Nevermind the previous comment.....i downloaded cal3d exporter. But i cant find a way to export them....3dsMax won't show those types of file.....what should i do?
@guitar3421 What version of Max do you have? If you have the demo version then you cannot use it to create products. If you have purchased a full version of Max then make sure that you have the right cal3D installed. Just go to the education center and type in "3D exporters" into the search. (tutorial_id=5395841)
@MadNDesign i have 2009 3ds max full version. not cracked....could you log on on imvu so we can talk directly?-(name: carl3421)-....i am so close on uploading it....i am frustfrated to the bone.....v.v
@guitar3421 I am not on the client... basically ever. I don't have time to log in, sorry. Creating products is a lot of trial and error, that's how I taught myself how to do it all. If you are stuck, then just try something basic, like a cube, and skin it to a root node, add a texture and then export everything. Try to put together the most simple item that you can before you start on more advanced stuff. If you're having an error with the Cal3D exporter then I suggest reinstalling it.
@guitar3421 Max 2009 does not have an exporter. I just had to go back to Max 7. I was having no joy with the exporter in Max 7 I believe it was cause I have a virus. Getting rid of the virus meant I lost a few Windows files and the best advice I got from the forum was to download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). My exporter works but I kind of lost out buy Max 2009 if I stick to IMVU
Done with everything......but can't export the skeleton file.....and even if i manualy type butterfly.xsf it says ''Don't know how to export fyle type''........Damn Dx
if i export only the one mesh it doesnt show the butterfly in the imvu when i follow all the steps. please help asap. how are you properly exporting ur mesh and how am i doing it improperly?
@warriorbysword2 If you ever get an error when exporting the mesh it usually has to do with object selection. It sounds to me like you may have the bone selected when you are trying to export and not the mesh itself. When you export the skeleton file you need to have the root node of the bone selected (the top of the skeleton's hierarchy). When you export meshes you need to have the mesh that you are trying to export selected. When you export materials you should have nothing selected.
everytime i export i get an error it says select one and only one mesh. do you know how to fix this? I did what you said and unfroze everything. please help.
great tutorial thanks
