And you hate him so much because... why? All you comment is how he will suck in the pro's and then you try to impress us with your hitting knowledge. Like @8USMNT17 said, he hit .360 in Arizona against pitchers who, for the most part, already have minor league (some even MLB) experience. I'm not saying he's the next Babe Ruth, but I think he'll be fine.
I wish guys like A-Rod, Jeter and Griffey were prospects during the Youtube age. It would be funny to rad all the comments of people calling them overrated.
@foilseal i could careless what other people think of me, especially you. I am just putting truth onto this board because im sick of people sucking this kid off. he will get drafted 1 or 2 things will happen: 1) he will become a pitcher, the kid has a hose for an arm or 2) he wont pan out as a position player. obviously you havent seen this kid play against high talent, like AFLAC game. he sucked. just give it time douche bag, i will be right.
@SEnsiStar32 He has school records for BA, HR, HITS in a year at the best junior college in america i think im going to go with the professional scouts on this one rather then your great prediction and your just jelious
@SEnsiStar32 if he's so overrated, why is major league baseball all over his ass right now? and just because he's got an arm doesn't mean they're just gonna stick him on the mound, you gotta be kidding. but you are right about one thing, i don't think he's boss at any certain position - he may have been an outstanding C or 3B in HS and a good utility player this year, it might take him a year or 2 in minor league to figure it out, but if he can hit they'll find a spot for him for sure.
@SEnsiStar32 He's probably gonna be moved to the outfield because he's also insanely fast and his knees can't take the pressure of catching? That's just what I heard though.
@SplapMeDoooo I was saying since hes pretty fast and I think runs like a 6 something 60 hes going to play outfield because I guess catching can take a toll on your knees?
steady focus .... i want him to make ittttt play for a good team n get paid for all the hard work ... fuck all the internet wanabes ... his swing will b fine ...... hes gona be great if he stays healthy n learns as he goes .... the sky is the limit ..... btw no one knows how much work hes putting in everyday ... keep talkin he aint listening ..... n fuck u dont reply to me idont care wat anybody has to say ....
i will give you credit where credit is due however, good job on recognizing what i was talking about, you already know more about hitting than 98% of all these other fucks.
just wait till this kid gets drafted he will suck until he can turn that swing from collision to a tight kinetic link from feet to hands.(example- hayward on the braves, all talent, but still a collision guy; so when he hits it it goooooes but when he doesnt he strikes out. you get power from the weight shift and maintaining the backside. debate all day you cant argue fact.
@SEnsiStar32 you seem jealous that bryce harper has talent and success and you spend your free time trolling the internet trying to show off basic knowledge as if you will eventually impress someone.
@686blm686- no i did not read the info. I use it. The 5 simple steps are what my school uses. my hitting coached worked with rudy for 3 years in the cages at arlington and spring training to learn it well enough to teach it. So no, nice try in calling me out, i know the 5 steps and have the spring training packet right on my desk. you have any more questions faggot?
Juco to D1 is huge? That's ignorant! Draftable players go Juco because you have to play 2 years of D1 to enter the draft...you can play 1 year of Juco and enter the draft. I think that College of Southern Nevada would beat UNLV 8 to 9 times out of 10....and don't say its because UNLV is horrible. UNLV's had....Matt Williams, Cecil Field, Todd Stottlemyre, Eric and Ryan Ludwick, Bryan Boehringer, Ryan Braun, etc..
CSN's Bryce and Bryan Harper alone are better than 99% playing D1though
hes a collision hitter. the cubs should draft his ass and get him to work with Rudy Jaramillo, that guys hitting system is the real deal. 5 simple steps.
this kid has talent above any other 17 year old AMERICAN. But did anybody see his performance against the nations other top 17 year olds? with wood? he sucked dick. Hes got a hose for an arm. kid should pitch. his swing needs to be put into a pro system
yes, west coast baseball, southern baseball are legit. i played D1 in San Diego(west coast). I agree that some D1s are jokes. but i am talking about legit teams not mid major shit or any teams from the midwest except nebraska, texas, oklahoma, and missouri. East coast blows. Indiana blows. and D1 is not equal to A ball. Theres a reason why college guys go to college before A ball. and theres 15 year old dominicans who put him to shame.
@mvpblue5 you have a solid point there. however the next step from JC to D1 is HUUUGE. AND THE STEP FROM D1 TO pro ball is even more HUGE. In the pros your facing everybodys ace every day. not to mentio 30 year old dominicans who say there 20
what do you mean step from JUCO to D1 being huge?
there are JUCO teams that can beat D1 teams. D1 just means bigger school, so for the most part the best D1 teams will be better than the best JUCO teams. but its not really that far away, they just got more players to choose from since the school size is so large
its funny how many people on here havent played baseball at a high level, not even D-1. I have and i can say this kid is raw, he hasnt seen the pitching he will eventually, has a lot of holes, he likes to drift towards the ball making him loose his recognition against better pitching. but he is raw ill give him that.
Say what you want this kid is going to be a stud if he doesn't fall into the same traps as Josh Hamilton, if he stays clean he'll be in the Bigs by the time he's 19
The kid is phenomenal........I just cant wait till he gets his 10 million dollars and then gets struck out 3 times by a 47th round pick. First rounder or 50th rounder it starts to even out when u get into pro ball.
If you watch Harper's swings, he primarily follows the 'Modern Weight Shift' system of hitting. He uses the curl/toe tap to shift his weight back, then shifts his weight forward in his swing.
This hitting style was primarily endorsed by Charlie Lau, and is a contact oriented approach towards hitting, because of the amount of time you keep the bat in the hitting zone.
Harper does have a slight hitch in his swing, but so did Barry Bonds.
doesnt matter how old he is i know how old is he though...if he is so good as everyone thought hed be doing better...he has talent for sure...but he should have stayed in hs
his swing is NOT perfect. He has some things to work on. BUT he is good. he has plus raw power and can get away with things like having a notch in his swing. Minor league pitchers look for faults in a persons swing, and i know i would pitch this kid hard in, real hard in. But in a few years his swing will get better and he will probably be more legit then he already is.
Everyone who thinks this swing is bad or incorrect doesn't know anything about hitting. This is what a professional swing looks like. Utley, pujols, Chipper, evertime they connect at contact the back toe is off of the ground. This swing is perfect
HIs back foot is completely off the ground when he makes contact. ... Yes they are using woodys...Its a JUCO, most JUCOs use wood on the western side of the country
his bat speed is absolutly INCREDIBLE!
