@deskmist GT5P does have H-gate support for many, but not all, cars. You press triangle just after the race starts to enable it. I just happened to use seq, no reason, just felt like it. Hopefully they have FULL H-gate support in the full version when it comes out...pressing triangle is annoying.
@deskmist it's supported for most, but not all cars. You press triangle shortly after the race begins to enable it. The day I made the video, just felt like using seq.
Some advice, as I have this stand also. The shifter adapter is $20 not $25 and if you order it with the stand you won't have to pay any extra shipping for it. Also, you should tighten the front clamps on the G25 to the steel plate using the plastic extension adapters that came with the G25 for thin mounts. The G25 only bolts on at the back and when you tighten the front clamps it has no movement at all. Another difference is that for tilt mine uses the big alan key and not a wrench.
Wish I could get one of these, out of stock until september for the stand itself and even longer for the G25 adapter :/, might have to go for a Wheel Stand Pro, reviews are generally good for it but some mention a bit of wobble at times
I'm pretty sure that $179 for WSP is more than $129 that the Rennsport costs, even with the G25/911 shifter adapter which is $20 it's still $30 cheaper.
And WSP isn't even compatible with the 911 Turbo wheel and I have both.
Yes, truly a performance worthy of a wheel bolted to a coffee table or computer desk. Fortunately, after playing for 4 months on the wheelstand I am a little better now. I'm riding a motorbike now too, so I have a newfound respect for other cars. ;)
im going to purchase this wheel because it got clutch pedal, but, i see u didnt use it at all. .? does it have any function on gran tourismo 5? especially when changing gear like real car.
Yes the clutch works for most cars. Just press the triangle button before the race starts. I just happened not to use it in this video, though I do use the clutch a lot of the time.
I'm very close buying a new steeringwheel (mainly for GT5 Prologue), and I would like to have the H-shifter+clutch. Is the G25 still the best, or does anybody know if the Fanatec wheel is any better?
And by the way.. Many of the videos I've seen with G25 + GT5, you can see that the ingame steering wheel is reacting quite slow, and that it dosn't turn the same number of degree's like the real one. Is all that just to blame bad adjustments??
I've never used the Fanatec wheels, but I can say that the G25's H shifter is a little loose and light. It can be modified. As for 900 degrees in GT5 Prologue, my understanding is that only the animation is gimped. I think the car reacts to the 900 degree turning. I rarely use the in-car view, though. I read somewhere the full GT5 may update the incar animation to show full 900 steering. Not confirmed tho.
I've heard about that lightness in the H-shifter too. I'm glad to hear about the non-900 degree turning "in-game wheel", as long as the cars WHEELS react accuratly to the G25's movements I'll be happy :P
Definitely. My lap times are faster. I find my braking is more accurate especially, and there's no comparison for steering. The wheel wins. But it takes practise because it's sensitive. And you have to spend time in each game adjusting the dead zone/feedback strength etc. Do it!
I've never used a wheel before. But it looks cool.
How much harder is it over the normal pad? Is it easy to adjust? I'm just worried using a wheel is going to be extremely hard so I don't want to end up 'wasting money' :P
You'll love it. At first it's harder, but once you tweak the sensitivity in your game and do a few races, I bet you will never go back. Wheel › controller 100%
Hey man how would this do with a recliner chair? Preferably the recliner POÄNG from ikea?
I noticed that this only sits up straight and since my chair reclines I'm not sure how it would work.
Fanatec is only charging me $10 USD to ship a nearly 30 pound product, amazing. As soon as I find out if this does well with a recliner chair I'll buy it.
Tough call. Generally I would say it would work with any chair, however it would be best if the chair is in an upright position. The wheel stand is designed to be locked in at 90 degrees. But the wheel can come up quite high if height is a concern. Good luck.
Ebay maybe? I've never seen them for sale by themselves though. Maybe you can find a cheap used G25 and just take it apart. Also check Kijiji if you're in US or Canada.
Do you know if the porsche pedals will work with the G25, because my pedals of the G25 are broken and you cant get them. i only want the pedals but logitech dousnt do that. so im wondering if the porsche pedals will work with the G25, if so im gonna order them.
I already own the PlaySeats evo chair, and extantion cost me 50 dollars as well and it was more then lil pice of metal.. so yeah it's bit over priced. It should be 40 with delivery cost.
I'd say it's a good option for a second setup. (ie) for when you want to do some local split screen driving, rather than just taking turns in the "big chair". Obviously it's a good choice for people with space issues, since you can just fold it up and put it in a closet - but for someone like yourself who already has a sweet setup - also worth a look.
very good video & test!
thanks!

Is there no support for the H-gate in this game? Is that why you are using sequential?

Yes good advice on the plastic adaptors, they attach perfectly and make it extra snug.

The Rennsport stand says it's in stock at Fanatec

I'm in the UK
"Out of stock! Pre-order is possible now.
In stock again in September."
MiikeDante 2 years ago 2
I'm in Canada so I guess it's only in stock in their California warehouse. Says "In stock and available for immediate shipping" for me.
Are you sure you're not looking at the Turbo S wheel which won't be out until late September?

playseats suck, they wobble especially if you're over 6' and over 200lbs

He could have reversed that pole so the knob faced the other way, but he didn't, LOL.

nah, wheelstand pro isn't anywhere near as sturdy and costs more.

Fruity,
I dont see anything wrong.. it's not like he does not use proper racing lines, or purposely bump into the ai cars ....
I've seen worse.. and they are all here in youtube.

Thanks for the review. Any idea if this stand is compatable with the Logitec Driving Force GT?

From the website:
- Compatible with all Fanatec Porsche and Speedster racing wheels
- Other makes:
Logitech: Driving Force, Driving Force Pro, G25
Microsoft wireless wheel

Nice review!
I´m thinkin of order one unit.
Don´t you think it is possible to ask someone to make the shifter part? it is quite simple no? and 50 bucs for a metal perfurated plate seams alot!
thanks for the review!

Yes it's definitely possible. It's just a piece of metal with four holes.

I think it's about $130 US for the stand and another $25 for the shifter attachment. Plus shipping costs, tax, duty, etc. Not too bad I guess.
