Every time Dean is in the audience there is a big star seated next to him. Jimmy Durante and Jerry's mom and dad behind him when he is Cary Grant. Im not sure who the girl is when hes Groucho... Jack Benny when he is Clark Gable. And Tony Curtis when he is Ben Hogan... any other stars in the audience?
Actually, the "COLGATE" show (which changed its name to "THE COLGATE VARIETY HOUR" in the summer of '55) went off the air at the end of 1955, 'efrem'. NBC tried to revive the "COMEDY HOUR" under its original name (and participating sponsors), but not its format, in January 1956; it was literally a mess. Not even Gale Storm could save it when she acted as its "hostess" in the spring. It was replaced by "THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW" (while he appeared on "THE TONIGHT SHOW") in June of '56..
@prodigiesofpeace He actually says, "Don't forget next week, the penguins."
There's an earlier part, which I think was cut out of this one, where he says something along the lines of "Next week on this here stage, this stage next week, we'll have 1000 penguins smoking Kools!"
Each person Dean sits by is famous. When Cary Grant, Jimmie Durante is to his right.Next to Gracho is a female actress, not sure of her name. Jack Benny next to "Clark Gable", Next to golf player is Tony Curtis
it looked like Patti, Jerry's wife, was sitting next to him when "Solomon" introduced Martin & Lewis.

The first time I saw Dean I thought he actually was Cary Grant! They look remarkably similar. And Jerry is incredible as Ed. :P
