thank you jessica for this song. i am a victum my ex husband was abusive. he did it all and still tries to control me cuz we have 2 kids. and i am still afraid of him. but if i would have stayed or went back, i would not be here right now. i really hope and pray for everyone who has or is being abused they keep their head up cuz they can make it on their own with out the abuser AND THEY DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER.

Shame no one ever recognises male vicitms of abuse.
You never hear songs about the countless male victims out there. No one talks about them and no one helps them.
Simpson seems very sexist, only talking to females about the issue, thus pretending male vicitms do not matter and perhaps do not even exist.
People who falsely regard domestic violence as a gender issue and spread such myths are part of the problem, not part of any solution

I agree there is a lack of light shed on male domestic abuse victims,But at the same time at least she is trying to bring more awareness to domestic abuse whether it is female or male. the song its about a female being abused i can understand why she would speak strictly on the females perspective, seeing as how thats what it is about. Like i said though there are quite a few male victims that suffer from domestic abuse, either way you look at it abuse is abuse no matter what sex or race.

I agree with you, but we also need to be realistic: Over 95% of domestic abuse victims are women. And women are an ever greater percentage of seriously injured or killed abuse victims.

Here in the uk there is mostly little difference between the sexes in dv cases.
For example the Uk crime survey showed 50% more female victims than male.
However, females were also twice as likely to experience minor violence, whereas there was almost no difference in cases of severe violence. I.e. 99% of the additional female victims did not suffer significant abuse.
I really can't stand people who try to pretend this is a gender issue when it is so obviously not the case

The UK, then, is different from the entire rest of the world. Definitely in developing and underdeveloped countries, women are abused far, FAR more than men are. Analysis of statistics is not necessary to figure that out. The same is true here in the US. Domestic abuse IS largely a gender issue, mostly because women are physically weaker than their men, and because women are politically, economically and socially vulnerable. True, abuse of men occurs, but rarely, and hardly ever significantly.
