@igoribeiro9 Hahahaha. I agree, I mean, I'm not a brazilian myself, but this actually look's like Rio de Janeiro, but a Rio de Janeiro from 1930's. The carnival and samba today look much more different.
@Math617261273 This is not samba in any decade! And, just, more a misinterpretation of what the brazilian music. Unfortunately, still feel that samba and this thing tacky that has much more to do with mambo and cha cha cha
@igoribeiro9 Unfortunately, that is what the foreigner and the brazilian media itself used to promote of their country (from movies of Carmem Miranda and characters like Ze Carioca), in SOME TIME of their era they were SLIGHTLY like this, and if they were not, the brazilians didn't make much for change that image of them.
Brazil is a immense country of many different cultures (I love the gaucho culture from the south), it's sad to see that the image of the entire Brazil is represented like that.
@Cavillier1970 I read an interview with Stephanie Bock that he broke his foot and did 6 weeks of the show with it broken! Can you imagine what that must have been like?
@Cavillier1970 When he did Inside the Actor's Studio he commented that people would ask him what kind of drugs he was on to do the show with such energy... then they met his mother, and said "ah, it's in the genes" LOL... Re the DVD I got a "copy" from a guy on ebay but it's audience member recording, though decent - also they have the media reel available with the music numbers done I think professionally for reviews etc.
@evilchime Thats a damn shame, I mean I can imaigne how bad the quality must be. But I guess its better thannothing. I just wish theyd release it like they did when the Hoff did Jekyll & Hyde. I mean it was professionally done andpackaged.
@Cavillier1970 Yeah, well I would have loved them to have done one like Trevor Nunn did Oklahoma . . . but alas. I was hoping that perhaps they would have recorded the Australian arena version he did a couple of years later, but I have only seen some audience clips of it on Youtube :(.
There was actually a petition going around that was given to the producers in hopes that a dvd would be released. It ididn't work. There are bootlegs out there.
@Cavillier1970 I don't think it will ever happen. Maybe they'll bring the show back in the future, one can only hope! I saw it six times. I've seen the bootlegs, they are okay, but definitely not like seeing the show. I think some of the snips of the show on YouTube are pretty good. When I feel like "seeing the show", I scroll through them.
@Caramia112 Then i would like to know where and how i can get one of those. Producers are mad not to bring this out on dvd. I think it would do very well
Have you seen 'Australia', the movie with Hugh and Nicole Kidman? Hugh was a very 'macho' cattle rancher. In Australia his nick-name is "sex on a stick" because of his height and he was so skinny. lol He and wife Deborra-Lee Furness, tried for babies but she had multiple miscarrages, so they adopted. He is so talented, so hot!!
@musicsavage it's called Acting. he's playing a role. He's not gay at all actually. In fact he's happily married to a gorgeous woman name Deborah-Lee and they have two children together.
@debbielewis29 lool i know right, i completely forgot he did boy from oz and then i found this and was like :O wolverine also sings and dances....in flaired white pants...
well you are listening to an illegally copied segment of the Broadway production....I'm amazed that it sounds as good as it does! I saw this show 5 times - I can assure it was one of the best shows I have ever seen on Broadway!
This isn't illegal - it was part of the media reel that was created by the show's management for broadcast on news & entertainment outlets (otherwise it would have been yanked long ago). I also saw the show a number of times, and Hugh Jackman gave the most explosive and electrifying performance I've ever seen on Broadway - and I've been seeing Broadway musicals for over 30 years.
@pec2pec Great!! I had no idea but must thank you so very much for posting all that you have - I loved this show so much and am delighted to see it on youTube...thank you!
My friend and I once followed Peter Allen to his show in Puerto Rico and after it followed him to a gay bar where we danced and had a great time - my love of him goes back to the 80's and this show brought back so much of the feelings of that time...thanks again!
Thanks, but it was actually "egazeba" (see right) who did the posting. I should also add that I'm equally grateful to "egazeba" because these clips are all that's left of a remarkable theatrical experience. Considering the multitude of Hugh Jackman fans out there, I'm baffled why it was never professionally recorded - as, say, PASSING STRANGE was.
@pec2pec Ah...right! I too am surprised there has not been a recorded version of the show available for sale - I'd buy it in a moment! Missed opportunity if you ask me.....
@missionchic1230 All the shows on Broadway ARE recorded, and can be viewed (but not loaned form) in the Library of New York archives! - They have a recording of all the Broadway shows since film began!! ^_^ It would be easy for them to sort out the copyright etc and produce that recording on DVD... I wish they would! :(
@pec2pec Actually, altho there is not a "professional' recording i.e. a film version) all the shows on Broadway ARE recorded, and can be viewed in (but not loaned form) the Library of New York archives! - They have a recording of all the Broadway shows since film began!! ^_^ It would be easy for them to sort out the copyright etc and produce that recording on DVD... I wish they would! :(
@jo123phoebe: I live in NYC, so I'm aware of the Lincoln Center Public Library archives. Unfortunately, not ALL Broadway shows have filmed for the archives. The practice only began in the early 70s, and one of the heartbreaking omissions is the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES, which I think is the most extraordinary (and visually spectacular) musical I've ever seen.
@pec2pec Oh that's a shame!! They should have The Boy From Oz tho shouldn't they? :-S I seriously hope so! I am planning to take a trip to NYC sometime in the future just to go to the archives and watch my heart out!! ^_^ xx
@jo123phoebe: Although I haven't seen it myself, I'm sure THE BOY FROM OZ was filmed for the archives; the quality of Jackman's performance (which took the town by storm) made its inclusion a certainty. Normally, it's the flops that run for a week or less, or shows from the 70s that (for whatever reason) missed out on being filmed, that aren't part of the archives.
He tries to imitate Peter Allen's voice who, let's face it was not what you call 'what a voice'. Want to listen to the real Hugh Jackman? Search 'Oh What A Beautiful Mornin' or 'The Surrey With The Fringe On The Top' from Oklahoma, 'Soliloquy' from Carousel, 'Me' from Beauty & The Beast or 'Somewhere' from West Side Story. You'll find all of them on youtube. Then come and tell me Jackman is a 'terrible singer'. Someone must be deaf to think so after he listens Jackman singing the above songs.
there is a fear out there though. some people are extremely fearful of a gay movement in america. people think we are trying to recruit their children and dumb stuff like that. another good term is hate. there are a lot of people who hate gays, while many of them admittedly don't know a gay person.
it shouldnt even be about people not liking the behavior, because being gay is not about the action of sex with someone of the same gender. coming out and being gay is 100% about love.
Its funny IIcooljay how many years it was in Australia Peter felt sad and married just to belong. We in Australia could not of cared. We just loved him. We have been having the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras since 1978. I just wish Peter could have lead it. He was brilliant but to be accepted he felt he had to conform. I am glad today we can accept people for themselves.
Oh, I totally drool over him as Wolvie, but I'll take him as Peter Allen, too. He's ever so secure in himself to do it, and it makes me admire him more. (Plus those hips! Wow!)
I sense, from your rant, you are very young, and feel the need to rebel against the world.(LOL)I'm afraid, as you get older, being "special" all the time gets exhausting, and you will start to realize you are not that different from your straight brothers and sisters, after all.BTW- I too was a big fan of Mr, Allen, but if you don't think there was a great deal of "performing an accepted gay role" involved in his "shtick", I'm afraid, once again, age will help you better understand.
These are not "painful stereotypes that have been used to diminish us" Peter Allen was an incredibly talented and gifted performer BUT WAS NOT naturally a very butch guy - where do you get the idea that he was affected? He was himself& it takes a lot more resilience and strength to be gay & more obvious about then to be artificially macho & 'straight acting'.
Jacksmans homage is respectful and reasonably honest.
I understand the nice gesture and I really appreciate it as a brazilian. I just have to say that the song mentions salsa(we do not dance salsa) and La Bamba...this is a big lack of information. Kind of saying vegemite is from Ireland
Well yes, as far as it goes.I'm certainly glad it was there for me when I moved to NYC at 17 in 1976. it was relevant to me then.I'm much more ambivalent about this much frivolity now. I wonder if all this camp, wasn't just another way gay men were conditioned to be harmless and non-threatening in the straight social order.I'm glad I've matured, and now know that I can appreciate this, but don't have to live in it
Hey, why all the "thumbs down"?(LOL) I've lived long enough as a gay man to realize these effeminate extremes in behavior are affectations of a time gone by, when men had to look at images of women, to identify with their attraction to other men.I'm all about having fun, but let's not forget these are the painful stereotypes that have been used to diminish us for centuries....plus, I don't look good in a sparkly, see- through shirt anymore!(LOL)
Daniiel Craig doesn't hold a candle to Hugh Jackman. Craig is neither sexy nor particularly talented. Who got the idea to make the suave, sophisticated personna of James Bond match the rather unattractive (to women) actor who inherited the role from a long line of really sexy men?
Daniel Craig is one of the better looking Bonds. Second only to Sean Connery. I think in every movie he's been in he's had a certain level of class that not many actors have. Hugh has that same class. Daniel has done a good job. But Hugh was amazing in this. Great singer, actor, dancer, and incredibly hot.
Fabulous, takes me back to that night in the Imperial Theater
when I saw this amazing man perform. He was wonderful, energetic, charismatic, and never missed a show, not even when he had stress fractures in his foot.
I am anxious for him to return to Broadway, I hope he will.
I just like to hear him sing, wish he'd record an album. He is gorgeous, too. Those hazel eyes melt me!
Hi egazba, Where did you get these videos? They are wonderful, and I truly enjoy seeing them--almost like seeing the show--which I didn't. I am a fan of Mr Jackman's and thinkthat he is so very talented. I especially like his musical performances. Thanks for posting.
and this was the FINALE! Our boy Hugh had been on stage all night dancing and singing ... his energy never droppe for a minute. GOD HE WAS AMAZING. I admit going 11 times ... and would have gone more if I could have! Mr. Jackman is a bone fide star and his charisma and sheer joy captivated everyone in every seat in the theatre! He was flawless, flawless, flawless. YUMMY!
GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE.....! Living in Italy I could never see this, but I "experienced it" through friends who were lucky enough to see this in NY or Australia and... I fell in love with it! Thanks for uploading!
Thank you egazeba for these great videos!!!! The ones from Act Two are so moving and emotional..I tell everyone to keep the tissues handy! The ovation after Once Before I Go was well deserved! Jarrod Emick is charming as Greg too. I wish they had recorded the whole show before it was over so all of us could see it! Thanks to you we can at least come close to being there!
Shows ARE recorded in their entirety for posterity's sake and kept at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Anyone with a New York Public Library Card can see any show, but has the right to see each show only once (I think). I think they have shows dating back to the 1950s as I've been told they have the original "Gypsy" with Ethel Merman, for example.
I never thought I'd get to see more than a few little clips of the show until you posted these vids. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Hugh is truly amazing in all he does but he really shined playing Peter Allen. That Tony award was very well deserved! Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! :-D
i wonder why "openly gay men in the Media" is a related video...

К Хью претензий нет - он шикарен и бесподобен, как всегда! Обожаю!

IOC: GIVE THE GAMES TO RIO! Imagine the pageantry and deliciousness of the opening and closing ceremonies.
Chicago? Give me a freaking break! Politics, racial separatism, unchecked violence, corruption, horrible weather.
RIO! RIO! RIO! RIO!

I've been openly gay since 1975 and have seen it all, but, trust me, It does NOT-GET-ANY-GAYER- THAN THIS!!!!!

And it's beautiful!!!

Well yes, as far as it goes.I'm certainly glad it was there for me when I moved to NYC at 17 in 1976. it was relevant to me then.I'm much more ambivalent about this much frivolity now. I wonder if all this camp, wasn't just another way gay men were conditioned to be harmless and non-threatening in the straight social order.I'm glad I've matured, and now know that I can appreciate this, but don't have to live in it
tet43 2 years ago

Only in Hollywood....
cqsallie 2 years ago
Daniel Craig is one of the better looking Bonds. Second only to Sean Connery. I think in every movie he's been in he's had a certain level of class that not many actors have. Hugh has that same class. Daniel has done a good job. But Hugh was amazing in this. Great singer, actor, dancer, and incredibly hot.

I personally find Daniel Craig irrisistible. But really, he is an incredibly talented actor.

Hugh Jackman plays a better homosexual than all of the "confirmed bachelors" watching this video.

I think they have shows dating back to the 1950s as I've been told they have the original "Gypsy" with Ethel Merman, for example.

to sammyfishcher -- WOW I didn't know you can see the recorded shows. How wonderful!!
