  • looks like a lotus!

  • Fuel anywhere MUAHAHAAHAHAHHHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • BadASS!!!!!! kills a gas powered car. And it runs with electric power from your home electric output xD? hahaha

  • i kind of love your stones reference.

  • I like the idea but i also saw the topgear vesion and that has me suspistuoius but if they make a car like this for the cost it needs to charge fast and have better quilty and be durable or it going to be beat out by gas cars al the time

  • I like it. Not tryihg to sell anything, just saying how it is. Only real problem with having a Tesla is that the world is not really ready for them. Still waiting for those recharge stations.

  • Think about it; this is only the beginning. Imagine in five years!

  • sta je srbin

  • sta je reci srbin

  • I LOVE THIS CAR! Too bad I will have to settle with the Leaf, which is a pretty cool car. Electric is the way to go, and all you skeptics will get you words stuffed back in your mouth when you see one in person and take a ride. The Tesla proved that electric cars can be fast and cool or hot, whichever way you look at it.

  • uploaded 1 april?

  • piece of crap.

  • Walgreens just announced that they are adding electric car charging stations to their stores nationwide.

  • they will be building charging station pretty soon,, and it will take over gas station in the near future.

  • The only problem w/ an $109000 electric car is the limited resources to recharge.

  • I think it's a little dangerous it doesn't make any sound. My 240sx has a loud exhaust so everyone hear me coming and stay away.

  • I saw one today in Phoenix. It was awesome this old ass guy was driving. I was at a stoplight next to him and when it turned green he took off like a bullet. Super fast car! His license plate said NOMOGAS.

  • Since when do people buy supercars because of their practicality or to save money?

  • i like it, i see the future in these cars once the support governmental/infrastructure support is given.

  • looks sick but but not practical, YET.

  • In order to avoid being stranded, Tesla could institute an "emergency" battery. The old VW Beetles had a lever that you would pull to release one more gallon of gas and, presumably, give you time to reach a gas station. In much the same way, this car could have either a passive or driver-activated switch that would, in a sense, "release" another 10 or 15 or 20 miles to help you reach either home or a recharging location. Just a brainstorm.

  • That's a coool car!!!!!

  • way way way way way way /10 overdue

  • These cars out perform most high end gas fueled cars :)

  • so heres what i think needs to happen, i think the government should put in one electric car quick charge station at every gas station, think about it, i think more people would buy electric cars knowing that they are not gunna be stuck when there running low on juice, therefore i think more people buying electric cars would increase the need for more electric cars to be produced, dropping the price of them.

  • @revfan54 or they could have a battery exchange at gas stations where you could swap the dying batteries for fresh ones and be on your way. I bet you cant just pull the batteries out of the Tesla that quickly though, so that would need to be worked out but I believe it is the solution to the range problem.

  • Test drove this one today... Nice performance but not as quiet as you would expect an engineless car to be. The tyre roar is quite loud. I pressed them on how much of it was actually Lotus. They told me 7% was Lotus. but then we all know the difference between american talk and actual facts. They reluctantly told me infact its entirely built at the Lotus factory in Hethel England. Then sold as an american product. Actually being a Lotus tho is not bad. its great. Bodywork is french.

  • 0:35

    XD

  • eletric cars will not solve the oil crisis. all it will do is put a heavier strain on the already burdened electrical grid, and increase our dependency on an even dirtier fossil fuel, coal. well at least we can get domestic coal from america u say, then ur buying an electric car for the wrong reason i say.

  • @yammyUFC4life

Bullshit. You need to stop listening to so much propaganda. Less than 50% of the u.s. power grid is coal. If anything it would put more stress into wind, and solar fields.-which is a good thing-

  • @coldbedsheets u serious bro? more like 60%. it would put more stress on the grid, no matter how the electricity is produced, which is mostly coal.

  • @yammyUFC4life

    Nope. You're wrong "bro"

Make sure you delete the ( ) for this url-

    _

    eia(.)doe(.)gov/energyexplained/index(.)cfm?page=electricity_in_the_united_states

    _

It was 48% in 2008 and even less in 2010.

Like i said, it doesn't put more "stress" on the coal industry, it puts stress on the POLITICIANS to encourage more fuel efficient ways of producing electricity like wind and solar. There are already tax breaks for solar panels.

  • @coldbedsheets well bud u also conveniently left out the fact that another hefty 41% of our electric is generated by two other nonsustaniable sources, natural gas and nuclear energy. not as dirty as coal, but they both produce waste and are limited. and it does not put more pressure on politicans to find better ways to produce sustainable forms of energy, it puts more pressure on them to find the quickest and easiest way to produce more electricity, as seen here-

  • @yammyUFC4life

We weren't talking about natural gas and nuclear energy. You specifically said that 60% of the electricity grid was made up of COAL, which was WRONG.\

And of course there will still be new coal plants being put up. Thats cause not nearly enough people have electric cars yet. We were speaking hypothetically.

Solar panels pay for themselves after 100 years? Lol First of all, in california you can get good solar panels for $10,000. And that's not including the 36% tax break.

  • @coldbedsheets i said coal because it is the largest and dirtiest of the three. the fact of the matter is that all three are the same, dirty and insustainable. $10,000? sounds conveniently rounded. how bout some good numbers. ill give you some

December 2009 report, the average monthly electric bill for Pennsylvania residents was just under $100.00.

give me some solid numbers for price of solar panel installation. from all the sources ive looked at, after government incentives, 15-25k

  • ? Do you even read what you're writing? "I said coal because it is the largest and dirtiest of the three" LOL

No, you insinuated that coal took up 60% of the electricity grid. Listen, we all make mistakes mister.

You're speaking to someone who uses solar energy. I bought it from them from this website combined for a total of less than 10gs And every year i get a tax break as well.-remove the ( and the ) before and after the periods

    ecobusinesslinks(.)com/solar_panels(.)htm

  • @coldbedsheets i dont care that you have solar panels. that doesnt mean anything. the fact of the matter is that roughly 9% of the electric grid is renewable. the other 91% is fossil fuels and non renewable nuclear. these electric cars will still be polluting the air. that is all im trying to say. you wanna know how much that battery would cost to replace, or how hard it is to work on those? those batteries cost about 2k a piece, and will last 4-5 years.

  • @yammyUFC4life It is the governments all over the world we have to blame. They stick to fossil fuels because of the oil industry just like cigarets are still produced even though they are extremely unhealthy because they give money to the government. probably if people bought more electric cars then renewable energy sources would be alot more interesting for the government, but as it is now there is no reason to change from fossil fuels when nearly all vehicles only run on petrol.

  • @FreeRiderDZ yea bud thats just it. its all about the $

  • @yammyUFC4life of course it is.. too bad most governments prefer $ rather than inovative thinking :/

  • @yammyUFC4life

You're wrong. First of all, it is estimated that even with getting electricity from coal, if everyone had an electric car then it would output 1/10th the carbon footprint as if everyone had priuses. Thats WITH getting electricity from coal. So yes, it isn't 100% clean, but it is still 10x better than what we have now.

And by the way, the batteries in the tesla model s that is coming out soon lasts 10 years, i think the roadster is the same.

  • @coldbedsheets a step in the right direction yes, but not a pemament replacement for petrol cars. hell the thing cost 200,000 dollars!!! how many people can afford that? maybe 1/100 a percent of americans

  • @yammyUFC4life

    3 million people

  • @noirjour u obviously do not understand what i said. i said one hundreth of one percent of americans can afford it. that's about 30,000

  • @coldbedsheets "According to NETL, 3,218 megawatts of coal-fired power plants came on-line in 2009, the most in one year since 1991. Further, NETL reports that 22 units are in the construction pipeline, while EIA reports that 5 new coal-fired units came on line in just the first 6 months of this year."

  • @coldbedsheets and tax breaks? my neighbor has full solar panels installed on his roof to provide 98% of the power to his house, and u wanna know how much that ran him? 25 grand. sure it will pay for itself, after about 100 years.

  • is it just me or is this just a lotus with an electric motor???

  • I WANT ONE SO BAD I WOULD GIVE UP MASTER BAITING FOR IT!!

  • swappable batteries, problem solved.

one battery in the car, spare battery charging at home. that way, every morning, you can just swap to a fully charged battery.

  • Hit the Gas? LOL

  • Sweet car !!! I want one.

  • looks like a fuckin hot wheels car

  • Sounds dangerous to drive on nice windy country roads or the centre of town. No-one or nothing would hear you approaching. Give me a decent engine note on a proper Elise any day...

  • what about the cost of replacement batterys if they no longer hold charges?

  • Best Thing I heard from cars so far.. 200 mile RANGE???!!

  • I've read something in their homepage:

Chassis: Resin-bonded and riveted extruded aluminum monocoque.

@gogmorgoaway then I agree with you that for $101.500 base price, they might be using carbon fiber instead of resin and (hopefully) fiberglass...

  • @QuieroChat

That's just the chassis. The body panels are carbon fiber.

  • Sweet ride, generation 2 of the Roadster promises 911 like versatility, it will only get better.

  • Ahh, Ann Arbor, my old stomping grounds.

You must have been washing the car in Ypsilanti. lol

This car is completely useless, especially at it's price.

If you wanted to get in the car and drive to Chicago with your girl for the weekend, you can't.

You would be much better off buying a Porsche Boxster S for $60,000 and pocketing the $50,000 for other fun activities or some other car.

  • @venom5809 Actually, that's the car wash on W. Liberty

  • The bane of all these type of cars is the limited number of times the batteries can take a charge before they need replacing. Reviews often over look that downfall of these electric and battery hybrid cars.

  • shit car.

  • Michael has it wrong on home charge station. Most owners actually did not bother with the expensive $3K charge station. Most bought the mobile charger. Cheaper, portable and lots of connection choices. The only advantage of the home charger is speed of charge but when you are home that's just when you don't need fast. You are sleeping.

  • that color is awful D: xD i rather fuel-inyection cars still...electric cars are just good for saving money, the enviroment and get a comfortable driving xD...they should preserve those V8, V10, V12 and W16 for high develop cars only D:

  • its not the problem with the car...its the infrastructure. the car couldnt be made any better so something else has to change

  • @thebossisheretostay

Perhaps our attitude has to change. Once upon a time there weren't any gas stations, just saying...

  • No business will let a random person or even a customer plug in their car to their grid. Just like no one gives away free gas. EVs won't be able to become widespread before there is a widely available recharge network in cities.

  • @sparkss4 a full charge will cost you like 40cents...i think people will gladly hand over 5/10+ bucks for letting them use the power and getting their car to work

  • The Tesla is defiantly awesome you can't try to make logic when comparing it against gasoline power cars its simply one of those things people who got the extra money buy to make a statement or people who are excited about the technology. It maybe some time before electric cars are truly practical but I don't doubt it being a reality and cars like this have to be made to fund more research.

  • electric cars are worthless

  • @buttnut1080

Not a sports car that beats Ferrari's in 0-60.... um ya okay

  • Beats what ferrari to 60? Maybe the 612 but how many times do you think this tesla can make it to 60 in 3.7 seconds? Maybe twice before the battery runs out. You obviously can't see past a number can you and don't even compare this car to a ferrari because you can't; not at all. This tesla is just a little electric shitbox. Don't even try to compare it to a true supercar.

  • @teslawizardvvv3 LOL WHAT

  • volts velocity victory Tesla roadster electric car back from the dead and with vengeance in mind

  • hahahaha i love the black guy at 38

  • If i was to own a Tesla the fact of running out of battery would spoil the fun for me!

  • Who the hell would just let you plug in your car and run their electric bill crazy??? Obama is killing Coal in the US and that willl run the coast of juice 2 the moon!!

  • @MadBadVoodo the Tesla has a 53kwh battery and the avg cost per kw in the US is about 10 cents. So $5.30 on average to charge the Tesla... hardly a couple of gallons of gas at todays prices.

  • what if i took the car for a long trip...>??

  • Love the idea behind the Tesla. They're proving that electric cars don't have to be the miserable, no-range vehicles that most of them are.

I know they're trying to save weight, but that plastic(?) flexible trunk-lid doesn't entirely speak quality...

  • @gogmorgoaway The whole body is made of carbon fiber....very high quality.

  • @RoyBenDoyBenS yeah, well, the new SSC is going to be made entirely of CF, chassis included. I wouldn't want my chassis as floppy as that trunk lid. My albeit limited experience with it says it should be a lot more rigid.

Undoubtedly, there are various grades, and they've chosen a cheaper one.

  • @gogmorgoaway

He was probably just trying to be extra gentle with it. He was only reviewing it. He wasn't going to slam it lol. The body panels are carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is made up of thin strands of pure carbon, that are woven into a tight cloth. To form a composite material, the cloth is then combined with (and enclosed in) a plastic or resin. Thus it may look as if it acts like plastic, but it's much better/stronger/lighter.

  • Hating on the Tesla

  • this is the way should be cars in the future
