Ugh, I don't like how the interviewer cuts her off. And what's with mr.guy in the background with his hand over his mouth? Can't tell if he's politely hiding a yawn or cracking up. All that aside, lovely song and commentary.
you have got to be kidding me! I used to do the EXACT same thing in my dorm room at college. Turned off all the lights and just laid in bed with this song on repeat. lol...that is too much =).
Tori's music always washes over me like a warm rippling river of life. I don't know how to explain it. It's an actual tangible thing. It sweeps through my soul.
Ah yes. Thanks so much for this. This whole clip reminds me why Tori is my favorite singer/songwriter/pianist (etc). Her more recent offerings haven't had that *spark* for me, but I really think this is where she excels -- when it's just her and the piano, she can't be beat.
I liked when Steve Caton was still with her. His playing was more subtle and really complemented her style. Everything after he left was sort of erratic and took some of the focus off her piano.
I think it's because she was referring to how the tragedy directly affected David Letterman in that he was in New York for this. I don't think she meant to downplay anything else but just relating how it changed him. It was because of where it happened that hit him the hardest.
Thanks. I see where you guys are coming from. But I hope you see where I am coming from too - the lives lost in DC and in Pennsylvania were just as precious and should never be forgotten.
OK, don't just give me a bunch of thumbs down for this, I've been supporting Tori since before LE came out. I'm looking for answers, opinions... Why does she always say "The Two Towers" when referring to the tragedies of 2001 in the US? The Pentagon was also hit, EVERYONE in that plane died, and then we lost EVERYONE on the plane that went down in Penn. as well. I just wonder why she only seems to focus on NYC.
I think we all are guilty of that. Even when I think about that tragedy, I think of the twin towers. I don't think it was deliberate. I'm sure she meant it in an all inclusive way.
i agree with kyle. i am from italy but i live in england and anytime we speak about the tragedies of 11th september, we say the tragredy of the two towers. in europe, it has become part of the common vocabulary. i think that happened because if i remember correctly, the two towers were the first places attacked and their fall was recordered by tv crews. no images of the pentagon were sent on air, therefore, in the collective imagination, the two towers have more emotional impact.
Actually no, maybe VP, so she can be creative without all the pressure...more time for CD releases, haha!
By the way, how long do you think it will be before we can stop saying "cd release?" ...I can still remember when all we had was cassettes, and Im not that old! HA!

@rookitchen : @ 4:09 it's called putting emotion into the song, and it sure sounds less "weird" than your ear bleeding cello rendition.

I always love her face when she sings "but cowboys know cowgirls ride on the Indian's side." Yes we do!
BTW the audience here is lame...
