were deep-fried!!!
the most annoying question asked at the airport...hmmm well i think it would be:" do your parents know about you??":))))))))
