I just fucking realized that good music isn't dead. It is well alive in bands such as these. People who say "no good music is being made these days" are just not delving deep enough, they gotta look past the corporation and radio-part of it all. That shit ain't music. THIS is music. And shit, it has developed! Queen, Beatles, Led Zep are gone, but music has evolved into something even more fucking beautiful. Fleet Foxes... They really are one of a kind. Fucking love them so much. Love you all!!!
I don't understand how this has any dislikes. It's the perfect soundtrack for a road trip through the mountains. Or through anywhere for that matter...
I always imagine a old locomotive going through a desolate Mountain range with tons of mountains, untouched by civilization except for the railroad tracks. the last minute I imagine the train conductor, getting off the train, going for a drive in an old jalopy, driving off a cliff. He doesn't care that he's about to fall off a cliff, but he keeps on driving. Love the song
Every time I get on my bicycle...I think of this song....my girlfreind (now wife) and I would cruise around the IU campus in the fall together. Long shadows at dusk, I'd look over and see her smile and the brisk chill of wind would leave my ears and the sound of leaves crunching and the freewheel clicking would combine into something wonderfully musical. This song takes me right back there every time........
If you dig Fleet Foxes, check out my channel! I am an unsigned, indie songwriter and I am working on a concept album about a post-apocalyptic world. (sample lyric: "what outlasts? our plastics or our souls... spinning in the gyres of what we called the sea... was our human life just a f***ing tragedy?")

@AVRIL120 I remember this artist. I always liked this kind of Renaissance period artwork. It kind of looks like Bosch, but the mood is so happy. It's the coolest album cover ever in my opinion. Glad someone else made note of it.
@jbjindra It's by Pierter Brueg the elder, and it's called Netherlandish Proverbs, made in 1559. It's a painting of peasants enacting old sayings. A distressing number have to do with poop.
@Alloflifedecays That is awesome. The Dutch had some of my favorite art of all time. I'd like this painting in my house. Too bad I'm unemployed and paying for my gas with pocket change. Some day, right?
i remember listening to 'Mykonos' a year or two back and absolutely loving it, why has it taken me this long to listen to their other stuff?? theyre brilliant

A british band that you might like that are similar to Fleet Foxes are called The FOSSIL COLLECTIVE. Go and check out the video for On and On. Its very good. Bye Bye xx
This would be my alarm clock when I live in a Hobbit Home in the mountains somewhere. I will slip on my sheep wool slippers and go outside and play in the snow with a friendly neighbourhood bear and have casual weed in a massive pipe all day long. And learn this on my ukelele. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.
@birdofbrie ... I'm am in love with the life you just described. If more people thought as we do, there would be world peace. Goodness, I love pipe smoking, hobbits, and friendly bears!
@helm8969 dont even worry about it man, people just aren't on the same level as us. If they get their kicks listening to a superficial broad singing about generic bullshit who are we to tell them they are wrong.
then again... they really dont know what they're missing
Reminds me of that magical time when the snow starts to melt after 6 months of winter and the sweet smell of dead leaves, grass, and moisture fills the air again. I listened to this last spring all the time before my car got broken into and lost all my cds. I LOVE the artwork on the cover. Which artist is that? It looks like something from the renaissance.
@jbjindra The artist is Pieter Bruegel the Elder. There's a decent write up of why Fleet Foxes chose it on Wikipedia, and there's also a page on the artist. If you like that kind of art, you'd probably find stuff by Heironymus Bosch interesting, too. I think one artist influenced the other—probably the latter influenced the former. But I agree, the artwork is great for an album cover.
I listen to Fleet foxes and it reminds me of when I had the time to go to a book story and read for hours on end. The smell of book and coffee mixed together! I cherish this memory! May seem strange to some but i LOVE IT! haha

@williamjesnider I too will grow a Yeard! Then I'll take my Banjo up to the Smokey mountains and make my own cabin out of wood I chop down with a pocket knife and subsequently sand with my bad ass Yeard.
Every time i hear this song i want to go on a road trip and wind up and down the mountains. and since i listen to this song at least three times a day it seems, I've been itching for this mountainous roadtrip :)
hey! this sounds just like the fleet foxes...mmmmm..why do i write these inane comments, i just know some hillbilly hick is going to tell me why i think it sounds like them. i wrote the other day that why do 1970's bands rip off modern rap stars from the 21st century and 2 different people commented back all hot and bothered that "actually it's the other way round, the 2010 rappers ripped off the 70's bands" do u think people only read the first few words of a comment or r just plain dumb arses?
I first heard this song, (and only the first 20 seconds of it) as bumper music leading into a talk show on the radio. I thought it was very interesting... it actually sounds very old fashioned to me. Like country music from the late 50's early 60's. Quite bubbly and the echo reminds me of Spector's Wall of Sound.
Anyway, just an observation... I was surprised to find they're the "next big thing".

@SlightlyMadNyx13 I am going to be backpacking on the Appalachian Trail from Connecticut to Vermont in a few weeks and I am definitely loading this CD on my mp3 player - SOOOO GOOD!!!
@DrumScreamHeadbang Its such a hard decision making music when you love so many sorts of genres all at once. Its those people that really appreciate music and not just listen to one genre and be close-minded.I have the same problem cause after hearing Fleet Foxes I want to make a song or 2 in this format. Its so warming to the spirit to listen to this song and Blue Ridge Mountain.
You run through the forest, settle before the sun Darling, I can barely remember you beside me You should come back home, back on your own now And even in the light, when the woman of the woods came by To give to you the word of the old man In the morning tide when the sparrow and the seagull fly And Johnathan and Evelyn get tired Lie to me if you will at the top of Beringer Hill Tell me anything you want, any old lie will do Call me back to you Back to you
Fleet Foxes, are definitely one of the best bands out there today. So amazing, if anybody else here likes them, you'll really appreciate this video below.. Great band as well

Come down from the mountain, you have been gone too long
The spring is upon us, follow my only song
Settle down with me by the fire of my yearning
You should come back home, back on your own now
The world is alive now, in and outside our home
