Unfortunately the screen refresh looks very slow. cant see a full service or busy operation putting up with that for long. Seems to be using VNC app or similar...?
is this software available for latinamerica(colombia)....where do i get it?...is it available at a macstore???....a run a restaurant in colombia and i want it....please could you answer me ,thanks...!!!!!!
EXACTLY what I was thinking. So many people bitched about "ohhh, what am I going to do with an oversized iPod", well maybe it's not for general use applications, maybe it's PERFECT for my Point Of Sale over my wifi network. I could see this being used for more than just placing orders, retailers, warehouses, anybody that uses an inventory system could benefit from this thing by using it to automaticaly track changes made to your sale inventory or whatever else that comes to mind.
@TheEagler82 battery stands without problem 6 hours without recharging in continuous use, As it can be use in network you can also pick up another iPad or a classic Touchscreen.
In this application , the waiter can make a selection of wines or dishes following the desires of the guest and present him a detailed list with photo, price and description.
but the real revolution will be when each table has it's own iPad and guests order from an interactive menu with photos and video of the dishes, sending their order directly to the kitchen.
Must be a VNC setup.
I'm guessing there is one server running the backoffice system, and on this backoffice server, vmWare is running the POS terminal ordering screens.
The number of VM's or POS terminals depends on the needs of the restaurant.
Am I correct?

Why would yo choose such a bulky, fragile product to lug around the restaurant? It should be on the iPOD, not iPAD!

Would it be more cost effective to use something other than an IPad - some other tablet PC or hand-held?

Does iPad transfer data trought WiFI?
shurkinmal 1 year ago
@shurkinmal Yes, we connect iPad and the whole system via WiFi. So the orders are going directly to common database.
