I would drop a stock 440 in it, make it look factory, maybe ditch the wheels and ride around all day on the corinthian leather picking up chicks with Ricardo Mantoblan.
I swapped out the wheels for a set of American Racing Tailgunners. 235/60/15's on the front, 275/60/15's in the rear.
Still in process of hunting down a 440, but the way things are going with gas prices -- I might just save my money and put a blower on the 360. Still weighing out the pro's and con's!
THIS WAS MY FIRST RIDE HAHAHAA.........BUT IT WAS SHIT BROWN IN COLOR HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.........MAN DO i MISS THAT DAMN CAR........IT WAS A FUCKING BOAT
hey man, just was wondering if you still have this very cool car? I talked to you a year ago or so. Still love seeing it. Hope you still have it. I'd buy it if you sell it.. Let me know
I'd certainly love to hear your offers, but the car does need a little work at this point... probably wouldn't plan on selling it until spring anyway. I'm getting new front discs put on as well as a new pitman arm.
Keep in mind, the car isn't perfect. It's just a pretty clean ol' girl with cosmetic issues here and there.
My first car was a 75 Cordoba. I'll never forget that car (you never forget your first). Gray with a black landau roof. The body was deteriorating by the time I got it but I loved the car anyway. Yours had some slight changes for 78, the taillights and headlights, steering wheel etc. Still essentially the same car obviously. Those blinker lights at the end of the hood were great, hilarious to see commercials with Montalban calling it a "small" car from Chrysler.
Sweet car! I had one exactly like that except it was a 79, it was the same color and had the red pinstripes. It had red cloth interior and power everything, the interior was the same color as the dash in yours haha. It also came from California but it wasn't quite as nice as yours but was in real good shape, it had a 360 2bbl. I wish I hadn't sold it.
nice car man!!!!! my buddy and i just pulled a 1978 cordoba out of a pond today in warners NY it must of been stolen they put a brick on the pedal and sent it backwards into the pond from what it looks its a shame someone did that im guessing it had to had been back in the late 80's the crazy thing is it still has a perfect sticker on the driver side door the vehicle id numbers are all is still there but i cant find any info on the car ...
@midnitesquirldog That's amazing! I know a place in NY where there's a couple old first generation HEMI cars (not 392 or 426, the "Red Ram" HEMI). They've been sitting in a swamp for about the past 50 years and this one family won't let go of them.
@JarrodES13 the car very poor the frame is rotted bad and there really is not that much of a trunk left theres about 500 bullet holes ill take a video the next time im there
These were well built cars. I once had a '78 Cordoba. The thing I hated about it was that Electronic Lean Burn spark control computer mounted next to the air cleaner. I eventually changed it out with another electronic ignition system.
Oh my parents had such trouble with that minivan that my dad swore he would never buy a Chrysler product again. And he was kept his word on that still after 25 years to bad.
Love it I grew up in one my parents had an 1976 silver in color. They traded it for one of the first Plymouth Voyogers in 1984. To bad ha ha they did that.
Understandable! It seems like everything went from steel to plastic over the period between 1980 and 1985. Damn shame, but as long as safety standards improve that's okay. I just miss the old steel sleds.
Very nice Cordoba, triple white and everything..mmm! But you drive it in the snow???? Please no....I have a 52K mile 78 with much less options and Im afraid to take it out at all...take care of that gorgeous car and keep the miles low! Its a part of history!
Of all of the vehicles I have ever owned my Cordoba had to have been the most comfortable and luxurious. I would LOVE to own one of these again. Mine was IDENTICAL to this one. Can I ask what you paid for it?
I paid about $4,500. A few things didn't work on it when I first got it either. A/C needed recharging, belts needed to be swapped, prior owner chose the cheapest set of spark plug wires to buy... runs like a champ now though. Full tune up and full synthetic.
Wow, that sounds like a great deal. I wonder if I could find one for around that price, in that same conditon. I would kill to get one of these! Thanks for showing this one!
Well, seeing how things go with my 1980 Aspen, the Cordoba may be on the market this spring. I was intending on keeping the Cordoba for a bit longer, but the Aspen is my first car and I haven't been able to drive it in about two years. The Cordoba has been a wonderful car, but it's just too original for a 20 year old to have. My Aspen's originality is long gone at this point, so I can do whatever I want to it without feeling guilty.
i have a 77 charger se that still has the lil 2 bbl, stock intake and it runs looks and drives like a dream.318 auto.i was thinkin bout changin the intake and carb 2 a 4 bbl.what do u think?anyone?
Sounds like a good plan to me. An aluminum intake would definitely help save a little bit of weight and the extra two barrels would certainly help power. Shouldn't be any problems to do it either -- just a small block Chrysler anyway.
nice car. my grandparents had a green 78 a few years back. not sure if it was a two for four barrel carb. no power windows or locks though. it was bought brand new. from looking at old pictures of it, it was really nice. then the years got to it. leather seating got tore up, lost the original hubcaps, a few minor things happening. my grandfather got rid of it about 7 years ago. man, wish it was still around.
10W40 is a good start for these old cars. Also, try burning 92 octane 'super'. Your car will love it and stop stalling at stops. Gas was better back in the day than the 87 octane sh!t they sell now. Mine wouldn't start in the spring with last fall's gas still in it, had to be fresh and 91-92 octane worked best.
Understandable. Chrysler's always had some sort of weird quirk to them. My 1980 Aspen would do that as well on occasion, but it was also incredibly out of tune and was strangled by emissions and a single barrel. Slant sixes were so gutless in the late 1970's... o_O
Dude your car is sweet. I'd love to buy it. My first car was a 76 Dodge Charger SE rally package. I loved the car. It was loaded like your Cordoba. The ride on these cars is awsome. Your lucky as hell to have it. I could not have replaced the stereo either. Thanks for posting. Made me want it first tiem i saw the vid.
Well, I might end up having to sell it soon. My first car (pictured on profile picture) was refurbished and finished before it ended up getting smacked by a woman while it was parked in front of my house. To give you an idea of how much money I had into it, when I collected the insurance money, I paid for this car in cash. Aside from that though, as much as I love this car, I can't keep both of them as much as I want to. Such is the curse of being a broke college student. Wanna buy it? lol
Wonderful car! Mine is a 1979 Cordoba, same color Spinnaker White with the white corinthian leather and the red dash and carpet. Mine has shifter in the floor and a full console. Got it NEW in fall of 1978 for my high school graduation in 1979. Mine is still original and in about the same shape as yours, but there is some rust coming through the vinyl top. I stopped driving mine when it hit 155000 miles. It's stored now. Also the stripes for 1979 go down the middle of the doors.Tks for vid
Why would you convert the engine to a newer weight. You will get sludge in your engine. Dont believe me check it out after 4 years of running that. Try synthetic 10w-40
That just leaves me wondering then because it is a four barrel and it does have Lean-Burn, but the only thing is that it doesn't have is the dual-exhaust. The dual-exhaust was only around for the 1979 300 edition.
Haha. I know exactly what you mean. My dad and my brother both have 1980's Ramchargers, and my dad used to have a 1980 Plymouth Volare Roadrunner. All of them have the buzzer, and even my 1980 Dodge Aspen has it!
I would drop a stock 440 in it, make it look factory, maybe ditch the wheels and ride around all day on the corinthian leather picking up chicks with Ricardo Mantoblan.

JarrodES13 3 years ago
What year did the Cordoba switch to a chime since this Cordoba has an obnoxious buzzer?
Jac2Mac 3 years ago
Not too sure. I just remember hearing it in every Chrysler I've been associated with. Maybe mid-1970's?
JarrodES13 3 years ago
Did the 1980-83 Chrysler Cordoba use a chime or a buzzer?
Jac2Mac 3 years ago
Probably a buzzer. I still remember Chrysler using that as late as the 1990's in some jeeps.
