Well, looks like Chuck Berry as history said, take the music from the place of worship and take it into the world. That sound was the way of worship for the saints over the Nation.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe was one the early pioneers of the electric guitar. She was playing licks and making moves like this long before Chuck Berry (in fact...check out the semi duck walk she does at 1:55).
