  • so when i don the turn out coat and the scba i cant put it on like a zip up hoodie and book bag?

  • Yeah the truck just called on seen

  • The engine left already

  • thank you for the information

  • surprised the mustache doesn't mess up the seal on the mask

  • @22bb11aa33cc a mustache does not touch any part of the mask that involves in sealing. At my department, we are only allowed to have a mustache, and that's it. Check out my speed donning video :)

  • The smoke is not really necessary.

  • and hood should partially cover your face piece

  • what materiel are these gears made of? is it heat resistant?

  • @roshan550225 Nomex.

  • @roshan550225 PBI and/ or NOMEX

  • @bobfrapples37 ok thanks for the information

  • didnt check the seal

  • he took too long 3 people died while he put his tun outs on

and here we have a place for the scba in the seat of the engine

  • @22bb11aa33cc He did it all withing 2.00 minutes per NFPA 1001 , settle down

  • Where can I get gear like that?

  • @baggedup1 Join a local Volunteer fire department

  • I love the background set for these videos.

  • Plus one more thing, you should test the seal of your mask before snaping in the regulator.

  • @TheCapt406 How can you check the seal of the mask ? If you have not got the regulator attached you will just pull air and not create a seal. You need to Attached the mask and Regulator then once you have air shut the valve and breath the set down testing the Seal of the mask.....dont forget to turn the set back on lol...once you have tested the seal.

  • @fireandsafety you place your hand on the seal, covering it, and inhale.

  • Need to check the bottle pressure before you don the pack. You should never complety trust you secondary guge.

  • how old do you have to be to be able to become a volunteer fire fighter?? I really have no idea I just felt like viewing and watching how to become a fire fighter but I kinda want to try it. And oh I'm 15 and I really want to know the appropriate age or the youngest age to be able to volunteer

  • @TheAdrian341 Some departments allow volunteers at 16, some at 18, while others have junior firefighters that range from about 12-16 usually

  • Wouldn't it be simpler to toss the SCBA over your head then it drops behind and your already got the shoulder straps on? Just wondering because, thats how we would put on our 80pound rucksacks in the military so you wouldn't injure your back and because it's easier and faster

  • @ben12342666 Alot of departments have taken the over head method out of their SOG's actually, because there is a potenial risk of hitting your head and sometimes we put on the scba's while already wearing our helmets, which would obviously get knocked off during the over head donning method. I prefer the swing method.

  • @monkeybone444 Oh okay, that makes sense, I wasn't too sure I did the military stuff for a little while now I'm in school for police and after I wanted to do a firefighter course so I thought this was a good thing to clarify.

  • Any firefighter must know this very completely. Well done! Some bunker pants may have snaps, hooks and Velcro. Also, now the new RIT belts. Coats can have snaps, hooks, Velcro and a wrap-around collar. There are no zippers on my gear at all.

I learned and still use the "left shoulder first" for the SCBA. Also prefer very tight straps, including my helmut straps. Once I put the gloves on, I am ready.

    Thanks for the great video!

  • this guy probably knows way more then me but he did forget his upper chest strap on the SCBA.

  • @balistic181 some dont have upper chest straps jsut lower

  • this guy probably knows way more then me but he did forget the upper chest strap on his SCBA.

  • Doing my CABA course soon. :D

  • this guy did everything wrong haha

  • My best time was 4:27 breathing air...

  • He didnt check for a seal after tightening the SCBA mask.

  • i always put on my nomex before my bunkers...but thats just me

  • if you notice he never has to tighten his waist strap. Its already pre-set for him. Other wise he would have been over his 2 min. mark.

  • If its your own stuff it would be to your size anyway right?

  • Wow! It takes me about 60 seconds to don and start up BA and that's when I'm already in turnout coat and trousers. Impressive!

  • you could never see with the visor down it gets covered with smoke

  • im guessing alot of u gies r firefighters and i think it would be a good job but i dont like to see blood and is going into a burning bulding scary?

  • hey pdubs 926 thats why you suck it up and get some balls

  • thanks man u no i needed that no but it is true i need to get some balls for that kinda stuff im not really scard of anything but i dont like blood idky

  • I put on my bunkers and nomex, my gloves are in my bunker pockets... grab the coat n helmet. and walk to the truck,. the rest gets done on the way.

  • Well even so, this is just demonstrating how to put it on. That is how I perform it aswell (on the way) but I was also tested that i could get all my gear on, in order and in under a minute.

  • @sbfirefighter15 if u have to put your full gear on inside the station thats crazy. if you cant equip your full gear (everything except hitches) inside the truck thats wasting response time. the only thing i put on inside the station is my pants and nomex

  • Wow that was pretty fast, even when he talks about what to put on and other things...

    nice video

  • he did that faster than my first try timed lol.

  • we are taught to always put down the faceshield in South Florida. When we "clap out", we should have donned gear correctly and checked seal for leaks and show no skin. The last steps for us is then the helmet with shield down and then the gloves. It's all relative and comes with practice.

  • this is good...by the way don the nomex hood while you are stepping into the boots becauise then ure suspenders go over your nomex an hold it down so it cant pop out and you get a steam burn...

  • good tip thanks man

  • @dmc216 Are steam burns rare?

  • @1f5sda no, depends on how thoughtless your team mates are

  • @bobfrapples37 Okay!

  • why does the coat only have velcro and not any snaps and/or buckles. from what i have been through velcro wears down real fast if it is used very often.

  • My best time was 59 seconds. I felt that is a pretty good time .

  • 1:09

  • everybody is like my best time is this well i just put my gear on in the truck Get to the station put my pants on grab my jacket and helmet my gloves and hood are on my jacket and the SCBA is in the truck

  • My best time was 52 seconds. Full bunker gear and SCBA breathing air.

  • thats nice.. lol.. all i care abotu is getting bunkers gear on fast, cause scbas are seat mounted... jump in the rig buckle seatbelt and just put on scba on the move, haha but ya, beign fast at all is crucial, but beign the fact as we cant take bunker gear home(and i wouldnt anyway this shit i know ive crawled through hahaha) and cant respond in povs no need to really time myself from civis to full turnout and ppe

  • My best time is 1.35 this is full bunker gear and packing up and breathing air. I started by standing beside the engine getting dressed and stepping up into the engine to put on the scba.

  • Randleman Fire Dept

  • my best time was 1:31. Phoenix Fire Dept

  • He should first check the pressure, but he just mounts everything :)

  • my nys fire academy is 90 seconds on air. i did mine exactley 55 seconds

  • in order to pass fire fighter one in new york state you have to be in full gear plus breathing air in 90 seconds

  • so intense thanks for that i applied to be a volunteer fire fighter today so that helped any tips on the oral board interview that could be useful

  • my best time for full turnout drill including S.C.B.A. (on air) was 1:05

  • he says in the other video to check a aseal on the mask but in this one he does not !!how irionic

  • my best time was in my firefighter 1 class. my time was 1:37 breathing air

  • close to mine, mine was 1:39

  • my best time for just turnout gear (no scba)1min 18 sec

  • but ur supposed to get ur turnout gear on in 60 sec and SCBA on in 60 sec, its called the 2 minute drill

  • my academy requires turnout gear (no SCBA) in 45 seconds or less...

  • Good to know for future and new firefighters. Love your videos.
