All this guy does is play patterns and scales really fast. And are you guys insane LMFAO??? If this isn't a case of one person blatantly copying another, then what is exactly?
you know I play both Malmsteen and Stump and they are both different. Stump has a Blackmore feel and is more riff based, Malmsteen songs are not the same. Only ppl who are not truly familiar w/ neoclassical style consider stupm a rip off he is totally original and great
When Stump gave lessons in the South End of Boston in the 80's he didn't even like metal,he just adopted the speed-metal moniker so he could release 5-minute solos and call them songs.Metronomic note playing is soulless technique.
Stump is the law Guys In Contemporary Guitar Playing Don´t Get Confussed!!!! He COMBINED THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS THE THECHNIQUE AND SPEED OF MALMSTEEN AND THE BAD ASS AGRESSION OF KERRY KING WITHOUT BEING ANY OF THEM BELIEVE ME THIS GUY IS THE SHIT, FOR EX I CAN PLAY A GOOD COVER OF YNWGIE AND SOME GUYS I KNOW CAN KERRY KING ITS EVEN EASIER BUT TO MESS WITH STUMP IS JUST SUICIDE.....
i checked yngwies and joes equipment. they are using all the same except guitar brand. (joe - ESP, Yngwie -Fender) Joe is even using yngwie signature dimarzio pickups. wannabe
dont get me wrong, this song is totally ok.
fact: yngwie is original, stump is his copy
paul gilbert and john petrucci are the best living shredders. +shawn lane when he was alive
Come on guys. There's no need to compare him or criticize or anything. Just sit back and enjoy the music. That's why Joe wrote it and that's what its all about. Enjoying the music!!!! Cheers
Today's shredmeisters all ripped off Ritchie Blackmore, but so what? Ritchie ripped off Django Reinhardt, and Django ripped off Paganini. Who knows at this point who Paganini
ripped off. Giuliani? Carcassi? Does it matter? No! All musicians rip off their influences, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. That's partly how musicians develop a working musical vocabulary to draw on when writing, improvising, etc.
@pokbacsi100 I'd add to what you said that no one creates music from nothing, even the first musician dude on earth could have just copied from birds and nature to make his very first song.
STUMPY JOE?? DIDN'T THIS GUY PLAY DRUMS FOR SPINAL TAP AND INTERNALLY COMBUST?? Seriously, vicious tone and very nice technique, my brother had his classes in Boston.
Yep - to the guy's credit, he cites Yngwie (publically) as a major influence. There's also the fact that you can't have too many of these guys - in my opinion...
I know Joe. His guitar hero is Yngwie. He has taken what Yngwie does and has made it better. Joe is a friend of mine. He is not pretentious. He does what he does. If you are uneducated and cannot see what Joe does.. so be it.
been there, great night! He's a really nice guy, and he doesn't feel Yngwie as a concurrent, but as a good friend... something lot of you guys won't recognise!
Finally... someone who understands Joe.. Thank you for commenting! My son studied under Joe, he is such a sweet guy. Joe is a part of our family and always will be. He is so humble.. and just so nice. Joe is just the best of the best. He admires Malmsteen as a guitar hero, but certainly, takes it several steps farther. Even though he doesn't proclaim to be better. Now, that's a REAL man.
amazing performance wish i could find a hd video of stump shredding

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Nope. No. Kerry King is one of the greatest shredders alive. According to me, that is.
Elembivos 2 years ago
Kerry king is awesome, but i think he is more of a monster chop riffer than a virtuoso shredder
infectionsman 2 years ago 4
Correct - King is tha riffmeister. Heavy shit!

Joe even uses Malmsteen's Dean Markley Signature strings.
He uses the same picks with his own signature on them, i would not be surprised if Stump went from Dimarzio to Seymour Duncan like Malmsteen has.
TrevorWilsonHimself 1 year ago
I wouldnt be suprised if he married Yngwie's ex-wife!
michaels2boys 1 year ago 4
well he has taken everything else Malmsteen does or possesses and done the same thing but not as good, so maybe it may happen.
i don't know if i am joking or being serious.

Malmsteen is overrated.

"made it better"? cmon dude, Joe's kinda sloppy
, loses time here and there and not quite as fluid and instinctive as Yngwie--in his younger days especially. Joe Stump has skills, but still
pretty choppy.
avyee123 3 years ago
Stump plays stuff Yngwie can't even imagine, that's the main difference. Yngwie's also booooring when he improvises.
jfutach 3 years ago 2
