I happened to drop=out at the age of 17, school was so mundane - lacked substance. Went straight for my GED. Do I regret it? Not at all. I'm holding down a decent paying job & on top of that, I'm starting college in the fall.
Dropout rates may correlate to crime and unemployment rate. These people don't get enough education for their career. School is a place to discipline people, understanding justice, and learn life values. Please people, don't dropout from high school. If you did, take GED. If I met a person who dropped out before graduation and he/she didn't get GED, I will say, "Shame on you"
Heres how to stop ppl from dropping out of high school. tell them that if they do well and dont drop out they will go to collage. then they will get a good job get lots of money and eventually get as much ass as they want
Bill Gates may be a drop out, but he had a talent. Don't expect to drop out and become like him, because in most chances, you're never gonna be like him.
the only thing wrong with this is that it says he is worried what he passes on his way home and they show graffiti i have been doing graffiti for 2 1/2 years every writer that bombs is an artist unless gangs abuse graffiti then it just looks stupid all im saying is that people like me who are true to the art who do pieces burns throw ups tags and murals are good people just artist
It has nothing to do with race. Isn't not being racist ignoring the fact that we are all just people? If the person in the commercial was white, would you still be complaining?
@iOlliei Bill Gates actually dropped out from University of Harvard. But his grades and SAT score are very impressive. But he returned to Harvard 4 years ago to get his honorary degree. He's a lucky man.
Only 70% of students who begin high school graduate -only about 52% in larger cities. Students who dropout do not live as long and earn less than high school graduates - only qualifying for 12% of available jobs with earnings usually under $18,500 a year. They are more likely to be teen parents, commit crime (80% of prisoners are dropouts), and rely on government assistance.
We need to support our youth encouraging them to stay in school and earn their diplomas.
@hacker4637 No. Just, no. A GED isn't even close to being equivalent to a high school diploma. A GED doesn't get you into a good college, if it gets you into a college at all. A GED doesn't get you into NEARLY as many jobs as a high school diploma, and the ones you ARE eligible for suck, and are most likely what you'll be doing for a long, long while...
Getting an education pays. Getting a GED doesn't. Simple as that.
@GoWfan86 Actually it all depends on the employer or college. Some view it as equal. But it doesn't matter you can't get a good job with either one these days. Everyone wants a duh-gwee.
@jarelynmonroe So did I, I dropped out in 2nd term of grade 9. and I have a nice apartment with a nice car. Dopping out was the best thing I ever did.
Urban life sure can be tough, especially when it comes to education and trying to make in this unforgiving global economy.

Not really a lot of high school dropout can obtain a GED equivalent to a high school diploma.

How? There's no need to be so jumpy every time an African American is shown on the screen.
Sure he may be not be doing well, but many students struggle in school. This one just happens to be African American.

Really?
Really?
Then so are the cyber bullying commercials, because then that's saying that only whites do that.
I'm going to complain now.
