You're on point about this being real first to let people understand where they are in the moment so they can know where they are building from. The worst thing to do is to give people the illusion they are something that they are not. But, it's all about how you go about it that causes people to want to receive the information. A good speaker understands the audience he is speaking to so that the audience will want to follow you in the direction you are leading them.

First off, 200 dollars a day 5 days a week is about 48 grand a year. That is very much a middle class level income. Up that to 400 a day = 96 grand a year. Paycheck to paycheck my ass. Maybe if you buy a big ass house, have 3 kids, and own 2 cars it is.
I make roughly 400 dollars a WEEK. I live very comfortably.

This guy is ignorant. It's clear he hasn't studied "The science of getting rich." To become rich you must think, feel, and act how rich act. You are telling kids (aspiring artist, ect) not to chase their dreams. To "keep it real" and not see themselves greater than reality.
Did Martin Luther King Jr. not have a dream? Did he look at his reality and say: "I want to change this, but thats not a realistic goal?"
I think more people should just do what makes them happy in life, contribute, do something because you want to, and then apply a worthy goal, thats how we measure success. We are ALL capable of achieving great things. Are you happy and fulfilled or thinking about what you 'think' you cant do?

Teach, brother. Part of the problem is that we live in a sound bite world "yes we can" "keep hope alive". We already know that it's possible to aim high; but most of us don't know what steps to take. Even children need to aim for education (not just indoctrination) savings, learning to work collectively with family and others, healthy living, honesty and spirituality or a moral code. Cutthroat dog-eat-dog mentality doesn't work for minorities in the USA.. or anywhere.

Here is something else to think about. Why is it that East Indians, Jamaicans, Africans, Koreans and Chinese fare so much better. I think through Black Achievement we can easily reverse the trend.
