  • beastly ugly

  • They didn't make this car yet and it's 2012!

  • ugly car.. BMW i8 is much better

  • We need to implement online electric vehicle technology. It's much more efficient to move the energy than to store the energy in a heavy battery, then move the battery around.

    /watch?v=IXGaTTl75IM

  • 0:12 wow.. LOL really ?

  • k, now make an affordable one

  • Knew this was vapor-ware! :P

  • So what now? It's 2012 and I still haven't seen one! :)

  • Was that the guy that said that GM would "sell a car that ran on pig shit" if they could on 'Who Killed the Electric Car?'

  • why they make electric car ugly?

  • 0:32 Audi E-Tron comes to market by the end of 2011... It's the end of 2011 now and I still haven't heard of this car coming to market, Thanks Audi! Audi Chief calls Chevy Volt a car for idiots. At least Chevy followed through with something.

  • camera side mirrors? 1:50 ... Talk about energy saving... beautiful car though :)

  • lol Lotsa hate for the high pricing, but how many here also paid for an expensive smartphone with an unlimited everything plan?

  • $110k for a Tesla Roadster? $40k+ for a Volt? $50k min for a Tesla Model S? And now $200k for this?

    Um, like I really needed a $500 Sony Walkman, or a $1000 VCR, or a $10k plasma HDTV, or a $1000 Blu-ray player, or a $400 iPhone 4S... oh wait ...

  • Audi is the future and Electric Vehicles are the future so this makes sense.

  • Who here still enjoys buying gasoline?

"Boy, I enjoy buying gasoline! I like that its toxic, and carcinogenic, and how the fumes get in hair & clothes. Ditto for car & moped exhaust, too! And I don't really mind shelling out, what, $100 -$200 per month. That's only $1,200 per year at the least. After 10 years that's only $12,000, but, so what, the stock market is rigged anyway..."

  • @TypeORedPill ha ha ha - you think we will have fuel in 10 years ha ha ha

  • Do you purchase a vehicle for its styling, performance, efficiency, price, or for the amount of noise/stink it makes?

  • Jeez, Audi designers. Charging port should have been located so that the charging cable won't scratch the finish.

  • Audi makes some of the fugliest sports coupes in modern history....absolutely horrid.

  • good car, bad price tag

  • what's the point of having a car or motorbike, when they have no engine sound? it is the same like usint the electrick train...bollocks

  • It was uploaded at Dec 17, 2009. Less then 2 years? yeah I'm still waiting.

I swear nissan kicks everybody asses with the leaf.

  • Because only the rich, famous and highly influential people would care about the environment...

  • @Adayum27

Lol electric cars are no longer simply environment friendly vehicles. Realize, that real soon all these nice fancy gas cars you all drive are going to become outdated the moment the military decides to ration out the rest of the oil. =P

Electric cars will become essential real soon, I am not rich and famous, but frankly I care enough to get a nice electric xD

  • Everytime I see an electric car I get my hopes up for a affordable future electric car that can compete with regular cars. Then I remind myself thats been the dream for a lot of people for close to a century.

  • Why they can`t a car manufacture offer a a normal car but with a electric engine like they do with diesels?

  • LOL it was plugged into a diesel generator at the start. If you just used the fuel to directly propel the car you may have had less mechanical/conversion losses and benefited from more if it, creating less greenhouse gasses.

  • It looks like an retarded R8

  • How much torque ? Ohhh myyyy !!

  • WTF how that much torque BAHAHA that thing ould climb up a fucking 70 degree angle!

  • Until EVs can travel for 5,000 miles on a single charge, or there are charging stations, there will be demand for gas vehicles.

  • @seanpull hey dummy you can't drive 5k on a single tank either. You keep buying the gas cars and we will never afford the EV,

  • @heaty007 "OR THERE ARE CHARGING STATIONS". We have re-fueling stations for gas vehicles. That's why, they need to go 5,000 miles on a single charge, OR THERE ARE CHARGING STATIONS. Please read the whole comment before you respond.

  • @seanpull fair enough.

  • @seanpull fair enough.

  • After working for engineers at MIT and intensive study in electro-magnetic fields, I can tell you its very possible. There are research electric cars on roads right now that doesn't require charging. The possibilities are endless. However Lobbyists continue to support Oil companies allowing them to control the operation and necessity of Oil in the world.

  • I really hope electric cars never become the normal.

No engine noise, waiting hours before i can drive anywhere after the battery's depleted stupid idea. Especially for what would essentially be a supercar, engine noise is 50% of the attraction for some cars.

  • @Novocaine888 i aggre,but in some point,look how much money u will save on fuel,on repair,and stuff like that,not to mension 0 tolerence of co2,think green... :)

  • Good. It's about time electric cars started looking cool.

  • I want one! So sexy. With 3000 ft lb torque I'm sure a hand full of these can move a tectonic plate.

  • Electric R8, Awesome!

  • Rather get a car for 150,000 and pay the rest for gas

  • @818mrAlkash nah. we need to push this so we start making it cheaper. electric cars = future.

  • tell me not dosent that remind you of i robot

  • BUY A TOYOTA PRYUS

  • I know it's there because it's familiar, but I think they should ditch the giant grille- Sure, there's a bit of waste heat from the power electronics and the motors, and as mentioned, the batteries, but there's no giant radiator behind that grille!

  • I lost intrest when he said it was probably around at $200,000

  • @evolutionj I Don't know if you noticed but it's not a hatchback it's a sports car, an Audi sports car, not a Honda or a Toyota.

  • lol thats great, make the electric powered vehicle for the rich famous and influential....because petrol prices are a bitch for them clearly.

  • 313 hp????? crazy....

  • That is a beautiful vehicle.

  • Eletric car dont make the world a better place it makes it worse because time after time the battery will usually die permanalty and you cant recycle the battery so you have to buy an expersive ass battery and the old battery will just go in the junk yard

  • @SuperPinhead123 Lithium-Ion batteries are recyclable. And non acidic. Get your facts straight.

  • Cool, i'll be saving up for about 482 years

  • You press the brakes ''bzzz'' you press the gas ''bzzz'' you floor it! ''bzzz'' No thanks... I'm keeping my A6 over this heap of junk any day of the week 24 hours a day.

  • @adythekiller WTF r u talking about I bet you have no clue. Don't get mad bro I'm sure these major car companies know

What the fuck they are doing

  • @exceilence

First off you misspelled your own screen name. Second as for needing fuel for electricity or any power at all. Here is a real science fact for you from somebody who knows what he is talking about. Do you know what produces the most electricity on Earth; of course you don't so I'll tell you. Lightning: also lightning does not need gas to form. Power or electricity is produce from friction that creates heat which is power. In the air it is the electrons from water vapor rubbing toget

  • when it make a 90 deg right angle turn at 5000 mph the consider the name tron

  • why are all car companies making $150k+ electrics? There is NO POINT in marketing an electric car to people that don't give a shit about gas prices. If you've got $200k to get a car, $4/gallon isn't going to bother you. MARKET ELECTRIC CARS TO PEOPLE THAT NEED THEM....ASSHOLES!

  • @00Mandingo00 110% agreed with u

  • Now why dont they build more electric cars that are this beautiful?

I didnt click this video expecting Audi to provide a car for average people (the whole point of electric cars ironically), I just wanted to see if there is some kind of global rule that electric cars must look like crap.

  • i think i just jizzed

  • First beauteful electric car i saw.,rest insect car=peace of shit!

  • @votballer tesla roadster is also pretty!

  • @votballer Tesla Roadster, Tesla Model S, Electric SSC ultimate Aero are all beautiful cars. The Nissan Leaf isn't bad either.. Fits in with the rest of the SUV's of today

  • The battery making process is a bigger pollution than burning fosil fuel !!! This is just marketing, there is no saving at all. You`ll have to change the battery at most 2 years and another battery is 30% of car`s value !

  • @adythekiller look up the facts and stop repeating these lies

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU put a V8 in that audi

  • Still confused how these electric cars have a better battery life than my android *rubs forehead twice*

  • electric cars IT IS FAKE!!!! It is just for ADVERT OF COMPANY.

ALL SCINTISTS SAY THAT IT IS STUPID, BECAUSE FOR MAKING ELECTRICITY YOU NEED TO BURN FUEL!!!

Electric cars is full fake. Just for promotion of compant.

It was said by professor who know what he say.

  • @exceilence That is honestly the stupidest comment I have ever heard, there are so many electricity sources that burn NO fuel. The ones that do, produce so much more power on a ratio in the hundreds compared to the fuel it is using. Electric cars are no hoax, pure modern ingenuity is all it is!

  • @vEkliipze it is the same trash as solar batteries cars.

"Things that are not clear why we need"

Hello from Russia - fuel-oil reach country, bro. Do not be stupid, remember me. Future car - Space cars after 20 years will fly with Russian oil, not with electricity. See you on Moon 20 years later. I will wait you on my LADA with fuel engine.

  • @exceilence Solar panels, water dams, and wind mills are just a handful of technological inventions that came to my mind the moment i read your comment that DO NOT need to BURN FUEL to produce electricity. And can you name one reputable SCIENTIST who would actually agree with your claim?

-Said by a kid who knows what he is talking about

  • 3000 torques!!! GOT DAM!!!!

  • Electricity is in our correctional facilities. Lol

  • SIKK!!!

  • that future looks so NICE!!!!

  • I want one! Bruce Gast ElectricCars com

  • for such a fast car it sure is a slow way of charging... runing a cord to plug it in. Why wouldnt such a fast car have a docking station / chargine PAD no cords just park and its automatically charging? No wires no hassel No gas no fire... just park and its an automatic charge. They have charging pads for your house kitchen and cell phones why not cars?

  • @tinderinc Because there are not enough people with the electric cars to have a, "car charging pad"

  • @XertsSF Someday these plugin electric cars will be like the corded phone... old tech. Everything is cordless everything is wireless. its the future... GMC has a bus that charges wirelessly all citys will have a simualr tech eventually

  • @tinderinc *Correction, GMC is working on a bus that charges wirelessly by passing a bus stop that charges the bus. Sounds odd bus yes that is what it technically is, charging the bus through coils, the stop is energy efficient using solar panels and rain to supply the power.

  • That much torque and it takes 4.8 seconds to a 100 km/h. It should actually send Earth spinning the other way at a 100 km/h in that time..

  • could've at least shown acceleration with that 4k torque under the hood... boring video, imho!

  • Why don't they build electric cars that Look Like the Audi E-Tron??

  • i fucking want to own this car!!

  • 6 hours ?? Fuck you were 's my Ferrari ...

  • if it's not affordable for most people it's no use. electric cars should be as cheap as regular cars, ONLY then revolution will come...

  • Great vehicle!

By the way see also the latest video of the electric powered Zerotracer.

ZerotracerEpisode "Around the World with Zero Emmissions!"

  • Just because it was in our attitude to be lazy, not worry, be ignorant, and believe that the christian god will rain oil over earth.

    Miracles dont happen.

You gotta investigate the rendability of your economy in the future.

Not many countries in the world (none) are really building the foundations for a safe and secure future.

Well see what happens. Hopefully these electric cars will be mainstream by then.

  • I think the most of the "haters" of electric cars and other new technologies for locomotion, (I know that electric technologies aren't really new.) just don't (want to) see that the world needs a change. And the people who think the electric technologie isn't efficient, they should look back about 120 years. What did the most of the people think about the first motocars? Nothing has changed.

  • @Zurigotek

    Your right though.

Something did change however. Clashes between nations to dominate oil flow. Why do you think so many countries are in poverty. They dont have the position, money or power to modernized consumption. Even with the current rich countries our oil will be gone within the next 50years.

  • @Armigo91

If we dont have alternatives by then, we will have a 500million population to run on bycicle or feet. We would have even less power then during the early 20th century cause the balance of the economy was supposed to run half a billion people.

There werent 500million people in the USA during the early 20th century. Like more then a tenfold yes.

Starvation will kill 20times more people then due to the holocaust alone.

  • It has a pig following it .......:/

  • why they wrapped the black wire in grannys underwear?

  • Ugly as hell :(

  • alguien me puede decir cuanto puede llegar a valer este coche¿?

  • The world has used 2.8 Trillion Barrels of Oil. That is 13 craters on Earth each the size of Lake Ontario and 350* ft deep.

  • We NEED to make this affordable to the average citizen.

  • @Raajur i know, but that's not what Audi's are about

  • @Raajur thats not gonna happen u knw

  • So.... this should be coming out, right?

  • super car

  • Wow!! a electric car that looks amazing!! I HOPE NISSAN ARE WATCHING THIS!

  • Comment removed

  • $200K?! FUCK THAT! I'd rather buy or put a down payment on a house.

  • As long as our electricity is produced in nuclear plants or with coal and as long as electric cars are powered by lithium ion batteries that cause more co2 emission during their production than drivin a porsche for 500.000km, as long as those things havn't changed they are not good for the environment

  • 200K? EFF THAT!

  • he is so jewish

  • Keep it simple and clean. Two Electric cars in Garage. Hydrogen system that turns water into hydrogen gas also in garage. Thats for other uses.

  • its good for the environment, its got good features, nothing spectacular... it costs more than ur house probably... it costs more than u can afford... GOOD LUCK PLANET EARTH WE WANT MANSIONS!!!!! AUDIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!

  • that is sweet

  • I don't get the complaining about no sound.......I am a hot rodder, still have a 1969 Olds Ramrod I am restoring have had mopars and fords and chevys which I have restored over time, but I love the EVs - there will be a time when we will think how crazy we were when we had those loud 440 cubic inch engines with glass pack exhaust......I like the fluid speed and instant torque of the electric cars - along with my Olds I have a Saturn which I installed a fork lift motor....it has instant torque

  • Geil

  • NO SOUND ?-maan I want sound , this car is like a fart...silent but deadly....

  • @changsifon

    What?

My farts are loud but friendly... :D

  • we are running out of fuel , war is coming

  • irobot like it is irobot! atleast with regular wheels

  • How would they know? And really, "if not you go somewhere else for another video" right??

  • im starting a electric car company in about 4 years. Look out for Relentless Motors.

  • 3319 torque whattttttt??????? with only 313hp an engine per wheel thats crazy

  • Screw this. Petrol engines 4ever. Half of the comments are made by greenpeace hippies. Don't even try comparing new Audi R8 with the old rednecks SUVs. Electric engine is not the answer !

P.s. Audi Rulzzzzz. But this is yet another nature mistake. IMHO [FAIL]

  • @YaHNoNYX The R8 is a cheap Lambo. This is something exclusive and actually hi-performance with 3300lbs of torque. Put your tailpipe in the center of your steering wheel and rev the engine to enjoy the sounds it makes :D

  • Looks terrible.

  • @DBCOOPER888

    So does your face!

  • How much extra energy is used in manufacturing these, and what about the battery waste after ??

  • No engine sound makes it cool - and it looks sooo good.

  • @Petteriks makes the roads more dangerous as well, with silent cars going around ;)

  • @Petteriks i want one now!!!!!

  • @Petteriks No engine sound makes it dangerous, and boring.

  • @Petteriks No transmission, no fun :(

  • no massive engine sound makes this car shit :(

  • Imagine how clean the air would be in the cities if all cars were electric. Beauty.

  • bye bye Internal combustion engines

  • Nice but VERY impracticle. You would have to win the Lottery to pay for the thing.

  • Did he really say electricity is all around us, even in cinegogs?

  • niiiiiccccceeee

  • Vaporware.

  • @Nichen you have no idea what you are talking about.... I'm in the industry and we are developing products for this car.

  • @edwardgray70 as long as I see these babies available for purchase...then I do believe you. I hope to see them available for purchase, don't get me wrong.

  • those lights should be on da new r8

  • Sit on my anus and rotate :D

  • Joe Biden claimed that the $862 Billion failed stimulus ($400 remains unspent) “created or saved” 750,000 jobs. Economists don’t recognize jobs saved, and the jobs saved may have been keep local agencies afloat. When the money ran out, the people lost their jobs. Currently States are considering filing bankruptcy for spending. watch?v=IqmeT5ykKf0

The Govt owns 61% of GM, GOOGLE, “GM's electric-car fantasy running out of gas” and read links. The Green Movement should be free market driven

  • @FreedomInAmerica All free market ideas went bankrupt with the banks and drowned with the BP spill. What America needs is higher taxes and more government. Top 5% should be paying a 95% tax rate like back in the 50's when America was actually #1. What we need is Socialism plain and simple because the capitalist are worse then the communist! This Audi was built in a country where they have mandatory 3 month vacation and Union Labor that makes $80/hr. They have it right and we have it wrong.

  • It's nice to know that, when this actually does come out, I'll probably be rich and famous enough to buy one. =)

  • LOl ill stick with the hopes of Aptera

  • good shape but ugly ass front end

  • this is the car from the movie I,ROBOT...

  • What were they on when they made the design

  • What were they on when they made the design

  • Did I miss the part when he said how far it can go before needing a recharge?

I'm guessing ,if they left that (very important tidbit of information out ,that it must be around 40 miles to the recharge or so? It's Funny how the Chevy Volt is less effecient and has to be charged sooner & goes a shorter distance( around 40 miles on battery power) than the GM EV1 cars that were made in the mid 1990's(over 100 miles). Even though there have been major battery breakthroughs since then....

  • I WANT........BUT SOMETHING LIKE TESLA....

  • Germans designers are better than Italian

  • This number torque number is at the engine and not at the wheels. If you look online, you will see number from 270's to 510. 510 would be mammoth and make a very fast car.

  • @joelsapp On this car torque at the wheels and engine is the same as they are direct drive. Your point is valid though, say a standard car has 500ft-lb of torque, a 3:1 first gear and 3:1 diff ratio (to keep it easy) then the wheel torque will be 4500ft-lb, in first gear, with the engine at peak torque. (Ignoring friction losses, etc.)

  • @Firepath Even though there are are motors at each wheel, there are reduction gears at each wheel as well. This is why the numbers are different.

"The combined torque output of the four motors, before being multiplied by the reduction gears at each wheel, is 501.5 lb.-ft." ... from Edmunds: tinyurl 6dggpt7

  • I want a quickcharcher like that for my laptop

  • lol @ the "mirrors" on the side :D they could just put their cameras on back, where nobody can see them xD

  • @Dam1XxX Except that mirrors also help you see cars that are next to you, but behind your B pillar.

  • @Firepath yes ur right.. but they are ugly as hell :S

  • 3319 lb-ft of TORQUE!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!!!

  • Behold!, your grandson's car

  • @KingWilli12495 my grandson gets it a 100 years early?

  • Why don't they make electric cars so they can charge using induction and then they would just park next to the charger? Or over a charger.

  • @bernieborn like a huge power matt, cool, thats a pretty good idea, i just hope they can figure out this energy crises soon, and get rid of most of the corruption in the our gov. i know they cant get rid of all of the bullshit, but i wish they would

  • isn't canada the top oiler supplier to the u.s now?

anyway, combustion engine is going to live on for a very long time, unless a govenment enacts a law on it.

  • looks beautiful
