There's no question Messi is the best player right now, he's been the best for nearly two years. His failure at the world cup can be attributed to Maradona's tactics. I think Zidane is better for 2 reasons: 1) he's more of an original, and 2) I think he, better than anybody else, maximised his natural ability. Maradona was great but he was also blessed with unbelievable athletic gifts - his pace and energy for one, whereas Zidane had to work around his modest athletic ability

There's no question Messi is the best player right now, he's been the best for nearly two years. His failure at the world cup can be attributed to Maradona's tactics. We all know messi is best when he has a quality midfield to give him good supply like he has at barca. Thats why I named müller who scored even more gaols. But you came up with statistics and even if you compare pele to maradona you cant proove pele was better than him. I dont know how.
