  • @Sonyoooo3 Yes sir so when veggiterians are calling you a carnivor or a monster you can say hipocrite plants eat meat too and you eat that and you're judging me? Now who's the real monster? Lol

  • I have a plant genetically mutated to eat hamburgers and glow in the dark, who needs a night light when I got a plant!

  • And yet we need them/nature so we can also live etc. weired.

  • All type of plants are canibalism by its own purpose etc. Just like the kidney makes the color element are sorted and when you phee its clean. Plants gives like a home feeling color but it is actually brainwashing you by its beauty so youl stay just to blead or die etc. but in reality you are like the flies or bee.

  • meh.... i just feed my mega flytrap a steak.

  • give it a hamburger from KFC lol

  • Do you have to buy these plants on exotic type stores online??

  • best part 1:48-1:52 its my opinnion

  • i give them my sperm

  • My camera phone shoots better video than this.

  • Hamburgers, hotdogs, or pieces of ham. This will kill your plant" after watching the news that junk kills anything thats living not just plants. just takes us longer

  • and me drinks the water very very very fast (and i only have one) and now he has gron to more traps (one is growing its teeth) and when i try to feed him with my tweezers to feed him (i kill the ants and stuff first) and i only give him ants and spiders and stuff and i just drop them in and he does not clos the trap i have to rup the red bit with tweezers and then he closes the trap and he does not eat them the just luy there

  • you know my venis fly trap i got it from homebase i got a very big one with 11 traps and they were very large one (a little bit like yours) and it had 2-4 dieing traps why (i think they did not feed the venus fly trap any thing to eat ) and i gave him water from the top (after wathing your video on how to take care of venus fly traps i leared that you put the water in a pot and thel drink it from the bottem)

  • say that website 5 times fast

  • expert village no | expert killage yes

  • Why am i going to feed the plants myself when I have two big dogs in the back yard? My dogs deficate atleast every day and attract a lot of flies. All I have to do is discard the feces and the flies will go to the carnivorous plants. Bug problem solved :)

  • @xwarxsabrewulf Not to be gross, but your plants would have no problem consuming the feces as well XD I have fed a group of young sundews almost strictly off of dubia roach poop and at 7 months old one of my little cape sundews put up a flower :D

  • what idiot rated all the comments as a thumbs up except the spanish guy?

  • look down

  • you dont make sense

  • i meant up

  • @AnOTHERPRoDUCTi0N lmao

    you made my day

  • lol

  • lo quiero en español

  • yo queiro quezo

  • does each trap in my venus fly trap need to eat or does one eating fed them all?

  • No, just feed one trap once a week. But try to mix it up each week. Because if they catch the flies in different ones bigger traps will grow. But if you just stick to one all the other traps will die without growing another trap back leaving you with just one.

  • @StudioVibe omfg no it wont it benefits the whole plant. plus, that would be the first trap to die! the one you feed.

  • were do u buy the fruit flies?

  • wont the flies fly?

  • No, not if the flies land on plants like Butterworts and Sundews, because they have a sticky coating on them that the flies stick to and can't escape. However, flies would be very bad for Venus FlyTraps or Pitcherplants (Droseras), because they can fly right out.

  • haha hambugers and hot dogs

  • creppy

  • Carniverous plants feed themselves!

They have sort of evolved very cleverly to attract the insect.

I don't feed mine and when I cut the dying trap open of my nepenthes or sarracenia after their growing season they're full of flies, wasps and ants!

Don't feed them... let them do what they were designed to do!

    Idiot!

  • Agreed, never feed them at all unless you're the extremely unlikely person who lives in an insect free environment.

  • ok wait so ur saying to let them feed them selves do i leave mine outside or inside?

  • Well, I keep some outside, some inside... most Sarracenia can put up with most US climates as that's where they are from... california, deep south - the Okefenokee swamp in Gorgia is home to many Sarracenia. If you suffer bad winters, cover the dormant plant with straw to stop frost getting to it.

When I open mine at the nd of the growing season they are packed with insects... they live on my bedroom. bathroom and kitchen shelf. They attract and catch.

  • can i use worms that u use for fishing

  • Non-vegetarian plants! Who woulda thunk!

Can we use these plants for salads? Are vegans & vegetarians allowed to eat these non-vegetarian plants?

  • can vtf eat ants

  • yes, as far as i know all carniv plants eat ants.

  • yea

  • If someone has a pither plant and knows how long it takes to make then devide so you have 2 tell me just message me if you know or if you have any tips.

  • how often I have to feed my Venus Flytrap and sarracenia and how much?

  • 1 fly a week is fine, of course if you're keeping it outside during summer then you dont need to, it can feed itself just fine. And in winter you don't need to feed it at all (it needs to be brought indoors if the temp is going to get down to freezing)

  • when did plants eat meat?

  • Those are alien plants imported from another planet. Very rare and extremely expensive to get.

  • Your an idiot sir.

  • calling someone an idiot whilst using bad grammar is always a bad move.

  • Plants (droseras, sarracenias, dionaeas, and other canrivorous plants) learned to adapt because they live (or used to live, from all the illegal harvesting) in swamps, bogs, and other places with extremely poor and acidic soil, so they adapted by getting their nutrients from the insects they eat.

  • "no hamburger, or hotdogs" lol love that line. XD

  • 14 second intro = FAIL!

  • wat about slugs mine lovem

  • hahahaha you're an expert

  • lmao i almost shit my self when he said hamburger hotdogs or ham lol hoooly what a jokester

  • my trap closs really slowly any tips

  • probaly the temperature or it been close to much

  • I do, learn to spell better

  • do u have to ever transplant carnivorous plants such as the venus flytrap?

  • yes

  • no its carnivourous the plants dont need the insect to live but it gives the a good growth.

  • you're an idiot fyi

  • freaking idiot u think that little plant can catch a big animal made outa meat

  • No they can't catch big ass animals & i never said that they dnt eat flys stupid...

  • Venus flytraps can catch toads and very small mice.

  • if they dont eat flies why would its name be venus FLYtrap.

  • Bugs have no meat on them, just an exoskeleton. You clearly are the ignorant one.

  • My first comment says that I'm pretty sure flies aren't made outta meat

  • Then I am the ignorant one, I thought you were being sarcastic.

  • Just an exoskeleton??? I think you are both ignorant.

  • where do you get wax worms????

  • Fishing bait shops generally sell wax worms.

  • Lies! I gave my venus fly trap a small wax worm and the leaf died!! :(

  • can you make a video abot octapus plant pleas

  • Comment removed

  • Fruit flies, eh? I think I need to get some of those plants for summer in my kitchen.

  • can you feed it slugs?

  • so the plants dont need water at all after they are ready to eat bugs?

  • Yes they still need water and lots of it. They are found in bog type habitats in nutrient poor soil. Just think about a place that when you stepped your foot into it, the footprint was deep and likely had water in the footprint when you pulled up your foot. Likely smelled bad in that area as well. That's the environment you are trying to duplicate. Since very little nutrients are available in that soil, the carnivorous plants adapted by recieving nutrients by eating insects.

  • what about just flys around ur house can u feed it that

  • wow...I want one of the sundues...or whatever its called, for my backyard xD

BYE BYE LITTLE KIDS WITH BALL!

  • can I fed wasps to it??? It's a Venus Flytrap

  • wait, wait...did he just say napanties?na-panties?lol lol!!

  • Yes, I'm sure everyone was looking forward to feeding plants hotdogs.

  • Can you fed them your beard?

  • Do you have to feed them? I'm sure most of the plants can feed on their own. Just have to water them.

  • Yes they feed on thier own just fine. Sarracenia outside(witch is where you should grow Sarracenia) will capture hundereds of insects to the point that the insects are above the digestive fluid. Even in my house my sundews catch several gnats each evreyday.

  • can i feed it a frog?

  • dont feed them anything with bones. it'll smell like shit while it's digesting, and it will make the plant sick

  • Wrong! Search: it ate the bones. It was posted bu pirranhaboy01. His Nepentehs Spatahulata grew like an insane weed from eating a mouse and he even says that there was little to no smell. where did yiu here not to feed them anything with bines?

  • i was speaking from personal experience. i fed mine one of the baby mice that i feed my snake, and after a few days it started to smell. then after about 3 weeks the plant opened up again, and i had to pick out the bones. it was pretty nasty

  • Ok IM sorry but it sounds to me like you put a helpless pinky into a venus flytrap correct? That is really horrible. Disgusting. They wouldnt even be caught naturally pinkys they stay in the nest.

  • it was already dead. i feed my snake frozen pinkies that i get at Petsmart.... geez

  • What do you mean geez? How would I have known that they were frozen? What kind of snake do you have? I had a gulfar snake that I caught in my backyard for about 3 or 4 years. How do you get it to eat dead mice? Or do you have to defrost them or somthing? And wouldnt it be healthyer to feed it live mice? Or it doesent really matter

  • i have an albino corn snake, and yeah i defrost the pinkies. i don't think it makes a difference. i asked my vet, and he said it shouldn't matter. sometimes i have to wiggle them around a little bit to get him to eat them though. he's kinda picky.

  • Are you trying to kill your plant? Just feed it flies or insects.

  • when i fed mines a wax worm it manges to escape!

  • ok, so DONT feed my carnivorous plant a hamburger or hotdog, just worms, got it

  • righto dont feed my carnivorous plants a hamburger or a hotdog. you dont fucking say . i thought they roamed around the forrests like chimps bears tigers elephants snakes pieces of lasagne and tacos

  • do they only eat live stuf

  • i usually feed my venus fly trap with some mosquitos and little ants

its impossible to catch these alive but, i put em on the mounts, tickle a little it and then it closes but

he still ''digest'' it even if its dead and also, mine is very young and i guess its sick, since its not complety green and kinda red/brownish

it is VERY young, its kinda flat to the ground

what should i do? is it sick?

  • All you Need to do is cut off the traps and theyll grow back

  • Okay so are you suppose to feed every one of the venus fly traps or just one?

  • all of them

  • no just one

  • so how am i suppose to catch fruit fly's for my butterworth

and PS: i just feed them ant's and aphid (and the occasional mosqeeto that has been annoying me for the last 5 days :@

  • you can buy them from breeders, pet shops or online. or you can breed your own.

  • I live in China and we feed them the insect that they sell for feeding carnivorous birds. They are easy to find.

  • nerdtastic video

  • I thought it was

    CARN-NIV-OR-US

    0=

  • i thought it was

    car-ni-vo-rous

  • i'm not sticking my hand into one of those...

  • Carnivorous plants are harmless, only harmful to your pet snail of small pets or eating them. Trust me.

  • some of them can eat hamsters and mouses tho =)

  • Hehe true but that would be a small pet :D

  • one day you wake up and your head is gone...........

  • LOL!

  • Very informative. I don't plan on owning one, but this is cool to know.

  • how big to venus flytraps get? I can imagine there could probabally be ones deep in the wild that are big enough to eat birds and chipmunks. deep in the un-charted parts of the rain forest there's probabally an unknown type of venus flytrap that can eat people.

scientists should experiment with venus flytraps and try to grow huge ones.... actually i can imagine that could make for a great horror movie.. killer venus flytraps gone insane... LOL

  • Umm. They are actually only found in 1 spot in carolina and the biggest they can get is to the point that they can eat frogs:0

  • 6inch in diameter and the trap can get up to 1.5inches

  • there is a movie about killer fly traps, it's called "The Little Shop of Horrors"

  • oh really? haha i gotta watch that movie!

  • any one an expert in carnivorous plants? can u please message me and tell me, will these plants die if not provided with insects and other stuff they digest even if they had good water and sunlight?

  • they will not die but they will not be so healthy and the speed they grow is going to decrease!!!but plants do have always need to be exposed in sun and also too much distilled or demineralised water

  • are any ants good for the carnivorus plant wit the liquid in it?... plz i need to know thanks

  • Yes, but alot of them.

  • this kicks butt

  • uhh. lol mothballs and heroin.HA

  • i give my carnivorous plants a weekly dose of heroin and mothballs, and they seem fine...

  • gummie bears!!!!

  • What about earthworms?

  • FEED THEM THE SOULS OF THE DAMNED OR THE BLOOD OF THE ENEMY......or soy sauce and ketcup

  • lol

  • best one! XD

  • YOU MUST get all the hot chiks ... hey i just lost some for even responding to this

  • ROFL

  • just feed them babys

  • ROFL

  • how about ring worms?

  • thats just a fungus...

  • Use DISTILLED or REVERSE OSMOSIS or RAINWATER to water them or THEY WILL DIE. NEVER. NEVER. FERTILIZE! As the guy said in the video never feed them hamburger or anything they can't find naturally. They need BOGGY CONDITIONS. NO POTTING SOIL. Soil: Just Peat Moss/Perlite or Peat Moss/Sand. MESSAGE ME ANYTIME. ANYTIME. If you need any help! These are NOT typical little houseplants or ANY type of plant you've EVER grown and will kill them oh so quickly if you try to treat them this way!

    ~NeciFiX

  • I am a carnivorous plant grower and grow more than 50 species. To grow the plant, like a Venus Flytrap or Sarracenia, you need to put them outside basically in bright full sun. NEXT MESSAGE FOR REST OF CULTIVATION TIPS.

  • where can you buy a venus fly trap?

  • Wal-Mart or @ Flytrapshop (dot) com . I'd go for Flytrapshop (dot) com (turn the (dot) into a ., YouTube doesn't allow URL's) since they actually grow their Venus Flytraps, at Wal-Mart, they put them in a dark corner and let them die. If you want to get HEALTHY Venus Flytraps, you MUST order online. That's the bottom line.

  • leave them out in a room temp area, and after the full one is empty though evaporation and the other full using THAT water because it is pure. *shrug* Just my two cents.

  • Don't get me wrong about this, I have little to none info on feeding Venus fly traps but I don't think their is really any difference on Tap v.s. Rain Water. Other then if your using a purifyer then the tap water will be clearer and probably better for your plant because of all the junk in the atmosphere. But then again I've heard that getting two pots of water, one full with any water, then another empty, lids on both, cut out a hole in both and putting a straw or something close,

  • The reason you don't use tap water is because it has to many minerals, which will kill the plant. It is usually best to use distilled water.

  • i had one and it died :( they are hard to take care of

  • venus flytraps are awesome! i want one

  • Not you again.

  • interesting.

  • Cool! I used to have a Venus fly trap when I was I think 8. Yeaaahhh...I killed it. Within a week. I think it had something to do with the soil. Either there was too much water or too little, or maybe the sun?

  • what was the water you used to keep the pant alive?

  • I had used tap water. I thought they liked water since I thought it was a tropical plant and all.

  • the best thing to keep them alive is rain water.
