  • I watched all your videos over a year ago wishing i could do some of the items you have. Now that i've been crocheting i found this afghan again and I'm about to start it using 5 colors. I love watching your videos. You explain everything very well. Thank You!

  • Hi there! I have a ton of scraps and i did not know what to do with them but now I do!! I have two questions to ask... in the 1st video you say to only go into the back loop only but in all of the other rows you go into both. do you only go into BLO in the first row? and my last question is what size hook did you use. It dose not say in the videos . THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

  • @imbakensewjoey In the original pattern I designed, You go into the BLO. In the video I go through the top of the stitch, not the normal place you make a stitch but in the knot in the top half of the stitch. I do believe I explain it in the video. I changed it because the BLO still manages to cause the stitches to pull it into a pralellogram shape.

  • @Bethintx1 Thank you! I started to make a pink and purple one... i love how easy it is and the look of it! Thank you for the reply!

  • @imbakensewjoey PS I think it's an I or a J hook. Use a hook that best suits your yarn.

  • I'm thinking about trying to make this since it appears to be pretty straightforward. One question, though. Do you use a regular hook or an afghan hook for this?

  • @stjoescribe This is regular crochet. No need for an afghan hook.

  • MUITO BOM

  • With this pattern could you use only like three or four different colors? Would it still look right? I love the idea of this pattern. I just got done making a making a baby blanket using the Red Heart Camo and and two other colors and was wondering If i could use this pattern to make a blanket with the same colors.

  • @liz200520 You can use as many colors as you like. I've seen it solid, two , three colors, and scrappy with 15 different colors and yarns.

  • thanks Beth after viewing vid 3 again the light went on the fact that length is your choice then you stop and just step to each other to finish..trying to find hook that goes though those pesky V's better than my bates as when I use scraps of simply soft then add reg yarn they tighten up for that row..I might have to use the dreaded boyle lol or my clover seems to work the pointed ends seems to help, adding a row here and there mixed with glitter thread is amazing on this too ty B

  • how do you calculate the ending length? I have my width where I want it but as I start the incline up after creating the width, seems in my mind will be short lap size even though my width is good size, will this be a square of your width? and seems you can't expand the length in scrap ladder effect after you finish if you need to so I am confused lol ...btw fun ghan thinking who, what , where the orginal yarn and project went..great videos and greater teacher ty

  • @pheadrasfall I'm not sure what you are asking... You keep adding the new yarn at the bottom to make it longer. Once you have it the size you want, you add the new yarn at the top of the step instead of the bottom. continue until it's the width you want. Then you stop the step before the last group of stitches... Watch the whole series & you will see...

  • CAN ANYONE TELL ME... WHAT IS AN AFGHAN... I MEAN WHAT IS IT USE FOR??

  • @sana959 An afghan is another word for blanket. It can be used as a lap blanket, a furniture throw, baby blanket, anything you can use a blanket for. You can Google it. BTW, typing in all capital letters is like shouting. please don't yell at me. ;)

  • @Bethintx1 thankssssssssssss a lots dear dun worry i will not yell on u :)

  • @sana959 You are welcome!

  • I think I'll try this...once I finish all my other projects!

  • I plan to do this, but what size hook are you using? I have some scraps, but most are still fill balls/skeins so will just alternate. Do you recommed the yarns be simar material or can they be mixed? I have a lot of cotton(sugar n cream) and acrylic yarns. Thanks for sharing this. Looks very easy.

  • @tvas917 I would use a hook that would go with the yarn. If you use #3 yarn, then use a G hook, If you use a medium #4 yarn, use an I or J hook. If you use bulky yarn, use a K or larger. Yes you can mix fibers, but be sure they all wash the same. I would not mix cotton with acrylic. Because the cotton may shrink and the acrylic may stretch. Check the yarn labels for washing instructions & compare...if you have them. I loved mixing the fuzzy acrylic & textured acrylic yarns with the smooth.

  • i do have alot of scrap yarn been doing some granny squares this will work also thks Beth

  • @ilovstodance Thanks! I made this up to use even smaller scraps than can be used for a granny.

  • This is a fun afghan, but my steps are all leaning to the left. I can't figure out why. I have followed the directions so I don't know whats wrong

  • @jtthegreat Make your stitches into the V at the top of the stitch. Double crochet stitches have the top of the stitch off center.

  • @Bethintx1 I have been crocheting into the V at the top and its leaning to the left. I noticed you said that if you do it into the stitches it leans to the right? I am so confused LOL!

  • @jtthegreat True! How far did you get? The left lean may be an optical illusion. Try making a swatch with maybe 5 steps, then start doing the shorter rows and make a square. The short rows may pull it up. If it still leans, try it in the back loop only.

  • thanks for taking the time to show this pattern ! i am going to make for myself !!

  • this is sooo neat looking. i think its too hard for me to try just yet though lol

  • I started one of these...super easy. It's a great idea for all the leftovers. Thanks :)

  • Ok thank you :) i learned a lot. made a hat. thanx for the vids

  • Beautiful pattern! I especially like the

effect of placing the hook in the "v" of the

    stitch.

  • Thanks! I've tried it by forming the stitches in the normal manner. I ended up with a giant parallelogram! /=/

  • what needle are you using? I notice that hook looks easier to use. When i try using the one u used in your 'how to crochet lesson 1" my needle sometimes hooks into and unravel the yarn :(

  • There are two basic hook styles. When working in rows I prefer the Susan Bates(barrel shape with a slot as a hook). When working a granny and using stitches that get worked into ch spaces, I like the Boye style hook . the Boye has a narrowing shaft and a knobby shaped hook.

The one in this video is a Susan Bates.

  • I'm glad you are learning! Remember the way these stitches are positioned is not the usual way. You usually form the stitch under the top 2 loops of the stitch.

  • You make crocheting so easy! By watching these videos I am learning how to crochet! Thank-you!
