I have those 2 cyclonuses but then again what TF fan doesn't by now, lol, I also have a repaint of cylonus, Henkei Strafe. And I have the new Cyclonus in the mail, he comes with hot rod & autobot maytrix, they both are painted to match their G1 cartoon counterparts better.
Classics is based upon the G1 toy colour schemes and Takara's Henkei is meant to be "toon accurate". HOWEVER, Henkei Cyclonus is NOT toon accurate. A good comparison is in the "More Than Meets The Eye" entry for him (as a targetmaster). The Henkei version uses a lavender similar to Shockwave and also uses a completely different colour map to his anime model. The Jizai Toys model kit is miles better than Takara's dropped ball but then again its expensive to boot.
Henkei is based on the look of the 80's cartoon which I like. I have this on preorder but it has not come out yet. I also have the original complete and two hasbro universe Cyclonus' btu I prefer the Henkei myself!
That's what I was looking for. It's amazing how few people compare the new Classics to the original toys in their reviews - likely because they don't have the originals.
Anyway, the Hasbro version actually looks MUCH better than the Henkei in this rare case. However, I would gladly trade in the Hasbro Nightstick for the Henkei version.
Part of me is inclined to agree with you with regard to trying to create a good-looking toy.
The Hasbro colors are more of an homage to the original Cyclonus figure, which was a very deep purple color. The Henkei one is intended to be more accurate to the cartoon - the trend among the Henkei toys in general - and that's why the lighter purple is there.
However, the light grayish purple, while being a great animated series model homage, looks a little bland and less intimidating on the toy.
OMG I forgot how horrible looking the G-1 figure is compare to the newer versions

He'sthat colour because it's closer to the colour he was in the cartoon where as Hasbro went for a colour closer to the 80's toy.

Maybe you should have waited a few days for your nose to stop running before filming, as it SERIOUSLY detracts from the quality.

Which Cyclonus do you recommend? The Henkei one or the US version?
ultramagnus573 3 years ago 2
If you can find the US version... its only 10 bucks. The Henkei is usually 24 plus shipping. Same figures...

He was a bit darker version of this in the show and his bust is in the same colour

Henkei is definitely more G1 cartoon accurate in color.

Another excellent review Moshman.
I especially liked the way you compared Henkei to Universe and also to G1.
Can I ask where you managed to pick up a Henkei Cyclonus so early?
Thanks!
