All of the characters stories are sad, Angelica's father tried to kill her for life insurance, henrietta's parents were brutally murdered, Triela was kidnapped to be used in the making of a snuff film (A murder film that /doesn't/ use special effects), Claes is used as a test subject by SWA's engineers.
It's all sad, but it also makes Gunslinger girl one of my favourite animes.
