Yet another misleading title on youtube. He wasn't even close to 170mph when he crashed. I really wish folks would be a little more responsible when they publish things. Sad that even the professional journalists mislead like this on a regular basis and its an accepted practice. I recently hit a wall at the track going around 80mph. My bike can also go 172mph on the back stretch of the same track. I don't tell folks I was going 170+ when I crashed. It's either blatant lying or ignorance..

You guys, and the stupid announcer in the video, he took his hands off so he didn't break his wrists in the wreck. It's what your supposed to do, he clipped an apex with his body at 170 and he knew there was no way to recover from it, so he started taking actions to minimize the damage to his body. Pro racer. He didn't 'lose grip,' he was at his max speed for the racing line and that wiggle from the wall-tap ruined it.

But still, what happened or what he did, whichever it may be, very likely saved his life, and it is encouraged in racing to relax and remove extremities from harm if you know you cannot save your impending wreck. It just really looked like he relaxed and the way he held his hands up looked like something intentional. Was he specifically talking about his hands, or maybe talking about tire grip?

Pretty Intense.. It is hard to keep all 2 wheels on the ground over bumps like that at those speeds. Very Skilled Drivers.

Amazing crash and survival... but I hate when these things are over dramatized. There's no need to dramatize it. It's already dramatic enough in reality. The bike was reaching speeds of 170 mph. It doesn't mean he was going OVER 170 mph on that turn.  Just tell the truth. Reality is crazy enough without needing to embellish to the ridiculous. This isn't hollywood. It's real life. If he was only going 50 mph it would've still be insane to survive that....
