The GOP has been hijacked by the lunatic fringe in this country that wants to take us back to the days of the robber barons, and to the old west with gun slingers, etc. The Dems are fighting them off heroically to protect some level of civility and humanity.

I think you're giving the Dems too much credit. The Dems are just as bought and paid for as the Republicans are, maybe not to the same degree or number, but bought just the same. Don't be an apologist for people just because of what letter follows their name. Look at the evidence and you'll see neither party as a whole are working for the best interests of the American people.

@PhilipPorter Actually, stupidity and bigotry are typical not only of the GOP and the far right, but religious and anti-religious reactionaries as well. They all pick and choose their own version of reality without regard for truth. Critical thinking, open-minded (i.e. liberal) people don't do that--whether we are part of a religious tradition or not.
