If you're a single person approaching a police officer, and the officer has no reason to believe you're approaching them with hostile intentions, you can easily approach them without fear. When protesters begin to approach officers, however, naturally, the officers are going to be prepared to send you off. And you know what? There's no reason to approach the officers. They're doing their job; go protest peacefully and don't bother/approach them, as you have no reason to.

Sadly, experience shows otherwise. One reason to approach a police officer is to find out how a non-protester or journalist can safely exit the area without being tear-gassed or arrested.

I can't see why an officer wouldn't be willing to help you out if a single person went up, without a camera, with hands fully visible - just to show that you have no intention of taking out a weapon, naturally - and made your intentions clear before you went close to them. honestly, this was the final day of the RNC and it was a PEACEFUL protest, the police basically got "fed up" with the protesters at about 8pm central time and proceeded to fire tear gas and flashbangs into a crowd they had surrounded. they corraled them onto a bridge and arrested 396 people including press

the police were firing tear gas when I was there on Monday, so I know they weren't doing it because they were fed up.But yes, it was a peaceful protest.I saw one guy get violent, he was dressed in all blcak, face covered, he walked right though the riot police with a big metal pipe and smashed some store windows(10 feet in front of the police)and then walked right back through them without the police even touching them.Right after that the police starting spraying and beating the protesters.

Saying our country is a good place to live because it's not like other countries isn't necessarily true.

Just because it's a good place to live at the moment doesn't necessarily mean that it's the ideal place to live. We the people can stand up and make change and create a better place to live. You are essentially saying that our politicians should be allowed to run a country based only on what they believe and not the people of the US. Those in power have been taking our rights away for years.
