Whilst it is true that the two parties are more similar than ever, i'll point out it is Labor in the 1980s that liberalised the Australian economy beating the Liberals to it, and that there are still marked differences, LGBT rights were ignored under Howard but are being introduced under Rudd, not to mention the rest of the various changes that have been/are being implemented.
