I have played one Ibanez and it was a good guitar don't get me wrong, but I didn't really care for the feel of the neck. It was a bit too flat for my taste, I am more of a thin C kind of guy and this thing just felt like a flat block with the sides rounded.
Ibanez rg 2000+ series are awesome. For such a quality, they are low priced. edge zero tremolo with zps3 is better then Floyd rose, they are more functional and have easy spring tension and intonation option, with higher tuning stability if even a string breaks. Dimarzio pickups are awesome , and dude, the neck is world's highest quality and most comfortable one. Looks are also super. So for such an affordable price, you get a highest range guitar( when compared to ESP and Gibson, it is very ch
@plazma619 They have a really good wood quality, it's a nice job. Nice trem operation, yes, but well, I'd change the pickups later with dimarzio. If you want metal, and can affor a little more, go for 2000+ series. But well, Dimarzio IBZ RG pickups are all ceramic so if you want smoother sounds, but 3000 series, or modify 1500 series with alnico pickups of dimarzio or seymour duncan. But yeah, 1570 is better then any quitar in it's price range.
@sacredgeometry nop dude they suck, i payed it about 900$ and the neck broke. i have 2 ibanez guits, the really suck, what a waste of money and nervs.
@rizakan Not sure what you have been doing to them but generally the only ibanez necks that broke were the original wizards and it was generally user error. Since they stopped making them from one piece of wood....ie the early 90s they havent had issues.
I too have two ibanez guitars and have had many other guitars from gibsons, fenders to £50 guitars, ive never had a neck break and have been playing for 19 years.
Of course when I started playing the guitar I got a Kramer cuz EVH had one, then got an Ibanez RG560 because of Vai and Satch. I have bought 4 more guitars over the years for the simple reason that I liked them. And 2 of those are Ibanez's. I got 25 years of playing under my belt now and I choose Ibanez.
@mojoefly Probably because they encompass both speed and tone. They are made as thin as 17mm width at the first fret with a combo of maple and walnut to ensure as little tone is sacrificed as possible. Or atleast thats the theory.
i had a strat and a lespaul... i loved both of them!!! i had the fender strat 10 years and the les paul 10 years also...i recently sold it to buy the prestige s5470 tks!, should get here by mail in 2 weeks now :) can't fuckin wait, hell i can't fuckin sleep anymore lol
I have a RG350MDX, fantastic guitar but the tremolo (Edge III) is very annoying and goes out of tune alot. What are the tremolo's on most RG prestige's (Edge Pro or Edge Zero) like? Also, what was the song at the end of the video?
Well, the ibanez tremolos (even if they are technically licenced floyds) are actually quite excellent (with that i mean the original edge, edge zero, zr2 tremolo, you know, the stuff on expensive guitars) and Mr. Floyd rose himself told that the ibanez edge's are the best licensed floyds around.
demand of the public??? you guys dont listen to shit...WE wanted a similar model of Dino Cazares' guitar meaning: RG body, 7 string with REVERSED HEADSTOCK!!!!! how many years have we been asking that.... i couldnt wait no longer.... so i bought a Jackson COW signature 7 strings which fits the above description... thanks for listening.
@linchpin313 dude...Dino Cazares SUCKS...im freaking mexican and i hate the guy...his Mexican Flag RG is offensive...have you ever seen japanese ibanez dealers? they carry some guitars not avalible to anyone else...even low end Rg's are different..They listen to the demand of the public...but mostly japanese public i guess...thats just my opinion though
@RicardoDiazHimself have a little respect for Dino man. You're just a dude on the internet, he created a whole genre with Fear Factory. I dont like his new band but Fear Factory and Brujeria are fucking Landmarks in metal music.
I love Ibanez guitars! ive had an RG for almost 12 years now and i must say its been a trusty axe for sure! well built, sounds very good and looks well its an ibanez so for its age at least, it looks killer! only problem ive had with it is the socket `oldschool one that gets loose screws, nuthing major really! my latest guitar isa XPT700 and man do i love it! and i don't use the word love lightly! im planning on adding a new member to the family soon. im sure it will be an ibanez as well!cheers
I own a Prestige S2170fb, and love it! I particularly love the ZR tremolo bridge. I play 2 to 4 hours a day, and often thrash the tremolo Jeff beck style, and I only have to tune maybe twice a week. I plan on getting another Prestige in the future to go with this one, but the new one will have a 251/2 inch scale. Thanks Ibanez for a great axe!
@twolf422 i have the exact same guitar and i love it as well. The only thing that i wanted was 24 frets instead of 22, but it is still a great sounding guitar.
@lunapuwn well yeah its just getting more and more dominated by private companies that just do one thing if we had tons of small companies doing different things people wouldnt have the same guitar ever and hence they would have theyre own sound every time
i wish i could afford an ibanez prestige. most of them cost like $1000 or more. instead i'm stuck with a crappy ibanez gio GRX40 which goes out of tune like most of the time.
Why did you buy it in the first place? The gio series by Ibanez is their lowest end series. Except for the grg-290 every gio guitar sucks. You should've bought a rg series semi-professional model like the rg321 (which is a amazing guitar for the price) right away.
@ReTr093 i bought it 'cause it was the only guitar in my price range. now i'm saving up to buy an ibanez RG370DX or the RG321. it was a big mistake on my part to buy that guitar but sadly my budget that time was too low and it was the only decent guitar in my budget. others were cheap strat copies that sounded terrible. i'm selling the guitar now actually to make funds for the higher end.
why view this then? i have no beef with esp, but the craftsmanship of gibson sucks. i had a sg, and it had dead spots all over the neck, and when the paint wore, i could see the inferior quality of mahogany on the body. on top of that, the neck stability is garbage and it goes out of tune every three songs. do you even own any gibsons?
hmm... yeah, i only jumped on your comment because i'm tired of seeing people comment and critique on instruments they have never played. like all the teenagers that feel the '59 paul is the best ever and have never played it. i had a bad experience with gibson, but i guess it's possible to get a bad axe from any manufacturer depending on the consistency of their quality control. i'm glad the explorer works out for you, it's one of the best body shapes ever.
maybe esp, but gibson? how the fuck can you even say that with a screen name like behemoth. gibsons are ok. but not for the fucking price. for 3000$ you could buy, i don't know, like 3 esp or ibanez guitars that both sound better and that actually have something like quality control. and gibson necks SUCK because they're too proud to fix them
@Behemoth941 maybe you're not used to play a genuine guitar. it depends on what your style is, if you like hard rock/ metal you should play Ibanez RG, if you like guns 'n roses play gibson.

@veevalter lmfao? japanese shit is cheap and doesnt last long take your crap toyotas and see how long they last. American cars = outsustain your shit and is built better than your shit. This thin stuff will break easly take a Gibson and see how many pieces of wood it has. You fucking japs always trying to be world leaders at what? Who has the best millitary? AMERICA DOES. These guitars are Japanese built meaning mostly better than Gibson. When I think american made I think of a fat drunk slob, when I think japanese made I think of precision, and detail.
I just bought a Ibanez today its a SR505 5 string,I gave it a name i call her "Dark & Lovely" I love the sound of this bass,Thank you guys,Thank you guys,Thank you guys for hand making these great sounding tools
I have the S5470, the 22 fret, and it is probably the best and most reliable guitar i have ever owned and it can play a huge variety of music, any thing from jazz to heavy metal. I love ibanez guitars.
Suck it up and change them, it'll be worth it, I promise, Prestiges are amazing. :) If you get that Prestige, you're going to have to change the pu's anyways, the pu's are on the cheaper side, but everything else is seriously amazing about it. The Holy Grail of tone. T.T
@Guitar1sti actually ESP guitars now have por quality control, meaning that the quality is inconsistent from guitar to guitar. the guy has a valid point.
been playing ibanez basses since i was 16. Never played another brand bass since =). I got the 5 string SR605 bass and and a BTB765. I love the necks on these basses.
Tried all kinds of ESP's, especially the Red ESP Horizon F-II model. Not for me. I then picked up a lower-end Ibanez Prestige model(RG1570), and was blown away. The neck, the action, the smoothness of the trem and the way it carries pitches accurately and evenly(especially artificial harmonics.) I've tried Schaller FR's, btw.
since you're already paying $2000, you probably have the money for some brand name pickups, you take the cheap pickups out and install the ones you like best
Older S470s had powersound pickups, which were O.K. in my opinion. The newer ones have INF pickups, which are similar to powersounds..
I have an RG with INF pickups. I like the INF pickups. I would recommend the S470 as a great all around guitar. It's a lot of bang for the buck. It's also a good guitar to get acquainted with the entire Ibanez line of guitars, which in my opinion, are the best on the market.
Can anybody tell me if the Ibanez s470dxqm is worth a crap I had an rg 430 along time ago and it's pickups sucked although the body design made since it just had a lot of quirks I didn't like.the 470 is beautiful and thin for action I can see but does it have good tone for multi tasking, blue vs. jazz vs. metal etc.-thanx
i think it is. i have one and i play all kinds of music but the one thing i dont like is the middle pick up i keep hitting when i play and finaly broke and i put the pick up back way in and i love it now
Just bought a ibanez prestige rg3550mz straight from team j craft thNk u DCGL it is amazing, I've played prestige models for four years now never any clicking on a dice bomb or any tremelo use r u sure u have a prestige. If ur goin to get an ibanez do not get a regular model only prestige you"ll be glad u did even if you don't have the money u better start saving. Thnks PG for signing my guitar!!!
I wish I knew. I might be because of the more "rock" tone of rosewood compared to the brighter tone of ebony, but could also be because rosewood is cheaper. I love jet black ebony on a fretboard. I've got an old Ibanez Roadstar Steve Lukather model with ebony fretboard - it sounds beautiful.
what song its this, i love ibanez basses they have the best parts of them all, i been using ibanez for 7 years, there the best, i trust them always and so should you. ibanez sr500 FTW!
i had several ibanez pretige guitars, those guitars were good man except for one thing.there were aclicking sound on the neck joint when ever i pull or dive my bars,do you have the same problem..im planning to buy an ibanez rg 1550m...
it" a waste of woods, they should start building INSTRUMENTS

I have the S5470, the 22 fret, and it is probably the best and most reliable guitar i have ever owned and it can play a huge variety of music, any thing from jazz to heavy metal. I love ibanez guitars.

TwentyfourFrets 1 year ago
Suck it up and change them, it'll be worth it, I promise, Prestiges are amazing. :) If you get that Prestige, you're going to have to change the pu's anyways, the pu's are on the cheaper side, but everything else is seriously amazing about it. The Holy Grail of tone. T.T

@Anarchyffan it seems that you dont know anything about guitars and playing? or are you just a troll
Guitar1sti 1 year ago
@Guitar1sti actually ESP guitars now have por quality control, meaning that the quality is inconsistent from guitar to guitar. the guy has a valid point.
maybe its you who has no idea?

LTD ESP GUITARS 4 LIFE N' METAL

Tried all kinds of ESP's, especially the Red ESP Horizon F-II model. Not for me. I then picked up a lower-end Ibanez Prestige model(RG1570), and was blown away. The neck, the action, the smoothness of the trem and the way it carries pitches accurately and evenly(especially artificial harmonics.) I've tried Schaller FR's, btw.

got the AX7 from 99 i think

one thing Ive always wondered,Why does Ibanez put the same pickups from $2000 prestiges into their $400 chinese/korean models?
rockerdude29 2 years ago
they're cheap, so no unnecessary costs
since you're already paying $2000, you probably have the money for some brand name pickups, you take the cheap pickups out and install the ones you like best

I have my RG with inf3 + inf4! Although there are
some details that could be taken care of -- like
sharp edges of frets, etc. But for approx. 260E...
Ib321mh 2 years ago
Older S470s had powersound pickups, which were O.K. in my opinion. The newer ones have INF pickups, which are similar to powersounds..
I have an RG with INF pickups. I like the INF pickups. I would recommend the S470 as a great all around guitar. It's a lot of bang for the buck. It's also a good guitar to get acquainted with the entire Ibanez line of guitars, which in my opinion, are the best on the market.
youtoobaccount11 2 years ago
Can anybody tell me if the Ibanez s470dxqm is worth a crap I had an rg 430 along time ago and it's pickups sucked although the body design made since it just had a lot of quirks I didn't like.the 470 is beautiful and thin for action I can see but does it have good tone for multi tasking, blue vs. jazz vs. metal etc.-thanx
blitzspeer 2 years ago
i think it is. i have one and i play all kinds of music but the one thing i dont like is the middle pick up i keep hitting when i play and finaly broke and i put the pick up back way in and i love it now
razzer1991 2 years ago
same problem here bro haha. could be our picking style u know. cant always blame on 1 side :(
hattbroz 2 years ago
yeah i had the same problem..but now im used to pick between the middle and bridge pickup
Manaslash 2 years ago
it's okay i'd look for an older ibanez like s540 or an older s470 they were built so much better
brandon5pennies 2 years ago
The only limits on an ibanez is the player ability.
If you need the S470 for styles of A,B,C I'm sure the tones are achievable with that model.

Steve

i also noticed one thing i havent seen an Ibanez so far with an Ebony board besides certain jems....anyone know why?
aznboyhottie93 2 years ago 4
I wish I knew. I might be because of the more "rock" tone of rosewood compared to the brighter tone of ebony, but could also be because rosewood is cheaper. I love jet black ebony on a fretboard. I've got an old Ibanez Roadstar Steve Lukather model with ebony fretboard - it sounds beautiful.
ForViewingOnly 2 years ago
In fact rose wood is way more versatile (in tone option) Ebony fretboard are almost only for fretless or for guitar born to play metal.
IllusionaryMind8 2 years ago
Rosewood is more versatile than an ebony but isn't it that maple is more versatile and strong wood than a rosewood? hehehe
