Okay, i never saw this movie, but my mom talked about it once. Here in the North of England, ice cream trucks usually offer a red syrup over icecream known locally as Monkeys blood. My mom said her and her sisters watched this movie once, and when the kid got shot, my auntie said "But i didn't ask for monkeys blood on it!" in a kids voice.

What is ironic is that a scene like this was almost unimaginable back when this movie was made, but today is very much reality! When I first saw this movie back in the 70's it was the first time I ever saw a kid get killed on screen and I never heard of a kid getting shot in real life either, that was what made the scene horrifying, but today a scene like this would be no big deal for kids.

That scene looks so fake. I thought she was just sprayed with some red paint instead of actually shot. Was kind of a relief actually, like it was supposed to have been some kind of joke played by the gang, that they're actually harmless.
