So much for low power low heat Atom cpu... look how huge that fan is... maybe they need to make less dense CPUs and VSLI chips, that don't require fans at all, but passive heatsink... that can be the outside case.

Congrats for being the first (& only?!?)
person on the web to show the inside
of this thing... too bad it's proprietary.
:@/
I'd love to see (or better yet, make) a mod
with an Intel D945GCLF2 Dual Core,
or even DG45FC Core 2 Duo (with some sort of
low profile, heat-pipe cooling mod).
Might ned low profile RAM also(?).

But it's already SUCH a tight fit,
there may not be room for even a laptop HDD.
Maybe a CF-to-SATA adapter, and a PicoPSU?
Then add an internal USB WiFi (or PCI card on
a "leftward" PCI riser?) adapter.
Anyone got a broken/non-working Eee Box
for sale, very, VERY cheap?!?
;@b
Another option, with built-in WiFi,
ZOTAC NF630I-F-E
AND you could go Quad-Core*!
*(Although, I have no idea how you'd cool it;)
You can't go for an quad core.

On certain mini-itx motherboards you can...
Several/most of the Zotac boards,
Intel DQ45EK, maybe some others(?).
Turns out, the Eee Box is too thin
to accomodate most/any other mini-itx
motherbaords, it's only 1" (25.4mm),
whereas itx boards are ussually close to,
if not double that... *sigh*.
I'd still like to attempt it, one day!

The power supply can't run an quad core. It has an 65 W power supply
Yeah, that would have to be replaced, too.
Maybe a 120W (or greater) Pico PSU
type power supply...
I;m actually talking about replacing
all of the insides, and just using that
nice outer case, any way.
Anyone got a broken one for sale yet?!?
couldnt you just connect it to a network hdd

your Eeebox probably is broken because you thought it could handle alot more than it is used for not much of a test when your taking it apart.
