  • " Have you ever tried to use Scottish money in England? Theres nothing more tense in life" True, we raise more shit in the air then that place has ever probably came across;D

  • As a Scot living in England, I looked into this. The only 'legal tender' that exists is Bank of England notes. Everything else is not legal tender. That includes Scottish & Irish notes, cheques, debit/credit cards, travellers cheques etc.

The fact is that Scottish money is Sterling and can be generally accepted...after speaking with the manager usually. Remember you can always go to another shop who will take your business.

  • SCOTLAND! SCOTLAND!

  • Not all this it true.... Well not every Scot is like that, but what he says about the money is so true. England hate when us Scots give them Scottish money.

  • @angelbabes15 I actually love it, cus at that point a Scot comes out from hiding behind the fruit and shouts "I think you'll find pal, that's LEGAL TENDER!"

  • i hate this cunt

  • Is there actually a reason why English shops sometimes don't accept Scottish money?

  • @EF1MMA The reason is that people who work in shops are stupid.

  • @EF1MMA because counterfeiters often make scottish money and try and pass them off in england where people are less likely to notice.

  • @EF1MMA it's cus they don't see as much of it as English money, so don't know what fakes look like. And googling doesn't help. Same goes for Norther Irish money

  • You can see Mark Speight sat in the audience at 3:00 :(

  • Shite.

  • BUT IT IS LEGAL TENDER!!!!!!!!

  • a didnt find this one bit funny, hes shit at trying to do our accent

  • @TheCav2010 he's shit at comedy.

  • this guy can shove it up his arse cause hes an idiot

  • Yeah, I've heard the "that's Legal Tender" before and some of my friends laughed and said they did too. But of course, we still like the Scottish, even if they aren't very keen on Americans these days. A lot of Scots settled in certain areas in America and also Canada.

  • dont fuck with scottish people who have a holiday booked.

  • SCOTLAND RULEZ! FREEDOMMMMM!!!!!;)

  • @OMNISLASHER1000 I'm from England and I still tried to thumbs-up your comment :)

  • lol too true... but being scottish rules!!!!

  • @BoulderSholders My cousin's grandmother was from Scotland. She was such a funny old woman but she said "bastard" constantly! Of course, she would also take a tiny hammer in her purse to the grocery store to dent the cans to get the price reduced! Hahaha .What a character!

  • @germanamericanable your grandma is awesome.

  • Oh shit, there's the guy from SMart that killed himself at the end!

  • typical english twat

  • @SJWSmart grow up

  • @REZOWNO no matter what age you are you can still call him a typical english twat? in which he is

  • lol..wait until we get scottish independence and we can put an oil field on scottish coins...and live with wealth within scotland and no distribution to lizzys latest royal boat. we will be much better off !

  • @Chef1707 alex salmond is going to open the flood gates and let half the world immigrate here.

  • @Chef1707

'wait until we get scottish independence

    Not going to happen, sorry.

  • @CynicalVision You`re wrong, sorry.

  • English Bastard Pound lol

  • McIntyre IS funny but he can't do a Scots accent let alone Glasgwegian...

  • i love this man!

  • its true, we Scots love to have that battle at the counter of English shops. 'Thats legal tender'

  • Aha I'm Scottish n this is so funny xD

  • Welsh people don't have their own money because they can't be arsed. And I am Welsh/Scottish! HA!

  • Lol, I love being Scottish! If you walk into an English shop with a £20 note with "Bank of Scotland" written on it, you raise more Hell than you would if you'd walked in with a 12 Gauge shotgun!

  • .....SUPERVISOR!!!!

lmao I work in retail and this is so true...

  • 24 ya bas :)

  • THAT`S QUITE RIGHT!

  • 23 people are scottish ;)

    no hate,im scottish..paisley ftw:)

  • '' Royal Bank of ... oh shit! '' priceless :)

  • @florriefgs I love doing that one it is brilliant just to see the till persons reaction it is even better with Nothern Irish money

  • 22 people have no sense of humor

  • I was laughing even before I watched this. xD

  • Its so much funnier when you're actually from Scotland :P

  • @stephxbones so true mate XD

  • @stephxbones How Do You Know?

  • @trampolineboxingTBC .......because I'm Scottish.

  • SCOTS = the slaves of england!

  • @hummer8384

technically our monarchy took over yours, so you are OUR bitches.

And if we had voted to leave in the 70's England would be a third world country while we would be living it up. Maybe thats why Westminsters wanted to keep us even though they slag us off for years.....hmmmmmmmmmmm

  • @johnnycarrotheid A third world country typical Scot. The other day one told me they invented television.

  • @ComedicTheory It's not entirely possible to answer the question "Who intented the television?". John Logie Baird, a Scot, certainly did contribute a great deal.

  • @boner2008 What else did you invent? The wheel? Stairs? Life on Earth?

  • @boner2008 Really? Stick in at school. You call Scottish non educated. Get a life you little waste reprobate. How did a Scotsman not invent the television ? If this isn't to hard for you to take in then did you know each country has its own things that it has invented. It seems England has only produced ignorant little kids, like yourself. You have brought shame upon your proud country (not an offence to England, just this little retard)

  • @Mcghi3 Uhmm. I really do hope you replied to the wrong person. You see, it's kind of hard to figure out if that's the case or not as your comment was mostly filled with drivel. I'm Scottish, and proud of it. I'll begin at the start. I'm at university and already have stuck in at school, please point out where I called Scottish people uneducated. You ask how a Scotsman did not invent the television? What is this, Primary 5? I researched the topic before posting my original comment (cont)

  • @Mcghi3 and found that John Logie Baird did not invent the television. There were many contributing engineers and scientists that developed different aspects within the field, nobody sat in a room for years and came out with a TV. Each country has it's own things that it has invented? There you're just completely wrong. People invent things and government and companies often allow for development of those ideas the nationality of the inventor does nothing other than allow lists of (cont)

  • @Mcghi3 lists of successful inventors from each country to be made. I'm not even going to address your statements about England. They're ignorant and unfounded. I bring shame upon my country? Even though you got my nationality wrong, I think the only one bringing shame to Scotland here is you. Just a "little retard".

  • @boner2008 Trolling fail I see ? You just babbled on for nothing. Your biggest flaw in your logic was your own ego getting in the way. If you stepped of your pedestal for a second you would realise that an inventor is not the same as manufacturer. Yes John Logie Baird did invent the television. No one said he actually built the thing. An invention is a idea, a concept. Sometimes backed by a prototype, other times not.

  • @Mcghi3 Herp derp. I've done my research, provide me a link to a coherent credible article that backs up your claims.

  • @boner2008 Typical ignorant reply that you get from a troll when he/she is proven wrong. Why would a need to back up my claim it is common sense and also common knowledge that an inventor is not always the manufacture of his own creation/idea. There was many inventors before John L Baird but he was the first to "hit the nail on the head" also he DID build the first functional television. Here is evidence I managed to find since you cant look it up yourself. (continued)

  • @boner2008 I have some sources here for you but YouTube wont let me post links, so you will need to look it up yourself. You are in "uni" so it shouldn't be to hard for you, should it ?

  • @Mcghi3 You seem to have introduced an argument yourself. I don't understand why you keep bringing up manufacturing. If you read and understood what I said originally, that people invent things and other entities may allow for their development, you wouldn't have needed to bring up manufacturing as you would have understood that I was presenting an example that allowed me to explain why inventors nationalities were taken into account at all. You just said yourself that (cont)

  • @Mcghi3 "There was many inventors before John L Baird", so how on earth can you continue to believe your arguement is valid when you contradict yourself so blatantly? I researched a little more and stand by my original statement. Television was not invented by a single inventor, instead many people working together and alone over the years (one of which was John Logie Baird), contributed to the evolution of television.

  • @ComedicTheory Also "third world ". Its kind of funny that where play a big part in the financial back bone of Britain and when do we ever get recognition for it ? Without us you would lose one of the worlds most highly sought after resources. Oil. If we ever go independent you will be fucked . True we will still be doing business with you and exporting oil to you but not as much as we are giving to Britain just now.

  • @Mcghi3 What you're failing to see is that England has been a worldwide powerhouse throughout history. Not everything is about oil.

  • @ComedicTheory Yes that is true and I'm not denying that fact but what I will say is in today's economics revolve around oil and industry, two things Scotland provides to Britain.

  • @hummer8384 Brush up on your history.

  • @hummer8384 Brush up on your history.

  • @hummer8384

Stop trying to rise an argument for no reason.

  • @garply101 u r just a fuckin arrogant english cunt arent u. fuck you dickhead. its still the currency of great britain ya clown ye. doesnae matter if its scottish or english money, ya wank stain

  • "Luckily a Scottish person appears at this point. Where do they come from?"

    Scotland maybe?

  • he's pish

  • Each Eurozone country (of which there are 17) has its own banknotes, with a value of one €uro to the €uro. €ngland's only claim to 'culture' is curry, warm beer , lousy cooking and football hooligans.

  • Y u no funny....

  • Could guess there would be essay comments about whos better than who and nationality. SHUT UP!!!!!

  • As an English customer I wouldn't want a store in England to give me Scottish money, and I don't give a crap if it's legal tender or not. Scottish people, just hurry the fuck up and press Salmon for an independence vote and vote for it ,OK?

  • aha when a went ti england once oan a holiday a came back up went into a shop and the guy said we dinni accept fukin english money :L a wis like summer doon doll face! aha i luv bein scottish :L

  • Story telling time in the comments i think.

  • aha was in England and I bought something and the woman was like 'ooh i'm so sorry, I've only got your change in Scottish notes. But don't worry! It's perfectly legal!' lol bitch, I am Scottish :D

  • Same has been happening in Scotland now for a while, our revenge. English money is rarely seen but is NOT refused to shop if you have it. It's all Royal Bank of Scotland, Bank Of Scotland and Clydesdale Bank Scottish notes. Which is legal tender anywhere in the UK, same Pound, same sterling, same. It's just a case of hatred in England for not wanting to accept it.

  • When I went to down to Legoland in England, the only money I had with me was Scottish money. They actually have a seperate box with Scottish money it, specially for when Scottish people come down. XD

  • I was once took a train from England to Scotland. When i was in England and told people i was going north to Scotland they replied things like "Oh it's so beautiful up there, you're going to have such a great time" and stuff. When i arrived in Scotland and told the Scots that i was in England for 2 weeks before they said things like "Fuckin' English assholes!". SCOTS ARE AWESOME!

  • LMFAO @ 'Ah thenk yu'll faind pahl thairts liggal tairndar'. Only banknotes issued by the Bank of England are legal tender in the 'United' Kingdom, legal tender being that tendered which cannot be legally refused.

  • Brilliant! Next he should do a bit on fat bobble-headed cunts.

  • Erm, Im anti-petriotic but watching this makes me proud to be scottish, im think im petriotic

  • his accent is bang on XD

  • if i ever go to england i am gonna make sure i have some scottish money with me

  • @FenianScum Never said they weren't.

  • We have some reputation for a country of only 5.2 million =]

  • @123rfclb EXACTLY. That's why I nearly burst out laughing when I hear Brits talking about the crisis of "knife crime." Just run the fuck away! How hard can that be?

  • most places take scottish currency now but i was nearly arrested when i tried to use a "shetland" 5 pound note. they're just odd!!

  • I'd like to point out: £10 STERLING, the Scottish city

  • Royal Bank of..oh shit. ROFLMAO!!!!!!

  • cool never been top comment and its linked to the other top comment

  • @maximotheone

Congratulations... when you think back to the day you got your first computer, the day where the dream of getting a top comment on youtube was born. Did you ever think that it would be on a video called "Michael McIntyre on Scottish people"? Sometimes they say you don't choose the video, the video chooses you. Like a first kiss you always remember your first top comment.

No really, that is very ironic about Glasgow.

  • ah it funny because its so true

  • I'm actually surprised that the situation is allowed to happen, either make it so the RBS, etc notes are officially legal in England and Wales or stop printing it. Although I've never had any trouble with my fellow Englanders accepting these notes, when you're being served by some paki or nigger it just fucks me off.

  • @Snagprophet ey I am a Paki and muslim, I am offended, just joking my skin is white my hair is brown and I eat fucking bacon, but there are a lot of blacks and Indo Aryans in England, it's all aprt of a zionist plan to pwn all goyim n00bz. Would you ever like all your daughter and sisters marrying black men?

  • @Snagprophet Yeh man, post an angry comment on YouTube, that'll show them! Fight the power!

Out of curiosity, why do you hold such an irreverent and hateful attitude towards other human beings who happen to have minimal genetic differences which result in a darker skin colour from your own? While you're at it, perhaps you could also point out something that you do in your time away from hateful, empty, useless YouTube posts, which meaningfully contributes to the society you live in?

  • @Snagprophet whether you hate or not people of different skin colour, the society you living in is like that, there is nothing you can do about that. Racism is bad and the vast majority of people will always consider racist people as ignorant.

we're 2011 and life is too short, don't waste it hating people.

i know you can say whatever you want on the internet. adios

  • FREEEDDDOOOOMMMM!! William Wallace

  • @xxxAcademyGirlxxx Any Notes printed in Scotland or N.Ireland are not legal tender. Yes the are in the country of origin. Therefore traders in the country you handing(E.g England) the note to have the right to refuse the payment because the note might be unfamilliar to them, Although Post Offices, Clearing Banks, And building societies will readily accept them. Crown Dependencies such as The isle of man Have the same currency, but still can be refused but will be readilly accepted as above

  • @gsmith2000994 well they are legal currency as the Uk parliment has approved them

  • scottish people are mint

  • lol...im scottish and this is so true

  • i'll let you English folk into a wee joke us Scots like to play when we are in your fair land, in particular London. When in a London cab, we try to pay with a Scottish £20. When the racist cabbie finishes his rant about how we shouldnt come to his country with our mickey mouse money, we say "sir, as you have refused the legal tender i have offered, im assuming this ride is free" and jump out the cab.

You should see how fast the prick takes the money ;-)

  • RBS notes are *not* legal tender. No one has to take them in payment of a debt (not even in Scotland).

For those saying Scottish bank notes should be legal in England because Bank of England notes are legal tender in Scotland may be surprised to learn that Bank of England notes are *not* legal tender in Scotland - resulting in only certain coins being legal tender in Scotland.

  • @BobTheMunificent i think you'll find that RBS notes are "legal tender" as they have to be accepted in England or it is against the law if they don't accept them. And they are accepted here in Scotland. I'm not trying to start a fight im just saying what is true

  • @xxxAcademyGirlxxx Nor did I have any intent to annoy anyone: just pointing out that things that people have been told are true for many years are not necessarily true when you investigate further (and I include myself in that).

I did look it up before writing. I already knew that RBS notes are not legal tender in England, but I was surprised to learn they are not legal tender in Scotland either - and that nor are BoE notes in Scotland.

  • I'm soo gonna do this when I come to London next year haha xxx

  • 'Don't fuck with Scottish people who have a holiday booked.'

You have no idea how sage that advice is.

  • God, it's so true! :D

I went to England on a school trip and I tried using RBS notes in a supermarket. 10 minutes to pay for some sweets!

  • @Doctor387 i've had RBS notes refused several times

  • faf lol

  • 2:58 - RIP Mark Spade :'( ...But Michael McIntyre is bloody funny!!

  • @CSINYFREAKnumba1 its speight, not spade

  • @kalkenbrenner -There I go sticking my foot in it, again *facepalms* ...thanks for the correction. Thought it was a shame that he committed suicide, my neighbour's dad hung himself at the weekend there (his oldest kids is only 9).

  • English money is allowed in Scotland!

So Scottish money should be allowed in England! It's not fucking rocket science, it just simply fair. At the end of the day it is still called the Pound!

  • People are saying Scottish Money is legal tender. It is not. In England some people don't have experience in distinguishing a real Scottish note between a fake so prefer not to take them just in case. But it is NOT legal tender. No shop is obliged to take your Scottish note even if it was legal tender anyway.

  • @MisterScottishPerson

    I really hope you're trolling.

  • @Avradizimir You hope I'm trolling? I'm a law student and it was one of the first questions I ever put forward to a lecturer so yeh, I can ASSURE you that Scottish banknotes are not legal tender EVEN in Scotland. Look it up why don't you and quit coming across as a jackass.

  • @Avradizimir Here you go, put the spaces together on this link scotbanks. org. uk/legal_position .php

  • @MisterScottishPerson

I was talking about your ridiculous response to a joke rather than it being factually accurate (I don't think anyone here could give a shit).

  • @Avradizimir My ridiculous response to a joke? Well it was nothing compared to your spineless comment which didn't really make sense in the first place. Now, if you would please, let's make room for people who have genuine comments and not gutless bitchiness such as your own.

  • @MisterScottishPerson

Go get a sense of humour or steer clear of comedy videos... seriously :/

  • @Avradizimir Hush now. I found the video hilarious. I was correcting other people who were saying Scottish money is legal tender. You had the same opinion until I corrected you, now you are just pissed off that someone proved you wrong. How arrogant must one be. Run along now.

  • @ecaepevolhturt sorry, but who asked for your input?

  • @MisterScottishPerson ppl bully each other in social contexts because they have low self esteem. Youtube equals free speech, and subjective arguements/opinions can be exchanged but you don't have to be so hostile about it. Your aggressive/condescending style of communication only reflects your lack of self (emotional) control but that is normal for a passionate eighteen year old. Remember things like "self control" and "empathy" are functions of "intelligence".

  • @ecaepevolhturt Hmm, "bully", aren't you the sensitive one. You're very bad at belittling too, you should work on that.

  • am from glasgow and i reacted the same when someone gave me northern irish money thought they were takin the piss scottish independence all the way

  • when we hand money over to the people at the shops in England they just look at our socttish money as if it's monopoly money or something, brilliant!

  • Be honest, I must be the unluckiest bastard on the planet to be born in the only part of Scotland which sucks baws (Fife). I've been more of an Anglophile due to this and I don't want independence, but at least I can acknowledge that our country does have some decent spots.

Michael McIntyre is a ledge by the actual way.

  • @MrNinjaFish aha i live in Fife. its a shit hole but everyone that doesnt live in scotland think its posh cause of fucking st andrews :L :L

  • @AlexChiverton You lucky bum, I have to live in a new town!

  • @MrNinjaFish aww i dont live in st andrews unfortunatly im not posh enough :)

  • @AlexChiverton the game

  • I'm scottish and i think this is funny as fuck

  • Thumbs up if you are going to vote YES to Scottish INDEPENDENCE !

*Nothing against our good neighbours on this island, but we just want to be a proper independent country like any other in this world.
