  • Is it really necessary to go TSSSCHHHH when holding fucking 5lb dumbbells......... + this is shit because the gravity is on the top of the shoulder...

  • Well, like Scott mentioned, it's supposed to imitate the motion of the machine, so I think what you're supposed to do is work out like you're on the machine... in other words, when you pull back, squeeze the rear delts. It's not as effective because the resistance is vertical instead of horizontal, but it does help. Or easily... just bend forward lol

  • there's a whole lot of shushing going on just breathe scott

  • lmao it LOOK LIEK DA SAME MOVEMANT IT MUST BE DA SAEM WOKROUT -_-

  • are you kidding me? try leaning over or laying on a bench for actual results. n

  • Snap City.

  • If I saw someone do this at a gym I would laugh

  • Well, its mostly for the chest

  • What a retard that is not an effective workout for the rear delts, at least while standing up! What a joke

  • Fuck yeah bro. Siiiick rear delt raises aaaayyyyyyyyyy. ScotthermanShitness...

  • Stop that noice while breathing out dude

  • what a douchebag

  • The dumbbells are irrelevant; his front and medial delts are supporting his arms to hold the weight up - he would be working his rear-delts the exact same if he were to drop the weight. LOL

    Nice front-delt isometric exercise, Scotty.

  • retarded showoff

  • If you're looking to simulate the rear deltoid machine you like to use, do Rear Delt Rows.

  • Scott is a cool guy for the most part, just don't get how he invents these type of exercises. And does he really have to make that chhhhh noise so loud? It's kinda annoying. Im not trying to be mean scott. But that chhh noise has to stop, im trying to help u out.

  • This is a little bit embarrassing. How can scott not take this video off? He clearly just invented his own exercise that does not hit the rear delts. It's like trying to do a lat pulldown by using dumbells performing a shoulder press type motion.

  • More traps and front delts.

  • it would work if you were on a incline bench but not how your doing it.

  • Great

  • gravity, how does it work?

  • Clearly he can defy gravity...

  • working your back and rear delts there. There will be muscle growth of rear delts, but not as much if you did the exercise properly to really isolte the delts

  • I feel sorry for those who have said Scott isn't working rear deltoids because according with the book called Daniels and Worthingham's Muscle Testing he is so working out his rear deltoids. Just one small thing, if he bent over it´s gonna be harder and more challenging. Thanks Scott keep uploading your stuff.

  • this would only work if you were bent over

  • and what in the is he doing!?!?

  • Deff not working your rear delts!!!

  • Comment removed

  • if that is for rear delts, than i'm the pope. i don't know how you got to look like this, but sure is hell isn't from smart training.

  • Scott, I've followed, listened, and look up to you, but I really don't think this works your rear delts too much. Honestly, I thought you were joking about the whole exercise. Simple physics :/

  • By this logic, this exercise also works the chest, as it is just as much a regular (chest) fly as it is a rear delt exercise. Makes complete sense.

I guess physics wasn't your strongest subject.

  • Hes only doing that sound to show you when hes breathing out...are you all retarded?

  • Is this guy trolling or is he just retarded?

  • tsss.....tssss....tssss...wtf is that sound xD?

  • Sorry that's front delts buddy.

  • Fuck this shit... I need a big mac meal.

  • breath MOOOREEEE

  • tttcchhhhhhh!!!

  • Wow, this is so retarded :/

  • when you breathe you sound like a stopping trunk!! XD just kiddin

  • is this a jike or what?

  • lol whats that sound !!!! lol chhhhhiii chiiiiiiiiiiii

  • yea this is not helping the rear deltoids one bit

  • are the shssssssssssssssssh really necessary?

  • if someone do that "Sheeeeech" thing in gym , i would defiantly punch his teeth out !!!

  • @Fawadkhan04 watch out guys...we got a badass over here.

  • simple physics says your not working out your rear delts

  • @1PDee

    So obvious!

  • I love how this dude has such small delts he's gotta put a comment bubble pointing to where they are at on him.

  • can this be done with the cable machine?

  • a dumbbell can only exert force one direction and that is straight DOWN. you're doing nothing but flexing your muscle.

  • How bout we call it "what the fuck am i doing except looking lame" -exercise..

  • The camera even shows labeled contracting rear deltoids . . .

  • Comment removed

  • Scott's right, before you think you know what you're talking about, go check your facts. All it takes is BASIC physics people, it takes energy to move the weights (which have inertia..duh) quickly through the air toward the rear. How do you think this is possible? THE REAR DELTOIDS! It may not be as great of an exercise as the machine, but it DOES work the rear deltoids. So y'all need to stop, cause YOU'RE THE IDIOTS! Keep it up Scott

  • Congratulations, you're an idiot, Scott =) /Sheo, physiotherapeut.

  • @Rinneby Why? =0

  • @AlexLococo There is an axial load from the dumbbells but Scott is doing a horizontal movement with his arms. He is doing a front/medial-delt isometric exercise, not a dynamic one for rear delts. Using his logic, this would be an "imitation" of a pec fly as well, in the same exercise. No, Scott, this is idiotic, all in all.

  • @Rinneby In other words, the excercise shoud be done with the pecs facing the floor? lol

  • @AlexLococo Yes, naturally. It's a common gym exercise called "bent over dumbbell laterals". Do a search =)

  • @Rinneby Well, I don't think it is THAT useless, you do use your back muscles, obviously not as much. but that could be the point: I think it could be used as a resting excercise that prevents the muscle from cooling out.

Of course, I could be wrong, I'm not a physiotherapist.

  • Chshhht....chshhhht...Wtf kinda shit is that.

  • FUCKING IDIOT

  • ha wtf

  • The machine you're imitating works the rear delts by using pulleys to have that backwards pulling motion pulling up a weight stack. There's no backwards resistance when you use dumbbells. Lean forward, then gravity will give you similar resistance to what the machine offers.

  • the only thing you're working here is your front and side delt, staticly (or what you call it). there are no contraction and stretching on any muscles here, which is key if you want to build muscles.

  • Military Press is way the of the warrior.

  • rear deltoids? resistance on the front IF

  • Hey while you're at it why don't you do do upside down pull-ups where you pull your body down to the ground. Or maybe a standing dumbbell press while you push the dumbbells in front of you.

  • He got turbo :D Tshhhhhhhhh

  • This clearly won't work the rear delts.. it'll work the shoulders somewhere though.. probably the sides/top

  • i can tell by your skinny shoulders that this exersise is wrong..

  • Scott, please remove this video..

  • No man... the less involved muscle here is the rear delt..

  • You should call these shoulder snaps because you gunna snap ALLL YOUR SHIT UP IN YOUR SHOULDERS

  • That's a anterior and medial deltoid fiber workout. You would need to bend over to work the posterior fibers.

  • the lifting muscle here is the side delt and front delt, the rear delt jus moves the weight backwards without ressistance, bands might work like that...

  • scotty bro, this excercise just doesn't work posterior delts

  • Don't think so.

  • Seriously...?!

    Use a cable..!!

  • 1:00 for "SHHHHHHHT"

  • @ralphM1114 that's technically true, but you're still only overcoming the inertia of the weights. Think of it this way: As soon as Scott here has gone through 20% of his range of motion, the resistance is already gone, and then you're working your chest to slow the weights down (or just wrenching your shoulders). Regardless of speed, this is a bad way to work your rear delts, and actually a pretty decent way to get an injury.

  • If 353,035 people haven't noticed yet, he was doing fairly fast reps, which puts a lot of stress on the rear delts. With fast reps, gravity doesn't matter. The direction of the movement relative to the torso does. This movement is a good exercise for the rear deltoids IF done fast.

  • probably best to stick with the machine on this exercise.

  • u look like a douchebag

  • Yeah went a did this not going to lie was hearing all kinds of stuff snaping an crackling all up in my sholder

  • As with most your videos, Scott, you missed the mark here. Watch your own video, and you can see your traps and lateral deltoids firing; not your posterior delts. You do get a lot of YouTube views though. I give you props for that. Take care.

  • Doesn't work. Simple as that

  • Hahaha is this a joke?

  • Lol you people are fucking stupid, can't you tell he's doing this deliberately as a joke. Besides that this guy is really full of himself.

  • Sorry but you r not working the rear delts!!

  • Try it, find out if it makes your shoulders feel like shit (which I honestly suspect it might) or whether it actually works for you, then leave it at that. I only suggest Scott that you do thorough research for several body types when demonstrating important exercises for posture and shoulder/back health and the like. Weird variations CAN be beneficial, but they CAN ALSO hurt people..

  • Press 3 then 5.

  • You know more than me but I gotta ask is this really doing anything should you not be bent over so your working against gravity?

  • Why does this have so many negative thumbs?

  • @Lrdvltr Bad technique I guess.

  • Acronyms are always good to

  • when u pull the weights back u sound like a coke can been opened

  • NOTHIN BUT A MORON TRYIN HURT HIM SELF..

  • thanks man

  • an easier name would be standing dumbbell flys

  • :o i did this in weight training today.

  • err have you forgotten about gravity lmao??

  • I gotta agree though this exercise in my opinion probably would work side delts more and top of delts rather than rear and u may even feel it in biceps from just tension of holding up something... i rather do this with cables and actually hit the rear delts :-/

  • you got to check out your air leak

  • @richard1948benz LOL the guy has some descent videos too many of you are jackasses hahahaha but that made me laugh.

I also hiss air, although i picked it up alongside my grunting from martial arts days... u know very well that breathing is important and exagerated breathing helps in all exercises/physical work... dont be a jerk/douche :P

  • LOL, what a fucking retard... This does nothing for rear delts.

  • Unless you are bent over how exactly are you placing resistance on your rear delts? You're losing any credibility you may have about any knowledge of exercise. You need to remove this video. I'm embarrassed for you!

  • @SeattleEye Your so stupid dude. When you sit on the rear deltoid machine you are not bent over at all, you stay upright and bring the bars backwards. Disappointed in you!

  • @leo123ish beacause IS A MACHINE ,the same with cables. he is using free weights here.

  • @SeattleEye

You 100% right, there is no way that you can this way work your rear deltoids!

Or this guy does't know what is talking about...

  • worse video advice ever having big rear delts is based on your gene pool if you have crappy genes i suggest anabolic steroids!

  • @toppgunn2232 your an idiot

  • @3v0st its genetics fool yopu can work your shoulders till your blue in the face but you never have boulders like cutler unless you juice!

  • @toppgunn2232 it's about overload and recovery you idiot, if you work out properly and have the right diet you can increase the size of your deltiods like any other muscle, your deltoids dont just not grow for some reason

  • @3v0st yes they do i hardly hit my shoulders and people always complement me on them its called genetics asshole something your shitty father forgot to pass on to you, that is not my fault blame him not me for you looking on the tube for rear delt advice!

  • @toppgunn2232 haha you looked at the video too fuckwit, i got told to look at how stupid this video was by a friend, but you really are a retard, you can build your deltoids without steroids, steriods will obviously build them faster and bigger, and just because you might have good delts from doing nothing doesn't mean that other people can't build them haha

  • i HAD alot of respect for you scott , this video just took it all away

  • There's something called CABLES.

  • scott scott scott!!!

  • WOW MAN... you should do trainer course before you give false exercise to pepole. pepole are gonna think they working on the posterior deltoid but all they doing here is working on isomatry anterior deltoid+middle and upper pecs then you transfer it yo anterior+middle

this exercise is the worst exercise i ever seen.

no offense man. just 335000 ppl watched it and im sure some of does are using this exericse.thats bad

  • Does NOT work really great :) I can't believe you still have this up.. I'd be ashamed of myself if I'd made a video like this..

  • idiota!

  • Try reverse flies, this works better!

  • I would lmao if I saw a guy doing this in a gym. This is totally wrong.

  • What a fucking dumbass. Why is this for rear delts and not for pecs then? Just because it's the same motion as a rear delt machine doesnt mean it's the same thing. A pullup and a shoulder press are also the same motion, but gravity is working in a different way.

Also, stop the breathing out thing. It makes you sound retarded. He thinks it must sound professional or something.

  • probably lost 50% respect for you from this video/'exercise' (N)

  • Haha! Is this a joke?

  • this doesn't work the rear deltoid. if anything it i hitting more of the front deltoid. when you're moving your arms all the way back you're just contracting the real delts which gives you the false impression that you're working them out. it's like flexing your bicep and calling it a curl. better off laying face down on a bench with that same motion.

  • Nowadays, any retard can be considered a health and fitness guru. Fuck this gay Earth.

  • why do i have the feeling that he is a faggot?

  • WHAT MUSCLE DOES THAT WORK?

  • @oraoraora4649 Biceps? Biceps and Triceps?

  • ive never done delt isolation and i can overhead press bodyweight for 5+ reps.

    isolation and bodybuilding = faggotry

    compounds and weightlifting = god

  • @Anarki23x overhead press barely uses rear deltoids. rear delts are used in rowing motions and to stabilise the shoulder joint.

  • Too bad Scott enabled "friend lock". I tried to send him a message to remove this video. Clearly, he's not reading the comments for this video, or he would have removed it long ago. If this exercise were done bent over, or on a flat bench, it would target the rear delts. Done this way, it does nothing of the sort. Scott's worst video so far.

  • this won't work ur rear deltoid.... more of a stretching than a workout. pretty stupid video imo..

  • Comment removed

  • Usually a fan of @ScottHermanFitness exercises, but this one is just wrong

  • not good scott..............

  • terrible exercise, when you try and up the weight there will be way to much pressure on the hands and the arms, you will have to lower the weight back down, but then you can't give the back a proper workout.

  • He has absolutely no mass/definition in his rear delts, how suprising.........

  • I FIND scott herman SOMEHOW RIDICULOUS. Its like walking when you can drive. And youre gonna hurt the newbies. Stop posting irrelevant videos.

  • Hope you're kidding Mr.PSST! You are retarded if you think that works your rear delts.. try bending over almost 90 degrees.. Jesus Christ Holy Mother of Nature..

  • 600 Likes? Stupidity?

  • funny , but it is not for rear deltoid, should be front deltoid

  • BYE BYE shoulder joints

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Don't be hatin'. It's still a good exercise. It looks like it would work deltoids really well.

  • @acooldude0 see for yourself if it works. o_o

  • i think someone forgot how does gravity works O.o

  • @Walkot2 EXACTLY!

  • wtf voice tıssh! ! (O_o)

  • get breath motherfucker

  • its good to do this workout after doing militar press. it really kills the shoulders.

  • It does work on your back

  • This is bullshit. You are working or maybe injuring your back. Not the rear detoids. And stop with the irritating breaths

  • this doesnt look like rear delt exercise... you should be bending over ALOT more.

  • did you put this shit on here to see how many negative comments you could get? the only force your rear delts are overcoming is the initial inertia of the weights. Then at the end of the movement your body needs to stop the weights, and this stopping I imagine could maybe injure you.

  • Bent over, tadaa, now you involve the rear-delts.....

  • Overall your vids are pretty useful, but sadly this one made me lose faith in your expertise

  • O_o WTF !!!

  • LOL what a fucking idiot, "this is obviously one of the more advanced exercises" what a twat. Scooby and jeff cav ftw.

And x0ttttx0 too right thats what this 'exercise' should be called lmao

  • yeah this is stupid. I usually like scott's videos but this one is so wrong.

  • @TheSUBGAMER This is just a novel idea that I have: If you don't like Scott's videos, then don't watch them.

  • @galdergollum That is an incredible idea. I love his videos and they are very helpful

  • this is actually more middle back not trying to hate but the motion of the rear delt is to go back so imagine a dumbell front raise for thefront delt but going backwards . i dont see how the motion of the rear delt involves your arms starting at a raised position . this exercise focuses on rhomboids qute a bit and does some trap work . probably 5 percent of this motion involves the rear delt thaT 5 % is where your arms are inline with your body and u go back that half an inch

  • stupidest shit is making up your own bullshit exercises trying to be unique, make something up that isnt retarded

  • I'm pretty sure this works ten times better with cables

  • i did this at the gym and everyone thought i was a tool when i went "tschhhhh.."

  • Basic physics says that this exercise works the front deltoid more than the rear.

If you really want this exercise to work correctly find a tall bench that allows for arm clearance lay face down on it and then perform the exercise, or just do bent over laterals in a chair. Either approach will put more load on the targeted rear deltoid muscle.

  • FFFF FANTASTIC

  • cool..

  • Only do this if you wanna SNAP SOME SHIT UP in your shoulder

  • i stick with basic man.

  • LOL SO MANY HATERS, U KIDS MAKING THE DUDE POPULAR!
