  • thats a good lock

  • lets gonna try it out !!!!

  • wow how easy was that! Time for new locks me thinks!

  • I remember back when I was on punishment (often really) my mom tried to lock the computer with the case lock so I couldn't used it. A pen and a hair pin did the trick. That's when I was twelve. Now I know how thieves are having a field day in NYC. Pathetic on the manufacturer's part

  • the new Kryptonite and Onguard ulocks dont use the round key anymore. they use a weird looking flat key but its not like a house key

  • @nauctube, good news then. I know the one you mean, it's an Abloy style key and they are pretty good, well outside the ability of your average bike theif to pick.

  • ouch!

  • Damn.

  • holy shit, those can be used to open soda vending machines.

  • Pure lock pwnage!! LMFAOO!! xD

  • its better if people get the Alarmed disc locks....thieves might be able to open them, but they will most likely activate the alarm.

  • usual lock are made for hones people but some unusual locks may be a challenge to them, like a hefty chain (15mm or more) and a big U-padlock (big i mean 20mm and up).

Ordinary pliers won't cut through but if you have a highly valuable bike, don't count on it.

I would be safe with a bike knowing that it's a scrap frp A-B not a good bike.,

  • locks are made for honest people

  • If locks work, you would only need to buy one...

  • F*ck me that's terrible!

  • I guess you don't have to worry about losing your key.

  • But You Have To Worry About Losing Your Bike ;)

  • Awesome and scary video... O_o

  • i have the same lock with the flat key... believe me this IS a strong lock... but its only decent with the flat kinds of key

  • Well... at least you won't have trouble finding a spare.

  • thats just sad...if all these companies especially kryptonite cudnt figure out this giant glitch wtf r they gud for...holy shit..if another company comes up with an amazing lock that just cant b picked, cut or just opened in anyway they will get 100% of the lock market, cuz the ppl at it now r just dumbfucks who design fucked up easy 2 rob locks...u cant trust any1...kryptonite is the worst of them

  • But then again thats how lock companys get money. people buy a lock and put it on a bike. it gets stolen and the locks gone/broken so they go buy another one when they get a new bike

  • Oh my god. How did ya do this?

  • Well id say with a biro and sticking it in the key slot then turning yay you learn't something

  • ... oh sh*t! will be more secure with other locks!

  • I have two Oxford Omega's on the wheels, and a fat Oxford chain (i cant remember the exact model) But its big and heavy (cost me £120 last year)

Only problem is.. i've had some minor damage to my bike, since the theifing little sh**s cant gets the locks off, they usually end up snipping my bike chain in anger. tw*ts.

  • Oh yeah its not going to stop ALL attackers, but it's more likley to put off the chancers who just so happen to be walking down your street with some bolt snippers.

Unfortunatly, for those of us who have saught after bikes, you find people usually go out of their way to steal it.

What i've done is two disk locks on each side of the break pads (So the wheel dosnt move at all) a heavy duty chain around the front wheel and the bike frame, and thru a floor anchor.

  • How heavy duty? I'm not trying to flog you an Almax, iy just seems that you have made the effort to secure your bike properly, it would be a shame to be let down by it. for what it's worth, the only disc lock that I have any respect for at all is the Motrax Vishas, all the other lock type disc locks are easily croppable. You've made alot more effort than many.

  • When you lock your bike especially with a chain, make sure the chain is as high off the ground as possable, so the dirty chavs cant use the ground+body weight to leverage the bolt croppers.

  • That's generally good practice to avoid hammer attacks but sadly it won't make cropping any harder unless it's over 2ft from the floor. Since making the Almax vid, I have changed my style to 'off the floor' and it's much easier. Only way to make sure your chain isn't cropped is to get a chain that CAN'T be cropped. Good advice though, thanks.

  • locks are only to keep honest people out just about antthing can be cut with just tubing cutters just get insurance or dont leave expensive bikes outside

  • "Only there to keep honest people out"? How does that work then?

What's a tubing cutter? Where can I get one?

  • its just a tool to cut instrument tubing mostly stanless tubing rated for pressure it has a cutting wheel and you spin it around tubin as you tighten the blade

  • I've tried that, they aren't any good on hardened steel. How do you cut a chain with a tube cutter?

  • It's hard to not leave your expensive bike out! Bar having it in your bedroom with you while you sleep. Even the garage door just has a lock on it, does anyone know of any truly brilliant locks for bikes?

  • Yes, Almax make the best chains going for motorcycles. Combine an Almax with a decent ground anchor and a good locking technique and you're done pretty much all you can do without laying claymores. I have Almaxes on all my bikes and I sleep well knowing that there literally isn't any more I can do, chain wise, to look after my bike. Ok, maybe I could alarm it but there are ways of killing alarms.

  • Thanks I'll go shopping!

  • i had 5 thick oxford chains on my bike.they didnt pick the locks just cut through the chains.

  • Path of least resistance. I'll be first to admit that your average theif doesn't have lock picking skills but these are just too easy to pick and something needed to be done.

  • I am sick of payin a sh*tload of money on security products that never prove their value. Pay 30 or 60 quid to buy a brand name U lock, Oxform or Kryptonite etc, and at the end of the day it's worse than a simple lock that costs £2...

  • If it's any consolation, round key locks were withdrawn by Oxford after pressure from RiDE magazine. If you want to see decent security in action, check out the other Captaincropper vids.

There are a few good D locks out there, the 16-18mm Kryptonite New York is ok if you fill the D section and the £170 Abus 59 (16mm square shackle) is pretty tough.Neither of them will stop someone putting your bike in a van though.

  • I happen to own a Boss alarm disc lock, made from Oxford. Alarm? What alarm? I need to throw the damn thing on the ground for the alarm to sound.

I would be really curious how difficult it is for a lock like this to get picked. Maybe 1,5 mins? Maybe 2?

  • Depends on the barrel. If it's an Abloy style barrel then yer average mouthbreathing chav theif won't stand a chance. In reality they don't pick locks, it takes skill and time, far easier to find a bike that's locked with a cable lock and just chop it in a couple of seconds with cable cutters or find a bike using any of the chains in my other video. If the shackle is less than 15mm or so, then it's prone to cropper attacks.

  • The lock itself looks funny to me. That isn't really meant for locking up bikes, is it? Anyway, good job with the pick. I'd like to know where you got/made that magical tube.

  • Yes, it's sold as a motorcycle lock. The magical tube is an Artline 1000 pen with the end cut off.

  • I suppose, yes, if you used a good chain, then it would make sense as a motorbike lock. I was thinking of it as just a regular u-bolt for a pedal bike, in which case it seems much too small to be practical. Anyway, I've never heard of an Artline 1000 pen before, but at least now I now what to look for. Thanks.

  • aw cool

  • hırsıza kilit dayanmazmış vay ibneler vay

  • Absolutely dude, absolutely.

  • way aq :D

  • :)değil mi ya

  • does this work on pay fones andvending machines too?

  • if i it does you will be a rich guy/girl

  • Or broke and pennyless in prison.

  • true but if you dont get cought oyur fine

  • so what kind of lock should I buy? what is toughest to pick or break. msg me :D plz

  • The new kryptonites locks with no barrel key...Trust me..Its a bitch even with the key.

  • Yeah, you string plucking potty mouth!

  • Oh, and you're blocked so you can't reply, so ner.

  • Anyone who thinks Nobogroll is a bit gangstah shouls have a look at the amount of ukelele videos in his favourites page :o)

If you could see what I could see, when I'm pwning spazzers.

  • that is fuckin stupid anyone could steal your bike with a pen or a pencil am sorry i clicked on this video you should design a chocalate fireguard dumshit

  • Good strong string :o)

  • Solution: Tie your bike up with string

  • oh men...

you have to work for the cia.

and you right. "Knowledge is power"

i know that i never will buy some oxford shit.

    thanks!

  • If anyone from the USA is watching this, these locks are STILL widely available in the US, I saw several at a Harley shop in Spartanburg the other day. Avoid.

  • No, the reason your bike was stolen is because Oxford sell this crap. To be honest I wouldn't bother picking it with a pen if I were going to steal a bike, the insides of those locks are made from hollow metal tubes and plastic, 20 seconds with the croppers and they fall apart. Knowledge is power, you now know NOT to buy round key locks or any of the chains cropped in the other videos.

  • Oh, god. The videos like this that were popularized are the reason my old bike got stolen.

  • I am going to nick your bike.

  • I have a Series IV Almax, good luck :o)

  • Hi mate just wondering what pen you used as cheerz?

  • Works with any soft bodied pen like the Pilot V5 or Artline. Crazy thing is that it was all a waste of time really, that particular lock is just a thin metal tube with plastic innards, I had it in abour 4 bits in less than half a minute with bolt croppers. Luckily the press jumped on the bandwagon and forced Oxford to withdraw radial keyed locks and replace them with Abloy style locks. Oxford security products are still crap in my opinion regardless of what mechanism they use.

  • ain't it dumb using bolt cutters that's to bate enit
